What's new

Australia [288/5] beat India [254/9] by 34 runs in the first ODI, take 1-0 series lead

Agreed. 50 overs is often enough for a proper innings to be played, not like T20 where it is come in and start swinging and keep swinging.

And any batsman below #4 is irrelevant in a T20, unlike in ODI.

Aus need Sharma out. Then middle order will be exposed. Dhoni alone cant win it. They haven’t got all top 3 out yet, RS Still there. Like I said before get top 3 within 100-150 runs defending 270-300 you have great chance. But RS still there, and looks like Aus have no answers now. This partnership killing them.

RR is not too much of an issue, these two just need to take this to the last 10.

Aussie commentator says "Dhoni never shows any sign of panic".

Yeah, but it is us Indian fans who are panicking at the thought of Dhoni playing an innings which will punch his ticket to the WC!

Dhoni out after scoring his fifty. How predictable this man has become!

I hope DK and Sharma finish it off for India.

Is there only 1 review in ODI these days??

But one of the top 3, still there. Sharma will take them home. I reckon 150 odd from the Hitman.

His ticket to the WC has been punched for some time now, and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

One can only hope that he will justify his selection and score some runs.

That "hack" won you a WC.

Have some respect.

Indians only respect Tendulkar so much so that they carried him in the test team in his last two years only to make record though he was in horribly out of form. But they hate their world cup winning captan who has just made a time demanding fifty after a devastating start .Bravo Indians

Isha Guha is a great commentator, she has a really soothing voice and commentates on the action well.

Probably one of my favorites atm, she isn't a token female commentator like in a lot of sports. Isha is actually good at her job.

Worst fan base in the world. Bar none.

I would love to have a player like Dhoni in our team. If he won us a WC, he could continue in the side until 45 for all I care. It's not just that either, he's given Indians so many moments over his career and now they're hoping he fails and they hurl insults at him. Disgusting, this is MS freaking Dhoni.

I think Anjum Chopra was far better.

For me. Dhoni should bat at 3, claming things, playing his recent years slow style and others bat around him. Kohli should take it for the team and bat at 4, or even 5 to balance their batting line up. 4 would be good. Or Dhoni at 4. No way is he the finisher he was!

Agreed, I think he'd be handy at 4. Think that's a spot no one has nailed down either.

Indians are a demanding fan base. They go by actual performance and not sentiment. Dhoni may have won India a WC but that does not entitle him to roost in the team forever, even sticking on when he is clearly unable to perform. Like a champion, he must know when to quit.

The game is and should be bigger than any one individual.

With or without Dhoni, the odds of them winning the WC aren't great.

IMO this team doesn't have it in them to handle the pressure of a WC KO game.

She’s an Indian bong.. I bet many didnt know she’s from Calcutta. She’s quite charming.
Her smile reminds me of Rannee Mukerjee of the early 2000s films I watched of Ranees.

Why does she always have to bring up the IPL in every conversation?

Even in the test matches it was the same thing.

Is she after a commentary contract like David Lloyd?

Gambhir on the other hand I don't mind.

Rohit has to turn on the afterburners now.

Probably has seen a lot of the Indian players in the IPL.

Whatever. There are 300 days of the year when you shouldn't give a damn about that tournament. Somebody should whisper that we are *gasp* *horror* in that bracket of 300 days.

Would be a day to celebrate once Dhoni is removed from this side

Absolute embarrassment

Paisa.. money talks. Getting paid to promote ipl. Or maybe just being way too appreciative of which has given her a big career after her cricket career. Then again IPL needed her as she speaks English well and from UK, Ind origin, knows the game well. To mix it up with opposite genders in the combox, build up shows.

Who's left for India?

As much as Indians would hate to admit it, they would have been better off having Dhoni out there.

India has left too many runs for last 10. Still a chance until Sharma is there.

I really wonder... Has Karthik performed in a single inning before and after the Nidahas trophy final fluke?

Can somebody give me a ping when Karthik has played his final international match?

Of course it was a fluke. He has been part of the team for around 14 years now and still plays like a rookie looking to establish himself. A garbage player.

Does the IPL really need any more promotion, god ..?

If Rohit improves his record in two of SA/SL/Ban, and has a good WC, he can go down as an ATG. Averaging 58 as an opener with a SR of 93 is insanely good.

Why does he keep appearing i the team? Does he have some high level contacts?

Didn't he knock Bangladesh out of a World Cup last time? And the Champion's Trophy last year.

We barely tour there for us to him to particularly look to improve his BD record.

Why are Indian fans getting this excited?

Most of us knew this is exactly what's going to happen. There are only 3 scenarios that happen when India is batting

1) 2 of the top 3 score - India puts an excellent score and wins
2) 1 of the top 3 score, and middle order fails with Dhoni scoring 40 runs at 50 SR) - India is just shy of a good score (or a target)
3) 1 of the top 3 score, and the middle order fails - We are thrashed

This is one is the scenario 2 playing out. We will get to within 25 runs of the Aussie score, but still lose.

+1

Ever since our middle order went to pieces since 2015 it's all become so predictable.

sadly what you and me and many others can see, the people paid to make sure the team plays well can't or don't want to.

Jadeja doing what he does best. Trying to score his 15-20 runs with no impact on the game. The guy is a useless ODI batsman who just can't hit big shots.

Does IND fan now see, why we keep crying over that Rohit Sharma no ball call in last WC? Look how he alone is almost winning this game for Aus as rest of the batsman arent doing anything.

I would rather not reach the semis of the WC with a young MO, than reach the semis and lose with this MO. Because we aint winning jack.

I would rather we try 2 of Gill, Pant and Shaw at 4,5,6 than this sorry lot. I am ok to get kicked out of the WC with these young guns. IT would be valuable experience for the next WC in India.

Also we need to go with a 6th bowler who is a part timer. Even if we play 2 spinners (2 of Yadav, Chahal or Jadeja) and 2 pacers (Bumrah, and 1 of Shami and Kumar) and Pandya, we need to have another part timer to bowl a few overs incase if one of these gets injured. This is where Jadhav is crucial.

Useless jadeja being useless in odi, the day dhoni and his ******* culture are out of the team it will be Indian cricket's greatest day.

RS is class. Makes it look so easy.

Jadeja Played a foolish shot. Should’ve just support sharma, giving the strike back.
