Rishabh Pant speaking during Post-Day 1 presser:

"In this innings, I wasn't in frame of mind where I felt I could take charge of the game looking at nature of the wicket."

"Sometimes you have to play secure cricket as there were occasions where I could have taken 50-50 chances but didn't," he added.

"You want to bat the way that comes naturally to you but keep evolving and trying to keep a balance between attack and defence."

"When you are not doing well you tend to overthink."

I dont care about winning. I just want us to see blood on the pitch. Broken bones from aus side.

Do you not live in Australia? So, you want to see broken bones of Aussie players even though you live in Australia.

That was between Khwaja, Bumrah and umpire. What was the need for Konstas to engage? Even Fox commentators are saying Konstas is humbled and learned a lesson but Pakistanis here still supporting him.
Where did I support him ? And why should I ? Why are you assuming if someone explains the situation means he is against India?

I like to see blood yes.

On the pitch it's war.

Outside pitch I like them all. I do live in aus.

My third fav team in cricket and second favourite after india in every other sport.

Pakistan careening to their TWENTIETH consecutive loss in the Southern hemisphere and Pakistani fans are busy concerned about some other team.

Well, at least they get to see the greatest Asian fast bowler in action. In their lifetime they have only seen likes of Ehsan Adil, Naseem Shah, Rao Iftikhar etc lol.

Beau Webster speaking during post-day 1 presser:

“Think there's definitely a method to go about batting on this wicket. But Jasprit is a world class bowler and no doubt he's going to challenge our whole batting group. He's phenomenal with his lengths and lines, it is going to be tough on a wicket that will offer a fair bit for him.”

“It was a pretty seamer-friendly track and most of the day the ball stayed pretty new with the grass coverage. It is not an abrasive square either. So, the plan was to bowl a little bit fuller and entice those front foot defences and front foot drives.”

“Thought Scotty (Boland) was excellent, he's been unbelievable since he came back into the team and saw why he's a world class bowler. Thought all the bowlers were really good today to bowl them out for 200.”

“There were a couple of unplayable balls, when it seams that much it can be hard to get a wicket at times. We saw a nice-ish partnership (Jadeja-Pant), where we struggled to get a breakthrough through the sheer seam movement. We beat the bat a lot but couldn't find the edge.” The 31-year-old was all praise for Boland and said the pacer can find a way to get wickets on any surface and when there is help on offer, he is on par with the best in business.”

“If there's anything in the wicket he finds it and if there's nothing in the wicket he still manages to find a way through.”

“He's been fantastic this whole series when he's got his chance, he's relentless. I think it's his line and length and his natural angle that makes it really hard for right-handers, but when we see him go round the wicket to left-handers it's impressive stuff.”

“It's great to watch from the third slip today, the amount of movement he gets and how accurate he is and how challenging he is for both left and right handers. He's been superb, he can bowl long spells and back up the next day. He's a ripping bloke so everyone is stoked when he does well which seems to be all the time at the moment.” Webster said he was happy to put his nondescript village, Snug in Tasmania, a part of the cricketing map.”

“My phone has been blowing off with messages and calls. It is a proud moment especially since I come from a small place and it is nice to put it on the map.”

Bumrah! What a guy! Nobody in Indian Cricket gave the adrenal rush while watching cricket and supporting India... Not even Sachin...

The way he looked back at Konstas after picking up the wicket on final ball... It just meant that Konstas was concerned about his partner when Bumrah was waiting to bowl, now that he lost his partner Bumrah (instead of celebrating the wicket) just wanted to check whether he is still concerned about his partner now that he got out! That's a fitting reply... This somewhat reminds me of Prasad/Sohail incident in world cup!

Konstas is 19.

Bumrah is 31. Kohli is 36. I am assuming they didn't do age fudgings.

It is shameful that these old veterans are picking on a kid. I find it cowardly.

He is not a kid. He is playing international cricket. International cricket is not for kids or weak hearted.

India needs to take minimum 3or 4 wickets in morning session to stay alive in this game .

But chances are very slim .
Konstas is almost guaranteed to go out swinging tomorrow. Let's see how labu and Smith go, if one gets out early tomorrow I fancy us getting head early too. 3-4 wickets in first session tomorrow is not too far fetched!

Prasidh is the one i am worried about. In helpful SA conditiosn he looked toothless

Given the atrocious form of 35 plus seniors i didn't expect this series would go to 5th test to get the result. Having said that India had distinct chance of doing a three-peat until that clown Rohit joined the side messed everything up.

I cannot believe BCCI is persisting with this guy for 5 years.

I'm not getting good vibes But hope for the best .

India can’t allow Australia to score even 250 in this inning. As soon as Australia cross 250, we are in race of saving the test match.

There is no way KOhli should be picked for England series. This is abysmal
There was no way Kohli should have been picked for this series, last series against NZ or any series before that during 2-3 years at the very minimum. But he did. Don't be surprised if he keeps getting picked for another 2-3 years at least like his bhakts Shastri & Manjrekar are already suggesting.

That shows you how spineless BCCI actually is and one should not go by the façade of them being powerful.
Yea. Occupying key batting spot who often times decide which way the Test match goes since that spot is occupied by elite batsman of the team. Instead we have this clown playing in that spot completely ruining it. When you want fix something you address all problems at the same time not one by one. India had golden opportunity to retain the BGT. It cannot happen because of this PR driven team selection.

This reminds me of FLintoff riling up Yuvraj singh and Broad faced the wrath because of that. Sometimes sledging, staged confrontation works in your favor. Sometimes it works against you. For Kohli it has not been working oflate. He riled up Bairstow. Biarstow took it out on Siraj. His team mates suffer because of his aggression. Same way Konstas learnt a lesson how he can rile up opposition and his team mate face the wrath because of that. When Kohli was at his peak Australia made sure they didn't rile up Kohli as he thrived under such situation. I remmeber an instant where Australia riled up Ambrose and felt the heat. Wisden has covered it

The only hope for Aussies tomorrow against Bumrah fire.

Every ground is favorite ground for these 2 in Australia. lol THey have good numbers here. This is why beating Australia in Australia requires winning more than one session. You need sustained attack. West Indies made use of pink ball vagaries. Otherwise in a red ball game they stand no chance against Australia.

Pant's innings was super weird today. He took taking responsibility to whole new level. His job is not to tuk tuk for long periods. Because of guys like Kohli he is in this situation. He wasted so many pies from Webster and got out going after Boland best bowler on view. Whole team is in a confused state of mind. Bumrah being the bowler can't control these things. Batsmen have to help the team. Cannot all be on Jaiswal. Main culprit is Rohit who disrupted the batting order , dropped Gill. Whole team lost the rhythm because of him.

Love the aggression from both sides at the end. :akhtar

That's what makes this stuff entertaining as a neutral and it's going to be interesting to see what happens today between Bumrah and Konstas.

International cricket is also a professional sport. It isn't a free for all hooligan showdown

If I was a betting man I would say Konstas will get out early. There is no way you can sustain playing macho shots in red ball against a top tier team against the new ball.

Konstas will go early regardless of whether he decides to play aggressively or not. He is more likely to get out playing defensively so might as well go out swinging.

With Bumrah not bowling at full tilt it is easy batting phase for Australia right now. Nothing happening either. It is going to a long day for INdia. Wonder India should have fielded first.

Oh ho out ho gya. Marnus lunging around like an idiot.

Time to sleep. Hopefully will wake up to see @Devadwal crying but India is in control now of this match. Smith is on the field too early.
