PESHAWAR: PTI Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan Monday said that all previous governments in Pakistan were removed because of corruption with the exception of the PTI-led one.

Speaking during a lawyers' convention in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Khan said: "Since our government was not removed due to corruption, people took to the streets instead of distributing sweets."

He said that the current political milieu of the country was posing a real challenge for the judiciary as well as the lawyers in the country.

"I, therefore, want the lawyer's community to support me as they and the judiciary as a whole play an important role in saving the country," he said.

During the speech, Khan once again criticised the incumbent government and blamed it for conspiring with the United States to oust him.

The PTI chairman then went on to explain how US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Donald Lu threatened the Pakistani ambassador to the US and detailed how, according to him, the PTI-led government was removed from power by the then opposition.

"They [the then opposition] comprised bootlickers, that's why the US wanted to bring them back to power."

Praising this government's performance, the ex-PM claimed that Pakistan performed better in the last two years in the economic sector as compared to the past. "The country grew economically by 5.6% in 2021 and 6% in 2022," said Khan, adding that the country achieved record tax collection targets during his tenure.

"India — which is a Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (QUAD) country — bought oil from Russia at lower prices and has reduced the petroleum prices in its country while our government increased the prices."

Khan said that Pakistan has been ruled by the military but two political families — Sharifs and Zardaris — monopolised the political area and remained in power for the last 62 years.

"I ruled for three-and-a-half years and they started having issues with my government just because Pakistan wanted to maintain cordial relations with other countries but refused to fight their wars," he said.

He then criticised the former government for allowing the United States to allow drone attacks in Pakistan.

"We had no relation will 9/11. I will not give Pakistan's bases to America," said the former PM, adding that Pakistan neither wanted bad relations with any country nor did it want to become their slave.

Talking about the Masjid-e-Nabawi (PBUH) incident, Khan said that the current government was "cursed by Allah to the point that people, even when they were present at a holy place, couldn't stop themselves from chanting slogans against these corrupt leaders."

"What was our [PTI's] fault if ordinary people chanted slogans against these people in Madinah?" the former premier questioned.

Khan lambasted the PML-N and said that the Supreme Court had rightly called the Sharif family a "Sicilian Mafia".

"I have never seen anyone more filthy than this family," he said, adding that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif killed a record number of people between 1997-1998 in police encounters.

"If these people stay in the government, the rule of law in the country will be destroyed," said the PTI chairman.

Referring to the government's decision to launch a crackdown against PTI workers during the "Azadi March" last week, Khan said that the party has approached the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

"Tomorrow, we will submit our case in the SC for a hearing," he said. "I did not want chaos in the country. PTI will now take to the streets with preparations and planning," he concluded.

And yet pti still got removed.... He can try to find a silver lining anyway he wants

Gillanis removal by the court was unconstitutional. The constitution gave clear guide to how to disqualify a pm, and the court had no authority to at that time.

While nawaz shareef was disqualified for being dishonest. If we look at it than even imran has been dishonest about his personal life aswell.

Anyways, atleast ppp and pmln completed their 5 year tenure, pti wasnt able to do and will never get that chance ever again inshallah.

I remeber how in January the likes of Bewal Express were already celebrating that Imran would be the first pm to complete his 5 years. Poor guy, spoke too soon :)

You achievement in buying votes is indeed a great achievement. With money from the poor of Sindh and CIA given millions you have shown why you guys can't walk outside without guards whether in PK or abroad. You have beaten PKs and shell them with expired Tear gas, or just killed them.

Billo has been asking PKs abroad to meet him but the PKs have told the loser to get lost. If you guys had any support you would have called an election but being illegitimate your scared of your own shadows.

Just watched his interview on SkyNews - wish he had paused when he said 60% of the cabinet is on bail!

geo already fact checked nothing like tha ever happened

news agencies fact checks are authentic. And who else do you expect to do fact checks if not news agencies?

News agencies.

Geo is a propaganda arm of the Sharifs.

You can say same for ARY when it comes to news on PTI etc

IK needs to be reminded that his campaign was funded by illicit funds. He's therefore a beneficiary of corruption himself.

