What's new

Australia (191 & 93/2) demolish India (244 & 36/9) by 8 wickets to win the 1st Test

I can't take this man.

This is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much pain.

The bowlers should not bowl in the next innings as a mark of protest.

What the hell man.

What changes would you have made to the batting line-up?

That was a really pathetic stroke from Kohli. Shows he is only physically here.

This wicket is a strange one, its very tough.. If we can get 120 target it can make it tricky for Aus... We still have the 38 year old grandpa Wridhi Mahan Swaha batting for us instead of a flamboyant, stroke player Pant, so we have hope..

I heard someone comparing pakistans bowling with indias bowling the last time pak toured. Also care to compare the batting.

What's the point of changes when we flop at 19-6.

It wouldn't have mattered.

Just that these people are woefully under-prepared.

We all knew it.

I even knew it heart of hearts this tour is gonna be so tough and had posted the same.

But 19-6 is UNIMAGINABLE. :(

You are watching Test match and what happens to modern batting greats when the track is doing a little more than the fun of hitting through the line. This morning, I explained to another BD poster - why DK Lille’s average is worse than McGrtah ..... he bowled to batsmen who knew to survive on difficult tracks, made it really difficult for bowlers to get wickets.
Lol as if McGrath was bowling to nobodies.

I am not sure why people are surprised (yes, I am also - 19/6 is .... u know).

BUT, before the series, didn’t I tell you guys that this Indian lineup jaded aged three years into the wrong side of 30s (+ add Asian discounts on certificate) .... it’ll be difficult this time.

Some how, some how India has to post 100 here - any thing can happen chasing around 170. And the way Indian innings is moving, chances are three that Aussies will start to chase either tide of Tea, it won’t be easy against three Indian pacers. Fascinating Test Match, perfect for Friday night.

19.6

15 overs

Indian batsmen need to see off this spell here , lesser bowlers will come in .

What a disgrace, lets see the Indians beating their chest and saying how great they are.

True, whilst we are not winning at 6/19 in this test, we'd struggle to match 0-12consecutive, stuff of legends.....and there are heaps of us who enjoy the game for what it is, wihtout the chest thumping m8

Why the hell is he going home?

Screw the political correctness but I don't like it one bit.

I wasn't sure of it.

This is the same guy who played cricket the day his father died.

In many fields, people don't have the opportunity to just go home when their wives have their baby.

I know it's his right but I can't articulate my thoughts in a very reasonable manner.

I am not ok with it tho.

Bowling has been nothing too special, it's us who have been absolutely dire.

Lol, Saha is absolutely clueless against Cummins. When aussie bowlers all click at the same time, they're lethal

Aniket: Now India will understand the value of dropped catches. Should have got a 90-100 runs lead. Would have been very beneficial in such situation

The fielding coach needs to be SACKED ASAP.

We have been WOEFUL for so long.

I am fuming.

Lol as if McGrath was bowling to nobodies.

He indeed wasn’t. BUT difference is the tempo of the games - before ODI took over the lead, teams used to form Test lineups with proper 1-2-3; may not be flashy but extremely difficult to dislodge. Now you are watching 1-2-3 after T20 has taken over the lead ......

Batting hasn't been even that bad with the exception of Shaw and Kohli. Just very, very good bowling

This. Dhoni couldn't see Ziva for 3 full months from her birth.

Kohli has been extremely selfish, should have rather stayed at home than be here.

There will be other test series vs Austria but he won’t get another chance to attend the birth of his first child. The decision to leave is perfectly reasonable. Although I get why fans won’t like it lol

Man, can't even look at the scoreboard, haver never rated Saha's batting but I will be uber delighted if he proves me wrong today.

India's fielding let Australia get to within 50 of India LOL.

And now they are gone, 4-0 coming up LOL.

Yeah man.

Dhoni wouldn't have done this.

And if this was WC....would Kohli had missed it?

All he needed was to stay 2 more weeks and he could take a 3 month vacation for all we care.

