What's new

Australia beat New Zealand in 1st Test by 208 runs

Is Milne in the squad? Get him in if he is. Lasts two games anyway, might as well play him before he gets injured again.
Can't see him lasting the day.

If there weren't question marks around his fitness, he'd be in the squad.

Hopefully NZC realize from this series our attack is one dimensional and begin to put a greater importance on developing fast bowlers for the future.

2-3 over spells. Possible on the WACA, won't have to bend his back much.

Wonder if McCullum would throw him in after seeing the incompetency of his trundlers.

Too late to call him up.

I would be inclined to do it seeing how rubbish our bowling attack has been, but to give you an indication of where Milne is right now, they've called Wagner into the squad.

You can't expect to get on Aussie wickets by bowling military medium. Boult's average speed was 133K.

Another wicket thrown away.. by my count that's 5 now.

No sour grapes, but other than the delivery to Guptill were any of those deliveries really wicket taking deliveries?

Neesham made a ball onto the pads look like a freaking yorker, he either didn't see it or is terrible against pace.

Taylors could be put down to nerves and a poor technique.

Batting like Aus, throwing their wickets away. Even though Aus were going for the fast runs and just gave their wickets away.

Pretty much, difference is our batsmen are batting against taller bowlers who are 10ks quicker.

Our bowlers are a lot easier to play on Aussie wickets, where there's very little movement so you can bash them around without too much to worry about.

I was not sure before, but now I 'll definitely pick Will over Root, VK, or Smith

One of the best ever hundreds I have seen in recent days.

Impressive to do it first up at the Gabba too.

Yes, the wicket is flat but it still has bounce for the quick bowlers to use.

Very nice knock from kane but jeez that was shocking session of bowling, 2 wickets actually flattered us.

That voges drop might just take another hour or so out of the match as well and with the weather around could cost us dearly.

Great knock from the young man, the senior middle order really let him down though, pitch is pretty decent and the bowling was for the most part ordinary so barely over 300 is unacceptable in these circumstances.

Strange though the way so many on this forum seem to think, smith makes multiple tons in england but they are downplayed because they weren't on greentops, kane makes a ton also on a batting deck at the gabba but unlike smith his innings receives lofty praise.

I just don't get it why are tons vs australia on batting tracks worth more than when an aussie makes a ton themselves on a batting track?

Williamson is class. My favorite young cricketer currently. Love his attitude and I THINK HE HAS GOT THE BEST TECHNIQUE among Root/Kohli/Smith for every condition and against any suit of bowlers.

Australian hundreds are only made on flat decks, no Aus batsman has made a hundred on a good bowling wicket. If they do it was because of bad bowling, and Aus bowlers don't take wickets they are gifted wickets. Didn't you know?.

Smith is ahead of KW right now because he has outscored him, simple.

Yes, we all know the wicket was flat but you still have to appreciate how well he batted with his mates at the other end offering him little to no support.

Warner is ahead of KW too wouldent you say.

Worried about Boults workload, he's only just come back from injury and is clearly still not match fit.

trogger & Gilly

Wrong target, why are you making it sound like I had something against an Aussie? I said, out of 4 (Smith, VK, Root) - why you are trying to make it Smith vs Will; as if Smith was undisputed No. 1? Making a hundred in AUS against AUS is indeed praiseworthy than making a hundred against IND in AUS.

But, I don't put comments from my ass - "Will can teach Smith few tricks about batting against spinners & batting on turners" & this is not from StatGuru - this is from watching hours of batting of both.

Bother to respond this please.

I don't understand what teams have in mind coming with trundlers to Australia.

Two 140k+ accurate pacers at the very least are necessary to be successful here.

Milne should've been the first name on the squad even if he lasts a game and whoever the next fastest guy is.

Trent Boult failed outside New Zealand in the World Cup. So did BMac. New Zealand is filled with trudlers.
Only good players they have are Taylor and Southee

And who is this Neesham. The biggest joke of the decade. Why is he even Aman hussain.r97

Anderson's action is pretty odd. Seems like it's hard to get consistency with it

Trunder bouncing a set Queenslander at the Gabba.

What does he expect to happen?

Nice to score your debut century at your first home test

Guessing Burns is just a makeshift opener until Bancroft is ready? He'll move down when Voges retires.

I can't see him remaining at the top order.

Will seriously struggle against lateral movement.

Apparently the first time ever that Australia has had twin century opening stands in the same test

He hasn't done too badly in Test cricket so far, but this is the toughest series this whole team has ever played. He's nothing special, but a handy player.

lol warner tries switch hitting the spinner in a test match! thats how bad nz bowling has been

Craig actually bowled a decent delivery.

Just followed it up with two half trackers

How do people here think that NZ will still manage to take the moral victory after this?

You can write 0-3 now, Southee probably out for the series and Boult likely to break down in the second Test bowling 40-50 overs.

He's not 100%.

Hopefully KW can walk away with a number of tons, will help to ease the pain it's unlikely he'll get the chance to play in Aus again after this pathetic team performance.

Well, I've just left after three days at the cricket.

It's really highlighted for me that the Top Six Test teams are very close together now, and hard to beat in home conditions on short tours - except when Australia and SA visit one another in home-like conditions.

I can see why NZ outperformed Australia away to England and Pakistan, but that counts for nothing here.

I've been writing for weeks that they needed Milne fit and present for the Gabba and the WACA, not Christchurch and Wellington in the fourth and fifth Tests.

Has Shane Bond already left? I can't believe that he would support Boult bowling in the low 130s.

These modern grassless Aussie tracks are really horrible. The game now is all about giant gangling bowlers enforcing scoreboard pressure after their team scores 500.

Third man to score two centuries in a match three times

Plenty for the bowlers in the Adelaide shield game
