Australia close on 505/8 at the end of Day 2 in Karachi

Big ask for Pakistan to get themselves back in this game but a good first session could do it. Question is, what else can Pak bowlers do that they didn't in the 1st Day?

Will be interesting to see if the conditions get challenging for the Batsmen or it remain the same which would mean that the pitch is flat. Hoping for an eventful day of Test Cricket .
 
I always wonder, how do pakistan managed to produce so many good fast bowlers despite having these low standard and flat phatta tracks. Its a mystery or maybe the standard of batting in our FC is way below average
 
Hassan Ali is getting some movement but Shaheen looks flat. Needs to pick up his game.
 
This is what happens when you drop simple catches. Imam deserves to be spanked for dropping Lyon sitter. He is making us pay now.
 
Lyon is having a full go at Afridi. The short ball tactic is failing badly. He is all set to hurt Pakistan big
 
Slap on the face for this test XI consisting of professional and lethargic uncles on the field, and off the field.

The match is gone and it's only Day 2. 4 days of catch up to do to draw the game.

In hindsight, making this a flat pancake is the best use of home advantage for Pakistan.
 
Absolutely garbage pitch.

Ball is barely even carrying to the keeper eventhough its Day 2. Even the bouncers are sticking in the pitch instead of skidding. Talk about completely nullifying your home advantage through incompetence.
 
You have to be really stupid and desperate to challenge Aleem Dar. And as a result of this stupidity and desperation Pakistan have one review remaining.

It’s a joke of a pitch. Honestly, it’s painful to watch. PCB really destroyed this series for the fans.

The one against Lyon on Hassan Ali should've been out. Would've been given out 9/10 times. Pak was right to review and retained it too.

Aleem is not flawless
 
Pakistan is well and truly knocked out of this game. Make dead pitches and it hits you in the face. Totally deserve it.

Australia will score minimum 450 before declaring. Pakistan is not going to be handle it this time.
 
I'm sorry but this whole talk about pitch, for this game, is being blown out of proportion.

Pak bowlers have been absolutely garbage. We haven't strung 2 back to back overs of tight in the channel pace bowling. A lot of the blame goes to Babar who is looking absolutely clueless in terms of strategies.

This legside heavy field and short pitch bowling is so freaking predictable! That too to a night watchman? Leaking runs! Shaheen can't even get the line of the bouncers correct. He's been way too on the legside.

How about we see some consistent 4/5th stump channel bowling and force the batsmen to find runs.

And where did this Nauman Ali guy come from? Haven't seen a more harmless bowler

Ever watched a test in Karachi before? Pitch behaves much differently to the way it is behaving in this match. There is something for the fast-bowlers from Day 1. It is nowhere near as unhelpful as this where the ball is struggling to carry to the keeper.

Good points. Pakistan bowling has been garbage and also the tactics. The short bowling to Lyon was terrible. He took full advantage of it.

He's right 99% of the time. And that's more than any other umpire in the world. Plus the ones they have reviewed they weren't even sure to begin with. With decisions like that its better not to challenge a guy who barely gets it wrong.

It’s not 2011 anymore. Aleem Dar has been subpar for years and his decisions should be challenged like any other umpire’s.

Should have stuck to the pitches they made against Sri Lanka and South Africa. Instead they went for a cowardly approach. And now out of sheer incompetence, it has blown up in their face.

Hassan and Shaheen have the ability to take the pitch out of the equation. Why haven't they been effective with reverse swing? Why haven't we seen slower balls with a fielder right in front of the runner (can't recall the official fielding position term)? Where is the Innovative field setting?

Our bowlers haven't been given a plan to stick with. The bowling has been erratic and all over the place. Again, Babar has been really come up short in these games
 
Lyon approaching a 50 now. This is a new low.

Don't care what kind of pitch it is. Letting a nightwatchman score this many runs is just embarrassing.
 
