Anyone else annoyed by the obsession with "conditions"?

Its always been a part of the game of cricket that home teams will prepare pitches to suit their strengths. I don't see why people get so caught up in it. Its fine to say "this is a flat pitch" or "so and so is a flat track bully". Thats totally legit. But this idea of equitorial teams (IND, PAK, SL, BD, WI, AFG) complaining when they tour polar teams (ENG, NZ, SA, AUS, IRE) and vice versa just seems like whining and sore losership to me.

The English and Aussies also complain when they tour the subcontinent. Yes, Asians are going to make turners when you visit. Get over it. If you're a real powerhouse side you can still score runs and win.

Anyone else agree?

No Asian whines about the conditions.

Its always the western folks.

However, general talk about conditions is inevitable.

Ironically, lots of Asian fans whine about India preparing turners though. Sometimes, calling even flat tracks as turners.

It's sad and hilarious at the same time.

They do a play big part but teams need to adapt!

I don’t understand why everyone gets into a fit when the topic of conditions come up.

That’s one of the reasons why cricket is distinguishable from other sports because every pitch brings something different.

Like Darwin stated, it’s not the strongest or most intelligent species that survives but the one best able to adapt. No where is that seen more in sports than in a great team adapting.

Problem is, in India, anything that does not turn from first ball and from off to leg and leg to off...is not called a raging turner :-)

Indians need to understand a pitch that starts taking turn in the very first session or well before tea on first day, will be called a turner but obviously their definition of a turner is different from rest of the world; on these 'normal' turn pitches in India, even Jadeja looks like the left hand version of Warne, ripping it here and there despite darting it in hard and fast.

No wonder, as soon as he comes across a good team and ball doesn't devaite, he becomes a straight line and length bowler and then dealt with relatively easily.

Then they travel to England, Australia, SA, or NZ, ball swings or seams and their batsman want to walk back to pavilion as soon as possible because the conditions suddenly become unplayable to them...no wonder they are in a mess that they are in right now!

Turning track , green track , bouncy pacy track all are legally acceptable as per cricket laws. And if they are no team can complain about it . Home team has right to dish out what they want and visiting team has to try adapting. Imagine if tennis players complained about grass courts, clay court, astro turf court. Some tennis legends sucked on one type of court and barely won one other type. Ex ivan lendl

I meant sucked on certain type of court but was excellent on some other type of tennis courts Dam the autospell

I meant some of there fans do. You are right though. Whereas Kohli will complain about conditions, Root or Smith won't say anything.

Fair enough. Such “fans” are just moaners. Look at Gower and Atherton in Pakistan, Gatting and Cook in India, Thorpe in SL. They never whinged, they just piled the runs on.
