That is there. But you have a cascading effect when you miss your no.1 bowler. If Boland misses they have Cummins and Starc. But If Bumrah misses India has nobody. ALl noob bowlers. Even Siraj is a rookie relatively. In this match just like first test India took the lead. That is the difference.
Siraj isn't bad. He looks mediocre bowling alongside Bumrah. Krishan is a good talent and should play for India. You are missing a 4th seemer on SENA conditions and a quality spinner on home conditions. India shouldn't have difficulty finding batting talent

Gautam Gambhir speaking during post-match presser after India’s six-wicket loss to Australia in Sydney:

“I can’t talk about the future of any player. It’s up to them as well.”

“What I can say is that they still have the hunger, they still have the passion, they are tough people.

“And hopefully they can continue to take it and bring it forward. But ultimately, as we all know, that whatever they plan, they will plan for the best.”

“I would like to say that so many reports have been written and so many things have been said. At least, we can be a little more sensible in that regard.”

“If a captain, not even a captain, if a leader has taken this decision ahead of his team, then I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. So, a lot of things have been said and a lot of things have been said.”

“Ultimately, the international team is not sitting there, the most important thing is the team and the most important thing is the country.”

“Every individual knows that his game and his hard work is the most important thing for any sport and any profession.”

They still have the hunger? Even i have the hunger. I eat 3 days a day. What the hell is passion ? I don't think Boland displayed any "passion". He was just disciplined. Things automatically happened. Passion won't make you not edge the 7th stump line ball.

What a generic crap from Gambhir. Atleast admit to the errors like team selection.

Sunil Gavaskar is upset that he wasn’t called to hand over the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to Australia:

“I certainly would have loved to have been there for the presentation. After all it is the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and it is about Australia and India. I mean, I am here on the ground. To me it should not matter that Australia won when it comes to the presentation. They played better cricket so they won. That’s fine. Just because I am an Indian (I did not present the trophy). I would have been happy to present the trophy with my good friend Allan Border.”

India went with

Past by sell date Kohli
Past by sell date Rohit
Past by sell date Jadeja
Return from injury Pant
Last minute opener Rahul
21 year old Reddy with no experience

Only inform batsman in that line up was Jaiswal. Even for him this is first Australian tour. So you would expect a bit of support from top order. That is when Pant becomes more dangerous.

India batting averages

Look where Rohit is. This is quiet a damaging contribution. Same goes for Kohli. Apart from the 100 which he made largely against Marsh, Labuschagne, Lyon bowling he was as bad as Rohit. Rahul unusually was consistent in more than 2 tests. Predictably fell off like he has been doing all his career. A 21 year old NItish REddy whose domestic FC batting average is 21 is the 2nd run getter. That shows how woeful Indian line up is.

Webster was an amazing selection in the end for us.

Also, fantastic leadership from Cummo to turnaround and lead the boys after the Perth loss to 3 wins (should have won in Brissy too). Always comes through in the end.

HAHAHAHAHAA THE JOKES WRITE THEMSELVES, no wonder sunny g was going bonkers in commentary with his comments. Stupid, stupid, stupeeeedddd. He takes his name on the trophy as matter of life and death. :yk

Sheesh, how much can a man cry? Pretty weak from Sunil.

Congrats Australia on series win.

Bumrah didn't fancy trying to defend a low total so all of sudden gets "injured"

You have ATG Malcolm Marshall playing a test with a broken thumb

Difference in mentality

Won't be shocked if bumrah starts to think more and more bout personal records then team wins, probably realizes he can't carry this team 🤭

Congrats to Team India. Ended the series on a high. Could have been better contested if Bumrah had more support and batting stood up. Series went to last ball but due to rain.

Anyway, Interesting to see S Boland debut at 31 and leaking at 35, as a “backup pacer”. Some posters want youngsters beauties at 20 to debut, and scoff at the sight of any debut over 30.

If you are referring to Asian bowlers, in terms of fitness none of them would be remotely close to Boland. He is almost like a robot.

Absolutely. What matters are fitness and skills. Anyone who can win you test match should debut/play as long as they are test ready. Rest is noise.

Agreed. Clearly he doesn't have much say in that dressing room.

I've seen his analysis of the game before he became coach. He's used to be very honest and insightful

He has a very high recency bias. He once said SKY must play tests after a couple of good T20 outings. He doesn't analyze pros and cons of a decision. Look at his support staff picks. All straight from KKR IPL team. How can Tendoschate do coaching for tests. His team never played Test match.

He will soon understand it's easy to have populist opinions on sideline but difficult to make them when in charge.

He is similar to most Pakistani coaches who can talk on TV but don't know how to deliver in the job.

There's a reason why things talk in Indian dressing room but from Pakistan team, rumors come out very often

Once you become a coach, you'll need to be diplomatic because your chair will demand it.

