Surely it's not so difficult to standardise it for all major series?

I mean at least for the Ashes...

This series has been so one sided it’s not even funny....

Hopefully the ODI series can be more competitive.

Overrated and over hyped.

Absolute garbage, I can't people actually enjoy watching it.

I laugh at dolts who claim test cricket is more entertaining than LOI. At least in LOI if the match is boring it ends in a single day

Test cricket made for people that enjoy cricket and a beer, you can drink more during a Test than any other form:).

Seriously its now 2/15 because of good bowling and tactics, I love test cricket!!!:)

Lyon is again and again turning out to be the difference maker.

England will keep struggling in Australia as long as they keep playing part time spinners.

You seem very desperate to tell everyone how boring this match is.

Question is how do you know if you have not been watching it?.

LOL Rooooot still averages close to 53. I thought his average would have slipped down to 50.

I bet the whole English team cheering for there favourite root, lets hope does well with the bat and satisfies the whole English team and leaves them with a happy ending and a smile on there faces:)

Been a bit of a dud Root this series and currently quite a desperate Root.

England end Day 4 of the final Ashes Test in Sydney on 93/4 with Joe Root (42*) and Jonny Bairstow (17*), needing an epic fightback to avert defeat tomorrow; Nathan Lyon has taken 2/31 so far; England trail by 210 runs #Ashes #AusvEng #Cricket

Will be a hot and good to watch final day. Hope it ends close, if not i reckon the team and the whole of England will give it to their favourite root.

Moeen Ali has been sensationally awful this series. Poor with the bat, abysmal with the ball. I understand off spinners do not do well in Australia but Moeen has been a new level of crap this series.

England is an awful test team, they lost two matches against Pakistan, 1 against Wi at home. It can't get worse than that :)).

Just too many passengers in the team

Poor old Rooty. Hope he gets better soon. I expect he is out of the test.

Every single player has been rubbish but Mo has been surprisingly poor for his standards. England will continue to keep him in the side for next summer as they have no other spinner of value.

Moen ali has not only rubbish but completely useless with bat and ball . Absolutely no runs or wickets. Other players have atleast contributed in some way but ali has dobe nothing, literally nothing

"Joe Root was feeling exhausted at the lunch break and is resting up in the dressing room. He is feeling unwell and some of the symptoms have returned. At this stage, it is unclear if he will return to bat." - Update about Joe Root

Seems like just matter of time before Australia wrap it up. A thrashing 4-0 win in the Ashes.

Joe Root just does not look captaincy material at all. England would be best advised to relieve him and to just let him focus on his own game and to give the captaincy to someone who looks more natural in the role.

Well, England did better than I predicted at the start of the series. This debacle was sealed as soon as England picked the wrong side and Stokes got arrested.

Well done Root for coming out today. Brave soldier.

Among the batters, Cook can continue his test career but I think he has to drop down the order. Stoneman is half a class below test level. Vince looks test class but appears to lack the mental game. Root has had an ok series. Malan has done well. Bairstow should be up the order and not keeping - Foakes has to come in. Poor Moeen has sunk, he must be burning up with shame.

Among the bowlers, the result was predictable overall. Wood and Plunkett should have been in the side. Anderson has had a good series. Broad really disappointed me after his success on the last tour.

I would take forward Jimmy as the Test captain until he retires and then hand back over to Root when he has had a couple more years to reflect and learn. It is clearly too much for Root to lead the side and be expected to score big tons in every single international match, particularly on tour. He is too young and does not deserve to be ruined so quickly. Jimmy in contrast has matured immensely as a cricketer, is massively experienced, has no workload outside of Test cricket, and would easily be able to accumulate captaincy and media duties into his portfolio.

English cricket team should have NO problems at all going forward with fans as charitable as above.

Roots has not really shown any leadership chops quite like his opposite number. Smith had that leadership spark even before captaincy was bestowed upon him - I recall that shambolic Aussie tour to India where homework-gate made headlines. Smith was the only shining light.

However, asking Jandy boy to take charge of the helm would be a hysterically bad call. My observation from a distance tells me that Jandy is a bit of a self-centered person who thrives best in cliques. He is also not the type who could lead by example - and by example I mean personal effort. His well known record of going into hiding in unhelpful conditions would not make his troops rally around him.

Eh? Anderson will bowl all day no matter what the conditions. He might not get any wickets but he is the hardest working England bowler I can remember.

I feel he is a negative communicator and too grumpy to get the best out of other people, though.

England should maybe stop touring away from home.. they have been a shambles away from home in last 5 years

Very few sides win away from home these days.

Host nations should bring back proper warmup schedules. In 1985 the Aussies got four proper matches in England prior to the three ODIs and six tests. Such preparation would help touring sides acclimatise. This time England got almost nothing, just two short warm-up matches against youth sides and then into the first test.

A tame end to a insipid series.

Flat pitches, flat bowling from England and not a single close contest.

Take a cue from Newlands.

I agree, teams should have better tours and more warm up games. Also against strong opposition but doesnt happen as Hosts are always wanting as much advantage as possible.
