Thread to post stats which are either amazing feat of human sportmanship or those which you would never guess to be true.

One from the 2nd category:

Moeen Ali quicker to 2000 run/100 wkt test double than Sobers and Kallis!

Moeen Ali recently became the 5th fastest cricketer to get the 2000 Runs, 100 wkts double in tests. Incidently he is the first person to complete both milestones on the same day.

Top 5 being:
No of tests

31 Shakib Al Hasan
36 Trevor Goddard
37 Tony Greig
37 Keith Miller
38 Moeen Ali

This is quicker than players like Sobers (48) and Kallis (53) which I found to be remarkable. These 2 can be classified as top batsmen who were more than handy with the ball.

This is also quicker than the top 4 alll rounders of the 80s:

42 Botham
50 Imran
50 Kapil
54 Hadlee

In ODI and T20 WCs:

India 11 - 0 Pakistan

Remarkable, isn't it? :shafiq2

Yes very.

Also India's 180 run defeat, biggest in an ICC tournament final ever!
Previously it was Australia versus India at Wanderers in 2003.

Looks like another trend forming.

Pakistan's #180 run win in the CT final against India was the biggest-ever run-margin between two teams in a tournament (5+ teams) final.

:salute

Edit: You beat me to it On_the_up :asif

Fakhar Zaman is currently the leading run scorer for Pakistan after 4 matches.

No team ha ever won back to back CT since its inception in 1998

saeed anwar has a higher individual score in odis than in tests. probably the only batsman in history.

From WG Grace's debut in FC cricket to the age of 27, he scored 50 centuries. In that same timespan, all other players combined scored 109 centuries. No one scored more than 10.

Jimmy Anderson got his 300th test wkt (Elgar) at home today.

Only fast bowler to do so.

Others with 300 wkts at home are:

Murali 493
Kumble 350
Warne 319

The most impressive statistics in tests are those of Sunil Gavaskar against the mighty West Indies of the 1970s and early 1980s.

He averaged 66.45 against them, and his average while playing them in their backyard was a jaw dropping 70.20.

Basically, he owned the likes of Marshall, Holding, Garner, Sobers and the others that were the stuff of nightmares for the batsmen of his era.

Isn't there some stat out there that states that he didn't face a full strength WI attack (or for majority of those matches)?

Edit: link to article that breaksdown his performance verses the WI:

Amla today became only the 2nd player to get to 50 in both inns of a test with a six.

All of the following player's ducks in tests were golden.

Bishan Bedi (20)
Wasim Bari (20)
Derek Underwood (19)
Godfrey Evans (19)
John Snow (17)
Kapil Dev (16)

Imran Nazir averages more in T20s than in List A cricket. :afridi

Also, I was not aware that he has made a Test hundred in West Indies against Walsh and Ambrose! :danish