He has been abroad on holiday for the last few weeks, surely for optics they would have some videos. They can't leave their hotels anywhere and it will stay like that forever for these crooks

Not it wasn't. Stop the lies-If it was then I am sure they would be infront of the election commission and the courts because if they can start fake cases, a real one would be a god send.

So the Tareen money becomes halal if the recipient is PTI?

So the Tareen money becomes halal if the recipient is PTI?

On what bases are you saying its not legitimate. He is part of the Noora govt in Punjab and in the centre, and the cases started under IK haven't come to any conclusion. Come back when you have something tangible.

So it's okay for him to favour Zardari over his sworn oath to Pakistan and refuse a SC order to write the letter to Switzerland to recover Pakistans money which ppp looted and all you care for is whether the same court has jurisdiction who recently favoured horsetraders to forcibly overthrow Imrans government?

Basically, you want to have everything favouring imported government.

Our nation has long lost its moral compass. We accept the ridiculous notions of free and fair elections in Pakistan hen the truth is our nation is a nation of slaves ruled by a nexus of dynastic family politics or military authoritarianists.

Enjoy a life of indentured servitude, guys!

Horse trading never proven, also pti was not removed because of its own member turning against them but other parties and independants.

Also, didnt you guys did bhangra when tareen was buying off independant mnas for pti and imran

Watching his interview on sky. Playing little game with myself. To complete his sentences. It has come to a point that I recall all the points of emphasis, change in tone, transition. Imran needs to get out his echo chamber for a bit. He is just repeating the same talking point irrespective of the question asked.

See Bewals reply to your post.

You have just accepted that Gilani is a traitor.

Tareen never invested any money on buying anyone, that is the difference.

Wish you could contribute more than spreading misinformation in favour of hamza showbaz's illegal government as declared by SC.

Can you share this record with us?

Also, your beloved parties would call Tareen a funder of IK, why do they now blindly support and praise him all day long, are they hypocrites?

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former information minister Fawad Chaudhry has warned that whoever will arrest former premier and PTI Chairman Imran Khan will not be able to live in Pakistan.

Speaking to the media in Lahore on Wednesday, Fawad also warned police and administration that those who are taking 'illegal actions on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz' would be responsible for their deeds.

According to the PTI stalwart, Hamza had lost a majority as Punjab's chief minister.

Responding to the opposition’s remarks on the police-protester scuffle during the former ruling party's 'Azadi March' last month, he claimed efforts are afoot to create unrest between the public and the police.

"The PTI would soon issue a white paper on state terrorism against peaceful and unarmed protesters," he added.

The former information minister went on to accuse Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah of unleashing 'terrorism' on the party's supporters.

While recalling that the police had trespassed during the raids to arrest PTI workers, he said it wasn't new how the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government used the police force to torture the peaceful protesters.

The PTI, he added, will avenge each and every illegal action against its leaders and workers.

Fawad also criticised the incumbent government for "resorting to politics over the martyrdom of a police officer in the line of duty.

He also alleged that the authorities were refusing access to a former army major who was arrested around mid-night last month, saying police were involved in torturing the man.

The PTI leader appreciated the sessions court for its "bold decision" to register a case against the federal interior minister and police high command.

Fawad later visited the house of late PTI worker Faisal Abbas, offered Fateha and called for a case of the incident to be registered.

:))) The state of things, when posters dont know the concept of fact checking :)))

Let's deal with some facts.

Zia murdered Bhutto - however it's dressed up. Zia meted out horrendous punishment to Nusrat and Benazir Bhutto and denied them treatment. With the exception of Sanam, the Bhutto family has been decimated in the follow upto the judicial murder of ZAB.

One of Zia's lackies was Nawaz Sharif.

Nawaz Sharif dropped photoshopped nude pictures of Benazir Bhutto from a helicoptor. Still, Bilawal Zardari, is prepared to overlook that.

The Bhutto who proudly would bow to no one has a grandson, who is kissing the backside of Nawaz Sharif and co, whose party mocked the brave, ill Nusrat Bhutto in the National Assembly.

