What's new

Australia beat New Zealand by 4 wickets in 2nd ODI

australia is just a class apart when they put their minds to it

Australia's winner mentality is just outstanding. Even when you think they are out of the game they somehow come back and win the game. Quality team despite missing some key players.

What is this series that is being played out between PNG and Ireland? Any tourney or just a bilateral? And where is it played?

We just played them in the IC Cup so we're playing them in 3 t20 internationals to give our bench strength a shot and basically get us into gear for the world t20. Its being played in Townsville IIRC.

We head out to the UAE after for 3 games, one vs a club side and two vs the UAE before heading home for a week and then embarking to India for the competition.

In PSL, batsmen miss out on a lot of scoring shots to be honest.

There is low quality batsmanship there.

Yesterday night, I noted at least 10-15 deliveries in an innings that international batsmen would cut for 4 or take doubles but all of them ended up as dots.

So a team is dependent on foreign players to score and if they struggle, then it becomes problematic.

However pitches have been on tougher side in PSL.

Hard to time the ball. KP , Gayle, Bravo and even Cooper are internationals, not to mention the Pakistani batsmen playing. The pitches are the major factor.

Aussies werent going to bad badly for 2 games in a row and just shows batting depth when someone like hastings can come in down the order and do a job for his team. These two sides are probably best ODI sides in world cricket at moment.

I'll throw England in the mix too and India isn't bad as well. The top 5 including South Africa are all really close.

Gayle always struggles against spin on turners.

Bravo hasn't been himself even in IPL recently (batting wise) but he will get better.

Cooper - dunno. Long time since I last say him.

KP is a surprise but then he does it and then one game he will come out all guns blazing.

Yes...the pitches are harder for foreigners to adjust but I don't think they are missing obvious scoring shots.

Watson though was rubbish yesterday (and Asghfar bowled really well to him).

Its a combo of multiple factors.

For example Tamim was scratchy as hell but in the end had no problems smashing the ball.

Shakib went on a rampage.

Luke Wright too.

Its not easy to slog here but better application is needed.

Hopefully we see more runs.

Lol the top 5 doesn't mean much when there are only 8 teams :misbah

Let me rephrase what I said again for higher clarity.

The top 5 are all equally good and it is difficult to pick a definite number 1 and 2 for now.

Since the rankings have historic weightage, they are not always the accurate depiction of a current situation.

Is that clearer now?

Also there are more than 8 countries that play Int'l ODI cricket.

Do we really care about teams below 8 ? :misbah but I agree there is no clear no. 1 at the moment

I do especially about the Windies.

And with Afghanistan becoming stronger - it would be nice to see how the game spreads.

Shakib and Wright are the only 1s so far. Tamim was awful, run a ball fifty in a T20

Exactly. Tamim was garbage but he was able to score later on.

Anyways, let's see how things pan out.

I personally like low scoring T20s too if easy shots are not missed.

I had to look at the title of the topic to see which topic I was in. PSL or Australia v NZ.

Townsville will host test cricket in the near future.

I wonder if they'll get a Mitchell Johnson stand
