As a Pakistani, do you want to visit India?

I would personally love to visit my ancestral homelands, my family migrated in 47 to Karachi. I would also like to visit Goa, Kerala beaches. Also go to Andaman Islands and ofcourse Mumbai.

The only thing Im afraid of is hindu mobs these days, they can attack any time, they are worse then taliban. Maybe oneday once the current goverment goes away
 
It's probably the only country other than Pakistan where I'd feel like home, know the language, understand the food, and feel at ease.

It saddens me how these two countries have accumulated this much hate over the last seven decades and yes answering the question, I'd love to visit India.
 
I would feel unsafe if i had to go to India. Even if i had to go, i would go to Goa maybe?
 
Was in Calcutta to visit some extended family and then went on a tour to the Taj Mahal etc, don't remember much as it was 25 years ago and I was a kid but didn't see any difference between there and Pakistan. Only thing I remember are the monkeys and the bb gun shooting thing where you shot balloons with 50/100/500 etc rupees notes in them. The aiming thing was hella bent though.
 
A foreign colleague was describing the process of getting an Indian visa and he explained that there were some 'gotchas' in the application form. One portion specifically has a checkbox confirming whether you are not a person of "Pakistani heritage" that you have to tick before going on.

If you then come back to this page of the application to check / modify something this box will be left unchecked and you have to make sure you tick it again.
 
Yes....want to see Taj Mahal even if its become a cliche now. Maybe Rajhistaan as well. Love the scenery of that area. I have absolutely no interest in seeing Mumbai or even Dehli.
 
why not? Id like to visit my my grandparents ancestral homes in Delhi and Agra

Also as a tourist I would like to visit Tamil Nadu and Kerala which are part of India these days.

I don't understand this part. What do you mean by 'these days'?
 
Nope.

I would feel unsafe, not worth it.

Best case scenario nothing happens and it is similar to Pakistan, so what is the point of visiting India, when I can visit back home.

Worst case scenario I get detained indefinitely by the Indian government under some false charges.

Either way not really worth it.

Nothing much really. But I'll try to explain.

Basically when I think of the homes of my ancestors then what comes in my mind (or for grandparents) are the old United Provinces of British India. Before British colonisation, India wasn't one unified country so certainly my ancestors didn't think of Tamil Nadu etc as part of 'their country' back then.

But I'd still like to visit TN and Kerala. However reason for that would be because they seem to be interesting tourist spots and have unique cultures. The reason for me wanting to visit them isn't sentimental or for historical reasons as it is in case of wanting to visit Delhi and Agra. Rather it is for touristy reasons purely
 
No! Dont want to go to a place where they hold negative perception due to me being a Pakistani. I am a proud person.
 
Nopes I’d rather go to Pakistan occupied India
Not worth risking your life if the public finds out your Pakistani then you won’t be coming back alive

Not sure what you guys are afraid of? I lived in Delhi for many decades and nobody on the street asked me if I was from Pakistan, though I easily could have been.

According to the following, the number of Pakistanis who came to India for medical treatment in 2015 was 1,921 (and 58,360 from Bangladesh!). They all returned home unmolested.

I remember during the India-Pakistan WC semi-final there was a Pakistani waving a huge Pakistani flag outside the stadium in Mohali, surrounded by curious Indians, but again unmolested.

That would hold the least interest for me, probably not that much different from Pakistan except populated by Sikhs. Rajasthan, Goa and Mumbai. A visit to the Maharashtra Hindutva strongholds would surely be an experience.

Current India feels hostile and the current Indian government is not trust worthy as they have a strong propaganda machine. Theres always a risk of getting imprisoned on false charges. Who is going to save me then?

According to the link below "The home ministry’s annual report said that 104,720 Pakistanis visited India in 2016."

If any one of the visitors had been imprisoned, we would have heard a lot about it in the media. Apparently nothing of the sort happened.

India and Pakistan keep arresting some fishermen so that they can be released like pigeons during peace building measures.

The good reason for Pakistanis to visit India is that it is a reasonably priced vacation. India is a very diverse land and there is a lot to see, from the hills of Darjeeling in West Bengal to the nature park of Periyar National Park, Kerala. As for not being safe, the Muslim friends I have in India get along with their lives without being attacked.

I would like to visit the mountains of North-West Pakistan, but at this point it is probably not wise to do so.
 
Would like to visit my ancestral homeland of Indian occupied Kashmir. I also want to check out Delhi since people say it's a lot like Lahore, not as nice though.

Pakistani diplomats and their families were getting harassed by RAW agents just recently. If someone on a diplomatic passport is facing such issues, i shudder at the thought of going with a regular passport.

Yet over 100K visit every year with no or at most a few incidents?
 