We are missing yasir shah here, who is not only a wicket taker but maintain pressure on batsmen. Come on he has taken 250+ test wickets, he would have been better than toothless sajid and uncle nauman
 
Should give Fawad Alam the ball. A slow left arm bowler + his home ground. Worth a shot to try and get a breakthrough

Nauman be like:
1st ball outside off
2nd ball on legside
3rd ball again outside off
and keep on repeating again n again
 
This pitch is not as bad as PIndi one. You should also criticize defensive captaincy and poor team selection by Babar. I don't understand why Zahid is not playing. I heard a lot about Sajid a lot on this forum but sorry to say, he is nothing special.

Zahid would have been taken to the cleaners on this pitch. He barely has any control to speak of and on this pitch Khawaja and Smith would have been hitting him down the track with ease.

Also, this is a garbage pitch and nothing like a traditional NSK wicket. That is much more skiddy and offers alot of help to the fast-bowlers from Day 1.

Pakistan are so cowardly and incompetent that they tried to make pitches that would nullify Australia's pacers. But in that process they've nullified their own pacers too.

Thats bizarre , a bowler who has no control to speak of gets selected, why ?

There is Yasir Shah, Shadab Khan ahead of him. Also Usman Qadir who looks decent enough in LOIs , with all the options available they went ahead with Zahid to say he has no control over his bowling and Aus batsman will feast upon him..

This pitch has life in it and you will see with heat baking the pitch with more cracks and becomes tough to play on Day 4 and 5..

There are two factors here: Babar is a pathetic captain. There is no doubt Misbah would have extracted more from his team.

In addition, the spinners are horrible. They won't get into an associate team.

Yasir is past his prime but even now he is miles better than these two.
 
Fact is, The Indian and Sri Lankan bowling attacks would’ve picked up 10 wickets by now.

Our bowling attack in test cricket has been going downhill ever since Abbas lost his form.

What life lol? It may break up as the test progresses but thus far it has been a garbage wicket and nothing like a traditional NSK wicket. The ball is not skidding, bouncers are sticking in the middle of the pitch and the ball is barely carrying to the keeper
 
Normally Pakistan had at least one decent spinner in their XI. It's a torture to see these two bowl. Nightmare of sorts.

Thank you for admitting it. Sajid is no Ashwin and Nauman is no Herath. They were scared of Aus bowling so these dead tracks were prepared.
 
I think Australia are now going to up the ante, and try and squeeze close to 100 runs i the next session even if they lose 2-3 wickets. They would want to get close to 500 before letting Pakistan bat in the final 10 overs or so.

Both our openers will be back in the hut by tonight.
 
What happened to Australia being all out for 350 and people praising the negative bowling yesterday we just about got Lyon out in the first session.
 
Pitch aside Pakistan bowling is absolutely toothless and the spinners and they are Street level our domestic cricket should be disbanded or heck import some spinners from AFG :rashid
 
Pakistan thought Australia would just blindly roll over against reverse swing. The W's were successful with reverse swing at high pace because they could reverse the ball in both directions unlike our one dimensional pacers
 
Sajid gets Head. Green on strike here. Looks difficult for Pakistan to make a comeback into this match.
 
Australia should attack from here best chance to move the game forward quickly get past 450 and some quick runs after tea before bowling.

The only positive for Pakistan has been they have controlled the run rate apart from the flukey inning by Lyon of mishits ans edges to boundaries.
Pakistan missing Yasir big time. Not sure why Fawad never gets a chance.

Only difference is roward the end it will get interesting as 5 full days of cricket would be played, giving a good possibility of result. Last match due to lot of time wasted by weather condition we all knew only draw was on cards.
 
Shame on defensive approach of Australia. They are 350+ on the board, should be batting quick to set up a total and declare. Loserish attitude.
 
Green came out to defend should play aggressively get as many runs as quickly as possible no point defending then getting out.
 
Pakistan needs to bat until Tea Day 4

Try getting a sizeable lead and rip through on day 5 with spinners
 
Khawaja goes game should move on quickly with the lower order coming in finally some action.