But atm he's coming across as someone who lives in denial. He has to strike a balance

Pat Cummins speaking during the post-match presser:

"It felt like it was kind of see-sawing throughout the whole series. So to finish it 3-1, to hold the trophy is an amazing feeling."

"The extra layer is now securing a spot in the World Test Championship Final, which was always a huge goal in this cycle."

"I think being a five-Test match series it helps but you saw with the Gabba is you do start thinking anything can happen and (then the) MCG day goes down to the last hour, you do feel like you might play really well and not have a series win to show for it.”

"I think as well when you start the series behind things, a lot of things get questions, fairly and unfairly, but again, I think it shows the strength of the group to kind of stay strong, know that we weren’t at our best but we can be better, not get caught up in a lot of the external noise and clutter and just focus on what makes us good players and a good team.”

"And that's one of the nice and rewarding parts of this series."

"I think more importantly it's what you don't change.”

"Of course after a loss like that (in Perth), you reassess where you're at. But we're really happy with how most of the guys were going.”

"I thought we had a bad week, but I thought our game plans, methods, selection, all that was pretty much where we wanted to be, just maybe our execution was a little bit off.”

"Each individual kind of had a few things to work on. I know Marnus (Labuschagne) worked so hard and wanted to change way he wanted to approach the game, for us bowlers maybe a little bit of execution as well as maybe some slight bowling changes once you've had a look at the opposition.”

"But I think you can very easily panic in those situations, change a lot."

"One of the things I love most about Test cricket is it challenges in so many different ways.”

"You need more than just 11 players. You need amazing squad, amazing support staff to be able to win everywhere in the world.”

"And I think that's what we've been able to do. An amazing series in England, won the World Test Championship in England, but also some of the subcontinent too throughout the years.”

"I think that consistency over a few years to do that with a very similar squad has been massive.

"I think it's more important to realise we’re number one in the world. We're a very good team. Stay strong.”

"It's huge for us (defending the World Test Championship crown).”

"We talk about the World Test championship a lot. You know, it's the trophy we're really proud to hold. So we want to go back and defend it.”

"I think it's a great tournament in that you've got to play well consistently and across all different conditions against different teams.

"And yeah, it's it's great to be there again, (we) can’t wait to get over there."

Disappointed with the result but an excellent series nonetheless..

Australia still are a notch above us anywhere.

A big shout out to @Mamoon for predicting aus thrashing even after India won the 2dt test and everyone believed India would win BGT.

Ik mamoon and I have our differences but he deserved alot of credit for having God like predictions. Even predicted pak vs eng test victory.

Huge huge shout out and to honour his words

@Devadwal @Rajdeep @jeeteshssaxena @Mesozoic @Vikram1989 @RexRex @pillionrider

Most Indian fans predicted 5-0 before the series.

Even after Perth, with Rohit coming back as captain, everyone predicted a 4-1.

Not that big of a deal.

Give credit to people when it's due. Not every pakistani is bad.ill give credit to Indians who predicted their downfall lol

The guy needs to understand that not every media engagement is a war. Every time you see him speak, it’s like hes just trying to portray this tough guy image of himself and the Indian team.

This attitude means that his responses are always crafted just to play to the gallery. Nothing insightful

Bhumrahs abscence in the final innings with the ball turned out to be the difference between 3-1 & 2-2.

Australians were tested and Bhumrah tortured them with the ball. They had to dig really deep and the 3-1 score doesn't reflect how hard India made them work.

Pacers on both sides should now go on a much needed vacation and enjoy daily massages, ice baths etc.

With Bumrah, India is in top 3.

Without Bumrah, India is #5 or #6 (a mid-tier team).

They are reliant on Bumrah a lot.

All the old generation in pp have stated that they don't have much hope.

The new kids got a little too excited but give them time. Because we were also like them once.

Just a regulation win for Australia.

They don’t lose at home easily. Not sure why some are acting surprised.

India was never in contention to win the series. A fluke one Test win doesn’t mean anything.

Similarly they also lose fairly easily in Asian conditions.

Mr. Sunny should understand not everything revolves around India and Indians.

It is just a bilateral trophy. It is not a World Cup or anything. Anyone can hand it over to the winning team.

Virat kohli shouldn't be dropped. He scored a match winning 100. He should be respected and should play for 3-4 years more.

I agree. Just like Shan Masood should play for another 4-5 years for Pakistan. Clearly the most talented opener available and ,more importantly , the only one who can speak decent English.

295 run win is not fluke win. That is called Shellacking lol Remember India declared and won. Fluke win happened at the MCG where they were using Head almost giving up the test and SCG where Bumrah almost missed the entire match.

Do you think England have a chance of beating Australia in the ashes later this year? Aussie top order looks very ropey. Usman will be probably retire and Konstas is not ready. He was batting like Bumrah in that last innings.

India will need to regroup and try to beat England in the summer. If they don't, the title of home track bullies for their test team will remain.
