That's because large sections of Pakistani society are stupid, or perhaps a better term would be ignorant. I feel quite strongly that martial law type conditions should prevail to stop mob rule in the subcontinent. When the public is educated and civil enough to hold peaceful demonstrations then by all mean they can be allowed. Religious bodies need to be held accountable for rabble rousing, hopefully IK is the PM who will finally show the courage to do it.

The main aim of the govt is to take the heat out of the situation. I think Asiya should be allowed to leave but the Blasphemy law exists and that wont change. What needs to change is the procedures that lead to a complaint and its progression through the courts. The reason no lower court was willing to overturn the original decision was because the judges know that they will be killed by nut cases. In the end it took the bravery of the SC and the backing of the IK and Coas to bring justice.
