What's new

Australia beat Pakistan by 41 runs in 17th match of 2019 World Cup

Karma. Took the single to remain not out, look who’s out at the end!

Sarfraz is one the dumbest batsman around. He allow the no. 11 to take the strike for full over. This fatty guy don't have any trust in his stroke making ability.

Throughout the run chase it was just a matter of "when" Pakistan was going to mess it up and never "if". Now that they have, they have one step on an early plane home.

Hafeez as well - the way he got out today, to that ball at that time, only tells that the guy doesn't have any guts, can't handle pressure. He did well against Poms after being dropped, but key was batting first - today was opposite.

Any club level player would have hit that for 6. Gutted lost a game which we should have won comfortably. Babar with a pathetic shot when he had done all the hard work.

No team can win when we have a slogger as a opener, along with a softie in no. 3, pretend middle order batmen like Malik and Asif with big mouth non-performing captain.

Honestly speaking, PAK had enough chances to win today, despite fielding like club team. Amir's outstanding effort in such condition went begging because of his batsmen .... and FGS, Sarfraz, please retire.

I'm traveling all the way from USA to watch the Pak/SA and Pak/NZ matches, please don't let these be dead rubbers with Pakistan already eliminated

Tells you everything about Sarfraz's abilities that as soon as Wahab got out, the match was practically over. The ending is just the icing on the cake.

People calling out sarfraz. Atleast he had the guts to stick around. Match was lost by those 4 quick wickets. Asif Ali is a hack and had negative contribution so far through his pathetic fielding. Same with malik. Cant play fast bowlers.

Think this sums it up.

a match of lots of ' what ifs' for Pakistan...what if batted first, what if Finch was not dropped, what if Babar played a few more overs, what if Hafeez got a few more runs....in the end ....

None the less there are only two contenders for WC, Eng and India. Australia are just hyped up, any other team today would have beaten them.

I wonder if there will now be a conspiracy thread to question Pakistan's tame surrender?

Anyways, the India-Pakistan match now just lost its shine. Pakistan are out of the world cup with two losses, and one draw. I was hoping that the India-Pakistan game would be the one where Pakistan is knocked out. Now a defeat in that game will simply be rubbing insult to injury. Which is not fun at all.

Respect wahab raises his game against Aussies bat or ball. You would rather have two wahabs over one malik and a wahab

Because he wont have to justify his inability to score run a ball against fast bowlers. He cant hit fast bowlers.

Had he tried and we had lost everybody would have appreciated it.
But taking a single so that you dont have to face the next over and than taking a half hearted single when the 11th batsmen gives you the chance to occupy the crease once more. These are obviously showing his mentality here.
I have no idea how he is captaining the team seriously.

Pakistan will make it directly to the semis if they win their remaining games. So yea. Last chance for Pakistan here.

Pakistani cricket fans are pretty stupid and not intelligent. They don't see past emotional black mails or the stupid street level games played by our hacks in the team. Asif ali playing his daughter card. And Sarfraz acting as if he wanted to do greater good, while deep down he did it to avoid the responsibility of scoring shots. He is full of negativity at this point. Threw the team under the bus, for sake of responsibility, for which he is ultimately responsible. I hope Shoaib Akhtar blasts him to bits.

It wasn’t that bad tbh. We fought well till the end. Still gutted that we didn’t win in the end.

Tomorrow's India vs New Zealand match will be a washout. India will be under pressure too. One over from Amir can change the game.

Why is hasan ali still being selected replace with husnian good bye sarfaraz .. imam pathetic strike rate still automatic selection ... hate this current pak team bunch of selfish losers ... play politics as always ...

This power-hitting is the most overrated thing in ODI cricket.
U need batsmen who rotate strike well, play well under pressure against both spin and pace, and capable of hitting boundaries.

Exactly. Now a days players need patience.
It's not required to hit in middle overs.
Overs from 25 to 30, match changed the hands.
Good batting from tailes.

Sunday match will be interesting.

I doubt that Asif Ali is playing the daughter card. Not his fault that his daughter died just before the WC. Having said that, he was awful today alongside Shaheen, Hassan Ali and Malik.

You know which team will lose in a chase because there always lots of soft dismissals and they always lose wickets at the wrong time. At no point did I feel they were going to chase it down.

Bengalis and Indians are the biggest online trolls you’ll ever see. Quite the opposite in real life though. Just ignore them.

Indians can be. They have a right to laugh.

Bengalis? What have I missed? Won nothing last time I checked.

Because Hasnain is awful at this stage of his career and Hasan is only bad. Sarfraz and Imam played ok, but soft dismissals cost them. But they are not a good team and haven't been for nearly 2 decades bar the odd tournament/ match.

Respect for Pakistan. Many times it seemed they were completely out of the game but they kept coming back.

I think Amir deserved the MoM award.

India-Pakistan game will be hard fought, I don't think I want the stress of watching it live :)

The side needs a revamp and the first step is removing Sarfaraz and i guess the majority accepts that.
As for Asif he was extremely poor but cant really say he is taking benefit from the fact that his daughter died. These sort of things can be truly very mentally taxing and something the management should think of.

Gotta give Pakistan marks for spirit. I would bet India would've folded to 190 if they were 160/6.

Its the greatest irony of Pakistani cricket that even with virtually no expectation this team finds a way to disappoint.

Younis Khan had an issue with his father. But did we see him complaining? Or taking advantage off? Asif Ali plays that card to get by in the squad.

Our middle order is a bit more solid compared to India’s. Their starting 3 is stronger and their bowling looks better as well.

There are reports of Shikhar missing the game.

Our batsman need to take brain development classes asap. They cant mold himself according to the situation. Hassan hit two back to back boundaries and goes for another one and got caught. Totally brainless. Shaheen took single on last ball of the over are u serious? Need to work on basics.

Asif never played the daughter card though?

In PSL he did. He failed consecutively and dean jones came out for him in his support. Recently, he was in and out of the team, but was selected and given advantage off for his lack of performance due to his family condition. Which is unfair to other players and the team.

Its pretty dire I'm afraid.
Bowling came good towards the end after a bad start.
You cant expect to drop 3 catches against top sides and still win.
Babar, Imam and Hafeez...brainless cricket.
Thank god for Hasan and Wahab.
Next game I'll bring in Haris, Imad and Shadab for Malik, Asif and Hasan/Afridi.
Very hard to get through now.

Asif has not once said anything about his daughter that would suggest he wants to earn sympathy and get into the squad. Its natural that people do give sympathy but not because he asked for it.
I havent even heard of even one interview or PC etc where he has mentioned his daughter's death and the hardships he is facing because of it.
Family issues dont become public but obviously deaths especially of blood relatives do and that's why we know about it.Not because Asif came in public and bawled over it.

The target was achievable only if top order had shown greater responsibility. Both Fakhar and Babar getting out to needless shots. Imam getting caught down leg side off a ball which would have been a wide. It should not have come to Hassan and Wahab to rescue us. Will need to bat much better in the remaining games

Everytime he fails, i see people saying: "oh, that's because he is still worried about his daughter". I can see that attitude in our selection committee as well, when they didn't saw his failures while doing selection. Dean Jones press conference about that after his consecutive failure is a clear evidence, in PSL. It's happening now in national team.

Yes people sympathise because its natural, not because he asked for it.
And it reflects poorly on the team management and not Asif in my opinion,if they are including a player in the team solely because he had a personal tragedy and its to make him feel better, they need to be more competent. Its not like Asif is pressuring them to do so.
