Root is finished
He has lost it for over a year now
My prediction of England winning at a canter is looking altogether dodgy at the moment.![]()
It's Old Trafford. Wicket didn't become a belter even after that 2015 revamp of English ODI pitches. Even last time around, England struggled to chase a modest score against a depleted, unmotivated Australian side and only managed to do so thanks to some other-worldly brilliance from Buttler. They won by 1 wicket only
Moeen, Woakes and Wood to follow. England are well in it.
If this pair stays for another 10 overs, England should win.
England may lose this now. Only 3 wickets are left.
I doubt they can pull it off. No wickets left.
But if they do, than england will only prove that they are a beast team as they pull off wins from unlikely situations
The fact they took the game this far despite being 68/4 shows how good their LOI side is.
Are they bowling very good or does billing just suxk in power hitting

Lol even Pak reserve batsman scored 2 100s vs Aus. Ah I see you have already prepared an excuse if Eng lose. Smart chapEngland have outstanding depth. Even their reserve batsmen are capable of scoring a brilliant hundred against a world class bowling attack.
A pretty good game. England are still favorites to win the series 2-1.
The absence of Stokes has made a fairly one-sided series competitive.

England should drop Moeen. He is ridiculously mediocre, not good enough to bowl or finish off games in the latter overs.
Roy
Bairstow
Root
Morgan(c)
Stokes
Buttler(wkt)
Billings
Woakes
Rashid
Wood
Archer
For second spin option, continue with Root only.

England is the most overrated cricket side of one time, and only won the world cup in extremely dubious conditions.
Stokes is the only player in the English team who would have made the Australian ODI sides of the 2000s

Yeah they are not comparable to Australia of 2000s. However, they are brilliant in this era and have dominated Australia home and away since the 2015 World Cup.

Australia are a second rate limited overs team as evidence by the fact that Finch is captain and the likes of Stoinis are getting matches.

That’s a bit ungracious. England have been beating everybody home and away for a few years now.
In a current world XI, I expect eight names from Big Three.
England- Archer, Stokes, Buttler
Aus- Warner, Starc
Ind- Rohit, Kohli, Bumrah
Australia will do good if one of Smith or Labu becomes a more consistent 50 averaging ODI batsmen.
Really ? Just eight ? The whole ODI world XI now is just a big 3 combined XI.
David Warner
Rohit Sharma
Virat Kohli
Steve Smith
Eoin Morgan (C)
Ben Stokes
Jos Buttler (WK)
Mitchell Starc
Joffra Archer
Jasprit Bumrah
Kuldeep Yadav/ Adil Rashid
Steve Smith will not be featuring in any ODI XI in the world, it has to be Babar or Kane or Root for that slot, probably Babar.
Spinner slot is also not clear, Rashid khan probably has an edge over Kuldeep or Rashid or Chahal.
Steve Smith is arguably the most clutch ODI player active right now. Averages close to 50 since 2015 WC. Averages 102 in world cup knockouts. Kane Williamson may be a close call but Babar and Root ? Nowhere near.
And Rashid khan has zero performances against top teams. So there you go.

Since the 2015 world cup:
Root 57.23 @ 90.63
Babar 54.17 @ 87.08
Taylor 64.90 @ 86.69
Williamson 49.81 @ 81.30
Du Plessis 60.84 @ 92.00
Smith 43.55 @ 85.14
He's not even in the discussion.