Thats why we wont do anything in this series. The batting has very little fight outside of Pujara. Embarrassing stuff here

Australia has just nullified the lead advantage India had. 75 for 6 is a very good lead on this pitch. India still in the game very much

Dude it's not like these professional cricketers just immediately unlearn how to field with a change in coaches and must be taught again. The onus, ultimately lies with the actual fielders holding onto their chances. A different fielding coach wouldn't have changed much.

Aussies with quickest 150 test wickets...

Grimmett 28 tests

Lillee, Warne, McGill, Cummins 31 tests...

India need to get to 120-140, then the bowling attack needs to repeat the 2nd innings preformances.

Oh my :)))

Someone check up on Mamoon. Surely he saw this one on the back of his hand too? :troll

I know he gets hated here and he isn't the best bat but that dude is mentally strong.

He is known for playing gritty knocks in crunch situations.

Let's hope he does it today.

Winbiz is incompetent. Just few minutes ago they were showing 65% for India, now showing 11%.

It's a bit of a gimmick. It doesn't predict anything, it simply reflects the position of the score. It doesn't think about possibilities, just reflects probabilities.

Josh is in his 3rd over, means he’ll bowl 54 more, while Commins will be replaced by Starc. Then Josh will be replaced by Cummins for a 4 overs shorts bursts. If Indian cricket bings lasts longer, the. they’ll bring Lyon from one end and bowl 3-4 overs’ short spells, rotating 3 pacers.
Junaids - this is how you operate with three pacers bowling absolute flat out. And remember, these three have bowled 20 overs each on day 1, less than 35 hours ego.

This. Sacking fielding coach won't be of much use.

Yeah man but didn't you guys see a difference when that Pont guy was your coach....Whoever it was.

How come Ishant struggled for years but one county stint with Gillespie as his coach and he became an AMAZING bowler?

Read up his story.

Technique matters and small things matter.

I blame Bumrah to start this collapse today, careless batsman
Bumrah did his job yesterday. Blame shaw. Bumrah didnt even have to become hght watchman had shaw survived a few more overs till stumps.

Vihari has an opportunity here to make a name for himself , a fifty here would be priceless.

We can always justify it.

It's an Aus test series.

Ok if it was WC 2023...would that be fine?

Where do we draw the line?

I get you tho.

I agree to an extent, but when you drop SIX catches, then I don't know whether the coach can be blamed there..

Totally agree with this.

It's a rank poor decision by Kohli to derail the team by jumping ship in the middle of a series.

I don't mind the fact that he wants to be present for the birth of his child, however, if that's the case he should have let someone else take full responsibility for the test series and left the tour after the white ball series. At this stage, the whole distraction has been a millstone around the neck of his teammates, as if the team has no value beyond Kohli.

Green will definitely get some overs as well.

So at least we won't be bowled out for lowest ever score, probably!

Honestly batting is still possible on this pitch. Its just that Aus has bowled perfectly and Ind have collapsed badly. India need atleast 200 run target to stay in the match.

India lost 4/0 today.

And then 5/4 LOL at India, thinking they were going to win this, when your top 6 only last 30 minutes.

Not this game but it's a trend mate.

Wheres the accountability?

Will you or I have our jobs/businesses if results are so dismal?

Indians drop similar amount of catches even at home.

Only difference is our bowlers easily make up the difference taking 10-15 wickets each innings if required.

Overseas, it's sooo hard to do it without paying for it dearly.

This. Well said. There is more talk about birth of Kohli's child than about the team.

Would you feel the same way if we were winning this test ?

Now after this test with virat gone they are going to get humiliated more. It's gonna be so much fun.

I see this as a western trend rather than an Indian one. Now witness more and more Indian cricketers doing this in future.

Never ever witnessed any other Indian cricketer missing such an important series to see the birth of his child. And we have had far better cricketers than Kohli.

What a Poor shot by Saha. Not needed when you are trying to pass your all time lowest score in Tests.
