Breakdown of what exactly happened
  1. With just over a minute remaining in the match, Pawan Sehrawat from the Indian team was forced to go in for a do-or-die raid.
  2. During his raid, Pawan went out of bounds without making contact with any Iranian defenders.
  3. In response, Amirhossein Bastami and three other Iranian defenders rushed towards Pawan in an attempt to push him out.
  4. This led to a moment of confusion, as it was unclear whether Pawan had been successfully tackled or not.
  5. Initially, Iran was awarded a point for their efforts to stop Pawan.
  6. However, the Indian contingent, including players and officials, began arguing with the on-court umpire and the TV officials.
  7. After further review and perhaps another referral, the officials decided to award four points to India. It’s mentioned that the number of points could vary depending on the number of players who went out with Pawan.
  8. This decision led to protests from the Iranian team.
  9. The final decision seems to be based on both old and new rules. According to the old rule, India would get four (or possibly five) points, while the new rule would give one point to each team because one of the Iranian defenders (Bastami) went out of the line (self-out).
Why should they be banned !! Why were Iranians protesting even after they got one point.

We have won the Gold !! Kudos to the team for standing there ground.
Because when rules are not clear. Decision of officials must be final. After checking, the officials gave both the teams one point. It was at this point Pawan and Indian coach held everyone ransom, totally refused to accept this decision and started jumping like maniacs.

Officials under pressure checked again and gave 3 points to India and 1 to Iran.

This is similar to when the 3rd umpire given not out. Bowling team refused to accept and stop playing, later under pressure the decision is changed to out.

Good Summary.
i do not claim to know all the rules of international Kabbadi, but this is what i summarize from the lobby rule which is was was brought into contention after Pawan Sherawat's do or die raid.
- As per Kabbadi league rules, which is more dynamic and implements rule changes or innovations more frequently and faster than the Generic Kabaddi ruling body, What happpened after Pawan Sherawat did his do or die raid - the score should have been 1 - 1
The overall effect should be for the match to restart and to run its conclusion till time out and the side scoring max points would be the overall winner
- As the the CURRENT and EXISTING rules of the Kabbadi internation federation, Pawan took 4 guys out. We won then and there.
Our guys protested and rightly so for the second scenario, our point of view was put forth.
The Iraninan guys POV was about the first scenario and they stood their ground.

The officials in all their wisdom, made a grandscale almighty Biryani Burger Bissibele Baghali ghatogh Bok choy out of this and this stretched on like the never ending IPL when they could have simply referred to rule book and explained in persian with help of google translation to the Iranian worthies, but they decided to awared this as 1 - 1 .

End of the day, our guys accepted this - went out and slam dunked them.

We won and deservedly so! Kudos to our guys!

It was at this point Pawan and Indian coach held everyone ransom, totally refused to accept this decision and started jumping like maniacs.

Did they pull out a gun for this purpose or what? What leverage did the Indians have over referees that Iranians did not?

Did their jumping like maniacs as you say intimidate the referees and officials? Bizarre thing to say.

With 28 gold, India are 11 shy of South Koreans who have 39 currently. 10 years ago in 2014, they had 11 golds to show. A solid 2.5 times rise in gold medal count.

I had a look at the medal count for individual sports and not at all surprised to see swimming hog a disproportionate share of events.

If India continue on the trajectory, especially with focus on swimming and athletics aside from their traditional strengths, they can hope to rise to number 3 behind China and Japan in 8 years time.

In Hangzhou, China, the Indian women's kabaddi team won the gold medal by defeating Chinese Taipei 26-25 in a thrilling final.

With this, India has crossed the 100-medal mark in the Asian Games, India has so far won 25 gold, 35 silver and 41 gold medals.

Today is the 14th and final day of the Asian Games 2023 and India has completed a century of medals, in archery, Aditi Gopichand won bronze in the women's compound event, while Jyoti Sreekha won gold.

Ojas and Abhishek then won gold and silver respectively in the men's compound event final.

India beat Chinese Taipei to win gold in women's kabaddi, with India completing 100 medals in the Asian Games.

Meanwhile, India won the gold medal in the men's cricket final due to their rank.

It may be noted that India has created history by crossing the 100-medal mark for the first time in 72 years at the Asian Games.

India's previous best performance in Asian Games was at the 2018 Jakarta Games when it bagged 20 golds and a total of 70 medals.

Bharat continuing to impress in sports.
Let’s be Top 2 within 10 years.

And let’s aim for #1 spot in 20 years?

Realistic goal setting

Muhammad Asim, a member of the Pakistani team tried to troll India in a video where he is seen talking about thrashing the India in the group match. Egg on his face as India fought back and won the Squash Gold, beating him and his team.

Chinese sprinter Xie Zhenye has been named the flagbearer for China at the closing ceremony of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou. Xie won two gold medals in the men's 100m and men's 4x100m relay at the Games.

This is similar to when the 3rd umpire given not out. Bowling team refused to accept and stop playing, later under pressure the decision is changed to out.

Pawan and Indian coach threw the rulebook at them.

Rules were not changed by the international kabbadi federation. The rule was only changed in the pro kabbadi league in India.

Hence they were right to protest.

Finally IKF checked and got back to them that old rule applies.

Men's kabaddi final Suspended. What a shame. Pawan and that Indian coach simply acting like goons and refusing to accept any decision which is against them.

Even if they win gold I hope they are banned.
Absolutely no! you can find protesting to referee's decision shameful, but the rule was rule and I guess referring should have been better

The cauldron of the 19th Asian Games was extinguished inside Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium on Sunday night

in three asain games I expect India to be top two. That woild 12 yeses or so. Getting to top woukd take much longer. China is an authoritarian state and can focus single handedly to make changes. It will be much slower organic process in india. Probably 30 to 35 years to catch up. If I am not wrong China became number 1 in 1984 and have kept it since

egg on his face?

weirdest poster around here.

Pakistani govt desperately needs to inject funds into the non cricketing sports sector of Pakistan.

The corporate sector will not do it without the expectation of a return.

yeah. he tried to troll India by saying "hamne unhe badi buri tarah se haraya" to gain some likes on social media.. in the group stage.
Did not win the gold medal yet but still defeating India is somehow the cause of celebration for him.
Came back to bite him in the back as India won Gold by beating Pakistan.

Pakistan outperformed their rankings, while india just played at expected level in squash.
Total medal haul was as per expectations intact some real Olympic level prospects.
It will be incredibly hard to reach double digits in next year olympics

It's surprising that war-torn and Taliban-ruled Afghanistan has more medals than Pakistan in this Asian Games.

That is a pretty shameful fact from Pakistan's perspective. There is plenty of money/budget of different sports in Pakistan.
Now where is that money going?