Had to visit the place once due to being compelled for some reason. That was enough to last a lifetime. Have no interest of ever going there again. I hated the place.
 
Having been to India although it was a while ago, I can safely say as a Pakistani there is no safety issue to worry about it. The current environment in India seems more anti-Pakistan than I ever remember it to be, but once you're on the ground I doubt it'll be a major problem.

However, the bigger question is, if you have a vacation to spare, should you go to India or somewhere else? IMO, you should pick someplace else. India more or less feels exactly the same as Pakistan. You're better of experiencing a new culture/language/history/cuisine etc.

This is why I picked the places in India which are little different from Pakistan, like South India, Mumbai, Tropical places like Goa and Kerala, Tropical beautiful islands of Lakhshadeep (exactly similar to Malidives) or beautiful Andaman Islands.

I am not sure why people are picking exactly similar places to Pakistan like Indian Punjab, Delhi etc...

I mean most of North India is just like Pakistan just a littler dirtier, and more crowded. However, I would like to visit places like Kerala/Tamil Nadu which is a completely different world.

South India is actually much cleaner and greener, less crowded, the country side seems to be very beautiful
 
My dad told me that my great Grandpa actually worked in mumbai for a time must have been late 1800s I guess, but other than that I don't really have any connection to India.

Seems like a lot of people are offering opinions about a country they know little about and probably have never visited. North India is very diverse, some parts of it like Chandigarh, Dharamsala etc. are very clean. Also southern Indian states like Kerela and Tamil Nadu are more densely populated compared to northern Indian states like Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh.

nope no interest in visiting other states. I m fine here in my Jammu. Wanted to see Chandigarh which I have already done 2 years. No interest in any other state of shining and digital India.

We have two family friends who married Indian women. But the husbands can't seem to get Indian visas despite being married for 15+ years now :))
 
Went to Delhi in 2007 to watch Pak v ind Test match. Stayed there for 4 days and had a wonderful experience.

Fishermen cross into each other’s territory without papers and certainly without visas, so it is natural they would be detained and/or arrested until their identity have been verified. You cant compare fishermen with visitor who is carrying proper documents and visas.

I have a cousin(Pakistani) who married Indian man for past 12 years. Few months ago they applied visas for entire family, but only their two kids (US born) got the visas and my cousin was refused. There have been many cases where former Pakistani citizen have been getting refused despite acquiring foreign passport.

My phopa was born in Allahbad, India and moved to Pakistan when he was a kid. He has been living in Canada for 40+ years and obviously has a Canadian passport. On his passport it says place of birth as India and he has tried and failed to get Indian visa multiple times to go visit his birthplace and childhood home.

Have'nt been to Kerala in years ,but Kashmir and Kerala have to be two of the most stunningly beautiful states in India and the people in Kerala are pretty cool too.
Most of North India is polluted,filthy and overcrowded.
 
Yes definitely.

One of my biggest wish in life is to see Pak and India have friendly relations and a visa free entry of Pakistanis in Indian and vice versa. Like Germany and France. If Germany and France can become friends after world war then Pakistan and India kyun nahi?

Already ages are wasted in stupid wars and unnecessary fights. What have stupid wars ever achieved? Find it really idiotic when someone brags that we have killed more of your people than you have ours. What kind of idiotic achievement is this?

You are so wrong about this. Population density is way higher in most Pakistani cities. Even Delhi looks like an empty playground when you compare it to Karachi.

And I suggest you prefer North East India ahead of overrated Kerala.

Have you been to both Delhi and Karachi? Not sure how you can say that if you've been to both. On observation (I don't know population/sq-mile numbers), Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore are all way more crowded and congested than Karachi.

It depends upon how you define "Delhi". The broadest definition of Delhi is the "National Capital Region" and it's population is 46 million, about twice of Karachi.

"Prominent cities of NCR include Delhi, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Noida and Meerut." I considered all those to be part of Delhi except Meerut when I lived in Delhi.

One reason Delhi is so big is that its per cap GDP is about 3 times India's average, so it attracts a lot of poor from rural areas.

I don't understand the relevance of what you just said. Poulation density of Delhi actually decreases even further if we use the "broader" Delhi-NCR definition. My point to the brother still stands.

Alright, but the context to my post you quoted was population density. Delhi will obviously have a larger population because there is simply so much land.
 
There is a restaurant in India/Lucknow called Tunday Kabab. Apparently they have some of the best Kebabs in the world so I want to visit just to eat there. Also would be cool to explore the city where my family used to live.

A lot of restaurants in Delhi have really good kebabs. My theory is that, unless you are very good, you will not have any customers as the competition is fierce.
 
I would love to go to Calcutta (since it has my ancestral home) and very interested to know how Bangalore, Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Kerela look in person. Going by pictures it looks a very nice place to have a short vacation.
