Pakistan trail by 2 runs in their second innings, finishing Day 2 of the First Test against South Africa at 88/3

Getting easier to bat on, let's see what day 3 brings

It is SA's game to loose. Until Babar, Saud does something extraordinary then its SA's game all over

The fitness of the Pakistani pace Bowlers leaves lot to be desired. They struggle badly in their late spells and it explains their inability to finish off the tail because the pacers run out of gas.

Never ending problem. Wasn't a single yorker bowled at Bosch.

To be fair, Bosch is an all-rounder. He has an FC average of 40+ along with 10 FC fifties.

With Shaheen not selected Jahandad could of played the Jansen role and offered more batting depth with both Abbas and Khurram No 11 s if the selectors thought outside the box.

So Pakistan are -2/3 at close of play, Shan Masood managed 47 runs in 2 innings.

Time for Babar to stand up after a long long time , otherwise a meek surrender awaits tomorrow

No idea why Bavuma didn't bring Jansen on earlier. The pitch was already starting to show signs of variable bounce towards the end of the South Africa innings. Pakistan could have easily been 50-4 right now.

He’s playing the in the exact manner in which he won’t get a ton here. One ball will have his name on it. Bosch and Markram showed the best way to play is keep positive

Babar looks determined to just survive no matter what.
Yeah, anything on the 3rd offstump line he couldn't play, looked as if he's one step away from a knick.

Only shots that went for a boundary were ones that were pitched wide. And all his singles were just basic dabs.

No drives, no proper attacking shots, no nothing. Felt as if he was struggling life and limb.

I think he ran every time he could against Jansen and Rabada. Even Shan was trying his best to shield him from them. He has no clue against Paterson either in this match

Tbh this is the ugliest Babar innings I've seen.

Today aside, I don't think he's been batting particularly poorly recently. Alot of the time you see him in his groove, hitting his shots and then he just gets out by playing the lamest shot. It's feels more like a loss of concentration rather than him struggling to score runs. He has to deliver in this innings though. He has not scored a century all year and this is his last chance to deliver a performance of substance in 2024.

Hopefully he can come out with a fresh mind tomorrow.

He won't survive tmr if he plays like this.

Tmr the bowlers will fresh, bowling faster with more accuracy and will want to wrap Pakistan up.

Shame on Pakistan since today besides the delivery that got saim ayub which was lethal, KG and Shan getting out wasn't anything noteworthy.

Don't get me wrong the deliveries weren't bad, but they could have easily been defended or left alone. They weren't deliveries where you get knicks on.

Shaan wafted when he shud have left..gulam i dnt have much hope and rest of batters same so match is over i am afraid. What changes can they make for 2nd test

You know that’s not how things work in Pakistan. Another failure won’t mean anything. It’ll be business as usual the following day
I don't think King has enough time.

He was already dropped once. This time he won't be able to get back in easily after getting dropped.

only way pak can hope for win is by counter attacking cricket. Historically favors counter attaacking players in SA. Defending your way out will be a recipe for disaster

Basically we need Jamal to get 75+.

I have no hope from the rest max they will contribute is 80. Our batting has been feeble in Tests ever since the 2016 NZ tour and it's never recovered.

All rounders lower order have thrived here especially if you are prepared to attack. Jason Holder last year made 81 in 117 balls. Azhar Mahmood 136 at Jo burg, 132 at Durban, Mitchell Johnson 123* at Cape town, James Franklyn 122 at Cape town, Mitchell JOhnson 96* Jo Burg, Hardik Pandya 93. Garme swann 85 at Supersports park.
