What line-up should Pakistan go with? Presumably due to this being a practice game, there will be some allowances to let more than XI play etc but what are Pakistan looking to get out of this game?

In these types of matches you can choose any 11 batsmen from the squad and bowl whoever. So all the batsmen should be tryed (if possible) and the young bowlers should be given a good chance, and don't give Imran Khan Sr too many overs.

Australia A match to be shown on Fox Cricket and Kayo Sports

Cricket fans have received a bonus with confirmation Australia A’s tour match against Pakistan will be available as a free live stream on the CA Live app and cricket.com.au and simulcast on Fox Cricket and Kayo Sports.

The three-day, pink-ball fixture will be played at Perth Stadium from Monday, November 11th. Each day’s play will begin at 4pm AEDT (1pm AWST).

“We’re delighted to be able to bring such a high-quality game to the widest possible audience,” said Patrick Horan, CA’s Head of Digital. “This will be a must-watch for cricket fans ahead of the first Domain Tests of the summer in Brisbane and Adelaide.”

The match has been dubbed by some pundits as the “sixth Test” of the summer due to the strength of the respective line-ups.

A strong Australia A side will be captained by Alex Carey and features six players with Test experience including vice-captains Travis Head and Usman Khawaja.

The match will also give many fans their first look at Pakistan’s 16-year-old fast bowler Naseem Shah, who will form part of a young and potent attack alongside 19-year-olds Musa Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

It's a warmup, so pretty sure all the batsmen will bat, and all the bowlers will bowl. I think the most important thing is to get the key batsmen time in the middle, i.e. Babar, Haris, Asad, and Shan should get maximum time since they are most likely to succeed in Australia and need gametime under their belt.

On the bowling side of things the fast bowlers, mainly Shaheen, Naseem, and Abbas, need to be given a chance to find the correct lengths for Australia, while spinners need to be given time to find their accuracy for this tour.

Not happening
Asad will bat at 4 with Azhar at 3

I have strange feeling that Iftikhar will lose out in the final Test XI.

Azhar and shan should open and make a way for Iftikhar in the lineup.
Azhar
Shan
Babar
Haris
Asad
Iftikhar
Rizwan

iftikhar is not good enough for tests...i think he exceeded expectations in 20 20 as no batter did anything else..

Iftikhar concentration levels are good enough for longer versions and his technique is good enough for Aus wickets. Should play at any cost.

Some practice games are first class games and they don’t allow more than 11 players to participate from each team , this used to be the norm until recent past . The “ sixth test “ of the Australian summer starting tomorrow against Australia A I thank will be a FC game .

1. Azhar Ali (c)

11. Yasir Shah

I like that squad - hope they give Bhatti, Naseem Shah a shot in the practice game rather going with Imran Khan.

Also, there is no way they will leave Shafiq on the bench, he'll either play over Haris or Ifthikar, or they'll go with 4 bowlers to add the extra batsmen

Shan, Babar, Iftikhar and Asad can all play the short ball well. Abid looks decent against the short ball in Asia, obviously that says nothing about his ability in Australia.

1). Azhar
2). Abid
3). Shan
4). Babar
5). Haris (keep him away from the newish ball)
6). Iftikhar
7). Rizwan
8). Naseem
9). Musa
10). Shaheen
11). Abbas

Even though Asad can play the short one, he doesn't really merit selection ahead of Iftikhar. Iftikhar also brings in his spin bowlingm which I think is good enough to play the sole spinners role, we also have Haris for a few spin overs.

Hopefully our bowlers can find the correct lengths to bowl. Far too many times have our bowlers bowled far too short which are easy pickings.

Goodness me, I hope so. We know nothing about his aptitude against a slip cordon.

I'm really just praying that the bowling line-up includes Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Mohammad Abbas. Losing any one of those three would be catastrophic.

They'll be playing Abbas and Imran as fast bowlers in the first test at least.

Asad made a 137 at the Gabba last time round. It will be his second tour too so arguably he'll have more experience with the Australian red ball conditions. But I really really want Ifti there too. His first-class record suggests good things. But this will be his first time against Australia in Australia and that too at the Gabba.

I guess you could keep Abid out and move everyone else up one place to accomodate for Asad, in which case the line up would be:

1. Azhar
2. Shan
3. Haris
4. Babar
5. Asad
6. Iftikhar
7. Rizwan
8. Naseem
9. Musa
10. Shaheen

Makes sense. I'd pick Ifti just based on current form and confidence. Maybe he has a little bit of Ben Stokes in there somewhere lol.

