If we look at the last four performances of the Pakistan Cricket Team, we understand that there were a lot of choking from positions where we could have easily won the game. Starting from the 2021 Semi-Final vs Australia, We couldn't take their last five wickets after restricting them to 90-5 while we were defending 178. Asia Cup 2020 Final is another example of taking 5 wickets for like 55 runs and then allowing them to score 175. MCG 2020 T20 WC, we got India to 40-4 inside 10 overs and we couldn't defend 160 after that. Asia Cup 2023 and then 9 Test losses at home consecutively. Are we heading toward the worst phase of Pakistan Cricket and are Pakistan the biggest chokers in world cricket right now? Feel free to put out your thoughts under this thread.

All tesem go through these phases if you individually analyze. Bangladesh had Pakistan at 13/3 yet they let them get to 440 plus. That is not called choking. That is called other team raising their game.

No comments on biggest chokers, but I don't think that its headed towards a worst phase. It's actually the worst I have seen from Pakistan in the last 30 years when it comes to able to compete at home grounds. This 3 years stretch has been worst with zero test win at home. I am sure some batsmen scored runs on flat pitches in 3 years, but if you are unable to win at home agaisnt so many teams then those runs counts for nothing.

Chokers are those who atleast start well but then lose the plot at the end but in Pakistan's case it's quite simple... they play pathetically from the start of the game and lose it horrible so no chance to call them a choker at all.

No, Pakistan is a just a very poor team right now. Biggest chokers are India - the way the choked the most rigged World Cup in history (2023) cemented their status.

They tried their very best to choke the 2024 World Cup as well and left no stone unturned but were luckily up against the only other team that can choke as much as India.

Where do you rate the choke of 1999 WC final?

Wasn’t a choke, Pakistan didn’t play well in that World Cup, lost multiple matches en route to the final. They were lucky to play NZ in the semifinal, otherwise South Africa would have beaten them as well.

Pakistan’s biggest choke in World Cups were 87, 96 and 2011 semifinal. India were the better side in 2011, but Pakistan had the match in its hands but choked.

India are the biggest chokers. But they beat a team who chokes even more. Shouldn't that make South Africa the biggest chokers anyway ?

They lost to India and Bangladesh which were not knockout matches. Had defeated Australia. Had many all time greats, while australia had struggled to the finals. In the final, they just gave up without a fight. That is not a choke?

Do you think playing poorly is better than chocking? For chocking you need to play well in some part of the game, as in be in control of the match for sometime and then lose?

Chokers??? They aren't even among top tier teams to choke. Say minnow rather than chokers
Absolutely...i dont understand these threads. How are we chokers. Chokers you have to be in a winning positions and dominant. I even disagree with West Indies being below us as they are a good unit and will beat us any day. At the moment we are par with scotland and ireland maybe although i am sure both of them have beaten us recently.

Historically yes, current generation not even close. South Africa haven’t had the team to win tournaments in the last 10 years.

They are minnows......

Hard for you people to digest....but reality is very soon Big teams will avoid playing with you....even associate teams will send their B teams to play with your main team

They can't host international tournaments and don't earn enough money playing PSl
On top of that their best bowlers like ihsanullah are injured
And yasir shah can't play because of his criminal case

Choking is a complement. It is not your ability that lets you down which is fine just one off scenario where they failed. More serious problem is not having the ability at all.

Nope. Chockers only applies to teams who have good performance reputation, yet fail when they shouldn't.

Pakistan on the other hand are basically Rubbish.

Pakistan seem to have a habit of throwing away matches from dominating positions.

Bangladesh and Australia was stupid, they shouldn't have given it away.

India game was due to pakistan misreading the Minefield NY pitch bit it's their fault for sending joke openers.

The pitch was a minefield from overs 6 onwards. Pakistan should have tried to finish the game in the first 6 overs, Bazzball India into oblivion while tuk tuking to a winning total but nahi, Let's have 2 clown openers open for you

I don't know about chokers but there's something strange about Pakistan players that, unlike all international players, Pak players' skill set just doesn't improve with time. Every player worth his salt, improves once he starts playing international cricket but Pakistan players have no zeal, no ambitions not even personal. Don't blame it on the system or management, players these days invest their own money in coaching and fitness, Pakistani players on the other hand just are busy fighting amongst themselves or with ex-players.

Almost every team does this. They allow opposition to get away. That is why in Test matches winning one session is not enough. Teams can come back. Happens since the birth of Test cricket.

Choosing to play ultra-aggressive or T20 like cricket when your need to save the test on final day I believe is called "Throwing your wicket" not chocking
