What's new

Australia [377 & 87/3] defeat Bangladesh [305 & 157] by 7 wickets to win 2nd Test, series drawn 1-1

Idk, this always seems to happen with Bangladeshi fans. The moment things look bad, they disappear. If Bangladesh fight back, they come back and talk smack.

Stick with your team even when they're down. That's what being a fan is all about.

Don't think that's true, they supported a team which used to use pretty much every match for 20 years. Now it's good that Bangladesh actually win games now.

Most fans won't have that idea of supporting a team which loses mostly. For example younger Indian fans won't know that feeling, having a team which has been strong for the last 15 so years, same with SA and Aus.

If Indian Pak NZ SA Aus fans saw their teams struggle half as much as we did they would stop caring overall.

And these kids have the nerve to come to us fans and say "Bangladesh fans don't know how to support the team when they are struggling"

Huh, India has always been a fortress at home for close to 50 years now, the only point which might hold merit is that India didn;t win away for a good 2 decades before Ganguly. Bangladesh in that respect was more akin to India of the 50's nothing more.

True, Pakistan losses a few matches and we get multiple threads about people quitting Pakistan cricket. Some BD supporters go way over the top but they are loyal fans who stuck by their team even when they lost most of their matches.

I just took the last 15/20 years as an example of a team being strong. Most consider India a stronger team in the last 15/20 years than before that. If you want to go back to compare to the strength of Bangladesh when they were bad you'd have to go all the way back to when teams first started which is more than 50 years ago.

Not really sure how you're disagreeing with me lol, I'm saying that Indian fans won't know the feeling of their team mostly losing. If anything you're agreeing with me.

Of course I am but the post you quoted alleged that Bangla fans were more fickle than loyal, I wouldn;t say that they are or they aren;t but that's what it looked like. Aman was probably taking a jibe at them, perhaps wrongly.

No they wouldn't there's a lot of passion in Pakistan for cricket and it has never died down regardless, even being deprived of international cricket at home hasn't changed that. The fans support their team through thick and thin irrespective of defeats.

There is only one obnoxious fair weather fans which are just as you describe:

So as I predicted before the test match,Lyon is the chief destroyer of us.We need to find out how we can play quality spinners on spinning track.

As Tamim said these types of spinning track is only made for tests, but our domestic batsmen don't get these type of pitches.

BCB should take notice of this serious issue.

Another 48 to get for AUS, it looks to be all over now; good effort drawing the series level though . Anyhow I'd have liked a decider, not sure why it has to be a 2 match Test series in BD although the limited games probably are more lucrative for the board but it's better for BD in the long run if they're playing more Tests.

So leaving the ground during a Test for a quick bite is the same as Indians giving up on their team mid way during an ODI chase when Pakistan is mauling them in a final ? :yk :broad

Scorecard?

Bangladeshi's have vanished :)) come back guys be good sports

This is the same side Pakistan and India manhandled at home. Hence why noone takes Bangladesh seriously. They may still probably win the series but keep your feet grounded. They have a lot to prove.

Great series. Wish there was a decider. Bangladesh showed great fight in the match but Australia deserved the win.

LOL.

We are always by the side of our team.We just avoid the banter here in PP after any BD loss. Some posters crawl out of holes after a BD loss who just become vanished after a BD win.

Congrats to the Aussies for a great fight back in 5 days & great series for Lyon. There should be at least 3 Test in a series.

Well done Warner, Lyon was probably expected.

I was just saying the same thing earlier , they always have 2 Tests; why is that so ? financials or is it just a part of what the bilateral agreement constitutes between the two sides

It is not defeat that demoralizes you, but being demoralized by defeat :imran Bangla Tiger will raw louder once again

Yes, it's a joke that Sri Lanka are still getting 3 Tests and 5 ODIs against top sides but Bangladesh are still playing 2 Tests and 3 ODIs despite being far more competitive right now.

Bring back Mohammad Ashraful !

I think am his only fan

SL Destroy this aus in their home in test series not too long ago what have bd done in test to claim you deserves

more test than SL

Do you want me to post your favorite excuse "current ranking" of teams in test where BD is 16 point behind

SL?

BD cricket has a sharp raise in last couple of years while opposite for SRL in probably shorter time. All these series were planned long, long back - probably before 2015 & this AUS series was scheduled probably in 2012, therefore 2 Tests were fair enough then. Also, last 4 Tests in BD has ended in direct results & fans were at ground, which is a great sign. I'm sure if there was a decider against Poms or this time, regardless of who wins, stadium would have been full. Initially, PAK was supposed to play 3 Tests this time, which was cancelled (which was good in a sense that this monsoon broke every record of downpour); going forward, I am sure, we'll see 3 Test series, and even 4 Tests if the touring sides are willing.

Dissappointing match. Our batsman needed to perform much better than this but they didn't. However we should be pleased with the draw. Lots of areas to improve.

They must have been giving out free biryanis the way the crowd was leaving! :inzi

Drawing at home to England and Australia, giving NZ a fight in their backyard and drawing away to Sri Lanka are signs of decent progress for Bangladesh's Test side.

With a third Test, BD could've won these series against England, Australia and Sri Lanka.

With Mosaddek to come back in, the batting will be strengthened. Will be a tough challenge for them in their next Test assignment which is away to South Africa.

We thrashed a gun England side off the back of their 2-1 Ashes win in 2005 in that match and series without losing a single game.

1-1, one match dominated by each team.

Hopefully Australia can start showing Bangladesh the respect they deserve with 3 match series from now on- I think all viewers would be interested in a final test and god knows Oz need the practice of competitive matches in these conditions.

Was good to see Warner find a way to make runs, Pat Cummins has a big heart & GOAT Lyon get some rewards for good bowling.

Really would have loved to see each side under pressure in a 3rd test- honestly would have been a fascinating test for two young sides full of weaknesses but trying to improve to be put in that pressure scenario.

Those two batsmen, who got out by getting Stumped, should never play for BD again !!!!!!!!!!

oh well good effort by bangladesh 1-1 is a great result for the minnows.

All things considered BD can no longer be called minnow at home. So, that's some progress.

First Inning
Sabbir Rehman - st Wade b Lyon

Second Inning
Sabbir Rehman - st Wade b Lyon

Apart from Tamim, Shakib & Mushfiqur, none of the Bangladeshi players are worth playing Test.

Bangladesh did dominate Australia though.

I think it was a balanced tour. Bangladesh did not dominated Aussies. If anything, Australia did quite well and were ahead in both the test matches. They came within 20 runs of winning the first test. Compared to that Australia's win in second test was much bigger one. But overall considering the Australia's stature, it was a more even contest. Bangladesh deserves three test series at home against all opponents.

Bangladesh also can afford to host three test match series. They have passionate fan following and a booming economy. They should insist for longer tours..

Until they stop these 2nd innings collapses they will still not grow as a test team. They depend on bowling the opposition out cheaply twice to win a Test match. It rarely happens with their bowling attack.
