So far the duo is doing great against Zimbabwe in the 2nd ODI, made 36 so far in 5.4 overs.

Saud should be a no 4 in odi. He's the best player of spin in pakistan and you want to utilise him in the middle. Also would add though I don’t think we should do it, but I think Saud if he opened would do better than those two right now. But of course Saud is more of a finished product and considerably older. The other two have probably more potential.
I think he should play at 4 too. That’s why I said I don’t think we should make him open. I think it was a massive mistake to drop him from odi team so early. Even though I don’t think he’s been fantastic there, with that sort of record you can’t argue that, but he showed massive amounts of potential and pretty much threw his wicket nearly every time after he got a start, he looked more comfortable early on in the crease than most of our other batsmen.Saud should be a no 4 in odi. Fakhar + Saim should open for aggressive starts.
As for saim, I wouldn't worry too much, when he first appeared in domestics he struggled for months before finding rhythm and dominating.
Then when he came into leagues, Same story and same story for international.
Takes him time to adjust to different levels. He's no jaiswal but he can probably he a rachin ravindra in the future who knows.
Saim ayub hit a 53 ball 100. Yes it was againat Zimbabwe however he's clearly improving as a batsmen, he replicated his good form againat Australia as well scoring 82 and 44 in their home den which is impressive.I think he should play at 4 too. Just think he if happened to open he would outperform Saim or Abdullah. I think he looks better at the crease early on, is comfortable and is used to piling in runs in domestic and tests. Though I think we shouldn’t do it as saud can and probably should play middle order. And I believe Saim and Abdullah are the future so it’s really great for Pakistan if either or both can cement their place on merit.
The future of Abdullah Shafique is he is developing a prolific poultry farm. His namesake Asad would be proud of him. The farming community are the main beneficariesWhat is the future of Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique's partnership, as Abdullah Shafique completes a hat-trick of ducks in the ODI series against South Africa?
