What's new

Australia (269) defeat India (248) by 21 runs to win the 3rd ODI - Take series by a 2-1 margin

Lesson for India is they can’t compensate for the lack of quality in batting by playing all rounders

Jadeja the fraud :))) Cant take wickets. Can't score runs at a decent clip. Most useless undeserving white ball cricketer we have played since 2015.

We played DK, Dhoni and Jadeja in the 2019 World Cup at one point. No wonder we got dumped out unceremoniously

Pandya should be 'Match ka Mujrim'. There was no need to play shot like this at that stage. He could have get it closer without taking risks.

Is it only me or this entire Australia tour of India has been extremely boring?

I use to support india

From now on I will never Support india

Surya kumar yadav 🥴 3 amazing innings in the series

My three favorite teams my Pakistan Cameron green Australia and Harry brook England :)

Australia is probably the only team that can go to India and beat India in an ODI series.

Comical run out to hand over the ODI series on platter to Australia.

What a victory By Australia, some people thought before ODI series started India would walk over Australia, cuz India was home team.

Never doubt the Aussies Mate.

Great Series win.

How many more failures are needed to throw out these oldies and Dravid?

Adam Zampa starred with a four-wicket spell as Australia beat India by 21 runs in the third and final ODI to clinch the series 2-1. Chasing a target of 270, India were bowled out for 248, after a middle-order collapse. Earlier, Kuldeep Yadav and Hardik Pandya took three wickets each as Australia were bowled out for 269 in the third ODI encounter in Chennai. Axar also scalped the wicket of Marcus Stoinis while Hardik was the pick of the bowlers for India, taking three wickets in quick succession to halt Australia's charge. Mitchell Marsh was the top-scorer for the visitors with 47. Earlier, Australia skipper Steve Smith won the toss and opted to bat against India.

India LOI team has become weaker it seems. They used to steamroll everyone in bilaterals.

Regardless of this series loss, India will be favourites at the WC. At the very least pitches will be curated to advantage India in their games. If they don’t atleast make the finals, with the home support, the familiarity of conditions, travel and more supportive pitches, than it’ll be seen as a massive disappointment.

India should rather play Washington and Axar both and drop Jadeja. Keep Jadeja for tests. He is not used to this fast slam cricket, batting at 7.

Where do you see pitch curating to favour India in LOIs? :inti We won in 2011 because we were that good. Now we will be beaten because e are not good enough.

A great wake up call for India, they will be better prepared for the WC, I see them in the finals

A new World No.1 team has been crowned in the MRF Tyres ICC Men's ODI Team Rankings after Australia defeated India by 21 runs in the final ODI in Chennai.

Australia are the new team at the top of the MRF Tyres ICC Men's ODI Rankings after their thrilling win over India in Chennai.

The 21-run win takes Australia marginally ahead of India at the top, with the visitors racking up 113.286 rating points compared to the Men in Blue's 112.638. Before the start of the final ODI, India were on top with 114 rating points to Australia's 112.

After a cakewalk in Visakhapatnam, Australia were made to work hard for their victory but managed to edge past Rohit Sharma's men to claim the series 2-1.

Opting to bat first, Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head got Australia off to a blazing start yet again. Just when they were looking to take the game away from India, the golden arm of Hardik Pandya ended the 68-run stand.

Pandya struck in each of his subsequent overs to remove Steve Smith for a duck and the well-set Marsh as well. He was called into action again, this time on the field as he gobbled up a good catch running in from deep to end David Warner's stay.

Australia were in trouble after they lost half the side for 138 when Marcus Stoinis and Alex Carey counter-attacked with a 58-run stand. The pair fell in quick succession but important lower-order contributions took the visitors to 269, though they were bowled out with an over to spare.

In response, Indian openers too were quick off the blocks before Rohit Sharma's favoured pull shot became the reason for his downfall. Shubman Gill, who was looking in great touch, was trapped in front by Adam Zampa soon thereafter.

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul played with great caution, ensuring India do not lose a heap of wickets as they did in the previous ODI. Just as Rahul started to break free, he holed out in the deep, ending the 69-run stand. India's decision to promote Axar up the order did not work out with a mix-up coupled with brilliant fielding from Smith and Alex Carey costing the southpaw his wicket.

Ashton Agar, who had no wickets to show after nine overs despite bowling brilliantly, turned the game on its head in his last over. He scalped Kohli just after his fifty and Suryakumar Yadav for a third golden duck in a row.

Adam Zampa put the final nails in the coffin with the wickets of the last recognised pair of Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja after the pressure of the scoring rate got to them.

Mohammad Shami's twin boundaries gave India hopes of a miracle in the 47th over but Stoinis had the last laugh. A run-out spelt the end of India's innings, 21 runs short of the target.

Not until the end of worldcup. Some of these seniors are nothing more than utility players. I trust someone like Axar now more than proper batsmen like Rohit or Kohli or KL.

India was unlucky that Axar was runout today. He would have easily scored a 40 or 50 on that wicket. He is an excellent player of spin.

I agree generally. But I don't agree that these seniors are even utility players. The likes of Kohli, Rahul are not even utility players in any shape or form.

Kohli should have been able to win yesterday's game but he didn't even come close despite being well set.

Kohli and Rohit are past their prime in ODIs. They will play a few knocks here and there but will not dominate a tournament anymore.

Rahul or Iyer are at their peak but their peak level is 45-47 average.

None of the current Indian batsman from top 7 is capable of dominating the World Cup with bat. Hence I feel the World Cup is very open for rest of the team as current Indian team has few great players who are past their prime and not all that good enough and some decent players at peak but their peak level is not very high.

Hopefully, this means that Shaheen gets to rip through the Indian batting at least three times this year.

Shaheen bottled it big time last World Cup vs India when they needed 48 runs of 3 overs and he made it chased.
