Breakdown of what exactly happened
- With just over a minute remaining in the match, Pawan Sehrawat from the Indian team was forced to go in for a do-or-die raid.
- During his raid, Pawan went out of bounds without making contact with any Iranian defenders.
- In response, Amirhossein Bastami and three other Iranian defenders rushed towards Pawan in an attempt to push him out.
- This led to a moment of confusion, as it was unclear whether Pawan had been successfully tackled or not.
- Initially, Iran was awarded a point for their efforts to stop Pawan.
- However, the Indian contingent, including players and officials, began arguing with the on-court umpire and the TV officials.
- After further review and perhaps another referral, the officials decided to award four points to India. It’s mentioned that the number of points could vary depending on the number of players who went out with Pawan.
- This decision led to protests from the Iranian team.
- The final decision seems to be based on both old and new rules. According to the old rule, India would get four (or possibly five) points, while the new rule would give one point to each team because one of the Iranian defenders (Bastami) went out of the line (self-out).
Why should they be banned !! Why were Iranians protesting even after they got one point.
We have won the Gold !! Kudos to the team for standing there ground.
Good Summary.
i do not claim to know all the rules of international Kabbadi, but this is what i summarize from the lobby rule which is was was brought into contention after Pawan Sherawat's do or die raid.
- As per Kabbadi league rules, which is more dynamic and implements rule changes or innovations more frequently and faster than the Generic Kabaddi ruling body, What happpened after Pawan Sherawat did his do or die raid - the score should have been 1 - 1
The overall effect should be for the match to restart and to run its conclusion till time out and the side scoring max points would be the overall winner
- As the the CURRENT and EXISTING rules of the Kabbadi internation federation, Pawan took 4 guys out. We won then and there.
Our guys protested and rightly so for the second scenario, our point of view was put forth.
The Iraninan guys POV was about the first scenario and they stood their ground.
The officials in all their wisdom, made a grandscale almighty Biryani Burger Bissibele Baghali ghatogh Bok choy out of this and this stretched on like the never ending IPL when they could have simply referred to rule book and explained in persian with help of google translation to the Iranian worthies, but they decided to awared this as 1 - 1 .
End of the day, our guys accepted this - went out and slam dunked them.
We won and deservedly so! Kudos to our guys!
