Oh yes that was the surprise of the Last 16. All the other games at this round were won by favourites. Law of averages eventually came into play.

Its called a 'no look pass', pretty common now. Messi did see but only needed to see from the corner of his eye. But yes the vision, the pace and accuracy of the pass was genius.

Dutch will make some tactical changes for sure, they cannot afford for the game to tick away, need to be more aggressive.

Agree he's rising to the occasion just as the GOAT Maradonna did not only in 86 but also in 90. I watched the full match of Brazil v Argentina 1990. Brazil dominated the match, had dozens of shots but Deigo late on did something similar but better than what Messi did tonight, found Caneggia who finished off Brazil.

If Messi wins the World Cup , there is no argument left he is the GOAT even in Argentina.

Argentina will play France in the final, which means either Messi or Mbappe will win the Golden Ball and most probably the Ballon d'Or next year.
 
Brazil get overhyped to the moon based on their past glory even though they have underperformed in every World Cup after 2002. Their last 2-3 generation have lacked the bottle & winning mentality. Dancing like clowns doesn't win you World Cups.

Ronaldo is still an ATG and probably the second best of his era which is great too, him being in competition for this long was amazing considering he wasn't as naturally skilled as Messi.

Exactly , to pass with against such a defense in a qtr final WC game against a top team is absolutely remarkable.

To do what he does when the the opposition prepares against the player is what made that pass special.

If Portugal win the World Cup with Ronaldo scoring in the semis or final, he will be the GOAT over Messi. Some people have never kicked a ball or been to a live match so dont understand the game.

Some already feel Messi is the GOAT but as it stands hes not even the best Argentinian. :)
 
I am gonna be bold and predict that the winner of the World Cup will be from the Argentina vs Croatia semi final.

Ill go one better and predict Morocco will take the glory, turn the game on its head and send the OneLove brigade over a bridge in England.

Dutch need to be more physical here, get some dirty tackles in to rattle the Args and they can back in.

Only obstacle for Argentina paths to Final was Brazil, well they are into finals by default. Only team I can see them beating is France.

The game has turned into a school yard game.

Long balls. Tough tackles and fights.

Need a few punches to be swung and it will complete the experience.
 
My God, Argentina Holland rivalry is a rivalry for ages.

VVD is not used to losing. Hes only ever lost one game at Anfield.

He;s on a yellow so has to be careful but any corners to Holland, he could be deadly.