What a son!

Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Friday vowed to fight the "thieves" – a term he has coined for the members of the incumbent government – till the last ball.

"I will never let them get away with your Rs1,100 billion," he said while addressing a rally in Faisalabad in connection with Sunday's by-polls on 20 constituencies of Punjab Assembly.

Imran Khan said that those who imposed "criminals" via a foreign conspiracy, the nation will never forgive them. "You are my team and I am your captain… and this captain knows how to compete."

He claimed that Sharifs and Zardaris have never done anything with honesty, alleging that his party’s opponents cannot win without massive rigging.

The PTI chairman said that after 9/11, our ruler of that time got a call from the US and we entered a foreign war. “Pakistan sacrificed a lot for the US war. We lost 80,000 Pakistanis and even today army soldiers giving sacrifices because of that war. When democracy was restored, people thought it will talk about the people but the US conducted 400 drone attacks during Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari's tenures.”

He said that he does not want enmity with anyone but he will also never be a slave to anyone. "US doesn't like leaders who take a stand… it likes cherry blossom leaders like Shehbaz Sharif."

For the last 32 years, the former PM said, PML-N and PPP were ruling Pakistan. "Whenever they come [to power] they beg. They are shameless people. If they had any honour, they would've returned the money they had looted from this country rather than begging," he added.

Urging people to vote, he hoped that PTI will win in all 20 constituencies and will give "lotas a beating".

"You all have to come out and protect all polling stations because opponents cannot win without rigging," he added.

Noting that the government will not be able to brought down the prices of petrol and diesel further, he said that PM Shehbaz first raised the price of diesel by Rs130 and then brought it down by Rs40 per litre.

"Price of petrol should have been reduced to Rs150 and diesel to Rs144 but they are following orders of IMF only. IMF also pushed us to raise prices but we did not," he added.

Imran said that Nawaz Sharif's entire family lives abroad but only "Radio Akhashwani" is in Pakistan, referring to PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz.

"Maryam owns four expensive apartments in London. Our justice system can only catch small criminals but not big ones."

Talking about Sri Lanka, he said that like Pakistan, it too was being ruled by a single family which became rich while the country got poorer and subsequently, it defaulted.

Talking about the achievements of his government, the former premier said that the PTI government saw record exports. "We had record textile exports. There was a shortage of labourers in Faisalabad as a result. We gave health cards in Punjab for the first time in the history of Pakistan. Ehsaas Programme was taking the country towards a welfare state. We gave interest-free loans to people," he further said.

The federal government has decided to legislate on the Supreme Court's jurisdiction on suo motu notices and the powers of the chief justice to constitute benches among others.

The decision was taken during a federal cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Wednesday, Express News reported.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, while speaking to the media, said that a parliamentary committee will be formed on judicial reforms.

Sanaullah also warned of imposing governor's rule in Punjab if his entry into the province was restricted. The interior minister furthered that the work on the summary for imposing the rule had begun, which would be published by the home ministry.

The move came after the devastating blow to the nascent Shehbaz Sharif-led ruling coalition, as the Supreme Court struck down Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari’s ruling on the election of Punjab chief minister, paving the way for PTI’s selected Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to ascend to the throne in the country’s political heartland.

In the conclusion to a hearing that gripped the country for the past four days, a three-member bench, comprising Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Munib Akhtar, announced an unusually harsh verdict after over a three-hour delay on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Supreme Court Bar Association, High Court Bars of all provinces, Pakistan Bar Council, and members and nominated members of Judicial Commission have also demanded to limit the powers of Supreme Court in their joint resolution.

They said that Article 175A and Article 209 of the Constitution should be amended so that the forum for appointment and removal of judges can be one and judges, bar, administration and parliament are all equally represented in it.

The lawyers said that the parliament should amend Article 175 (2) and 191 of the Constitution, abolishing the chief justice’s blanket authority in forming the benches, fixing the date of the cases and taking suo motu notices and give these powers to five most senior judges of the top court.