Why are people posting XI's? I thought this is one of those games where 11 bat and anyone can bowl?

Abid Ali
Shan
Azhar
Babar
Harris
Asad
Rizwan
Yasir
Naseem
Abbas
Shaheen

Harris Sohail and Shan Masood should share a load of about 12-13 overs combined.

No way you can drop Asad. Sure, he's had a lean patch, but he's one of the only players in the team who can play the short ball, has battled it out in tough conditions before and almost won us the Brisbane Test last time with his 137.

Brings more value to the side than Azhar.

Shan/Abid
Azhar
Haris
Babar
Shafiq
Iftikhar
Rizwan
Kashif
Naseem
Shaheen
Abbas

I hope this is the XI we go for in the 1st test.

PAK should start with it's Test XI here (& bat first - by winning toss or by mutual understanding). This is probably going to PAK's Test XI at Gabba

Imam
Shan
*Azhar
Haris
Babar
Asad
Rizwan+
Yasir
Shaheen
Imran
Abbas

........... let's start singing - "Allah, megh de, pani de ...."

I really hope they don't start with Imam and Imran. Iftikhar and Naseem have to play.

They'll do exactly that, unless Misbah is a reborn guy. His selection policy will be exactly like his captaincy - don't change even a losing combination, unless you are forced to. And, guy loves to be surrounded by soft players - players that won't challenge status co. Azhar is the perfect Captain and unless he changes attitude, Babar might not get ODI Captaincy either - PCB (Misbah) will make someone captain who is in the squad as captain first, means a "zee hazur..." type.

Keep your expectations in control - ride will be quite rough until Misbah is sacked (may be in a year, after T20 WC). PCB should start to plan hiring an Aussie from now, so that they are not caught in this situation where only applicant is Mohsin Hasan Khan........

How was Misbah such a successful test captain especially during our time of crisis if he doesn't like to change losing combinations? We need him to rebuild the test team after the long term damage Arthur did to it.

Misbah's team was successful in a particular brand of cricket and he was lucky to play so many games there. Even, in later part of career, his WIN success was built on almost UAE like wickets.

BUT, one factor you guys always miss is that isolation helped PAK also - first, the home Tests were shifted to UAE, which ensured result in almost every game and PAK being the better equipped team, won majority. Had those Tests been played in PAK, I can assure you 80% would have been drawn - PAK has the worst curator in cricket world including some associates and these guys have absolutely no clue regarding their own strength.

Second factor is the UAE season and short series (2, max 3 Tests) - OCT to FEB, which is the busiest season in cricket calendar, hence teams used to travel to UAE, play a joke of a practice game and then put in to a Test match on a mud bed - often what happened is that before acclimatized, teams were 1/2 Test down. If you analyze Misbah's series, most cases his team won the first or first 2 Tests and then the tourists came back to win at the end - SAF did that, WIN, NZ did that, SRL won a Test there as well. Make those series 3/4 Tests affair with proper preparation, Misbah's team won't have been so dominant. On top of that, his toss luck was legendary in UAE .... Only team (s) that he dominated were ENG & AUS - both spin bunnies. Through-out his entire career, his best achievement for me was 2-2 in UK, for which Arthur should also get credit.

Misbah as a team director was my choice as well, provided that they had a proper coach installed for skill development; Misbah as C Selector also may be as the guy can bring professionalism in selection process; but Misbah as a technical coach, and selector is the worst possible combination - guy isn't qualified enough, experienced enough and bold enough.

Arthur deserved sacking (not saying Misbah is an ideal replacement), but individually he helped developing players - Babar, Imam, Haris, Sharjeel, Shan. It's sad that PCB didn't try Amin in that period, otherwise he could have been as good (Amin's overall career stats in domestics doesn't tell what he has done in last 3-4 years, you can check). Problem with Arthur was that, he loved his job more than his task - so he learned to survive in a compromised life - became soft and started to delight media (& PAK fans) with his hyperbola. He stopped interfering with Ul Haq's selection, he stopped controlling Sarfraz's lousy mouth (and waste line), he kept parsing the talent, zazba, zunun .... of a loser bunch worst that the 1960s.

Had Arthur stood firm like his first year, he won't have survived long, may be till SRL series (0-2 wala, not 0-3 wala) max, but had he survived till WC - PAK most likely would have made the SFs. He is technically, a very good coach and I'll welcome as Director of BCB's academy, but not as a Head Coach of BD National team.
