Australia close on 505/8 at the end of Day 2 in Karachi

I think it'll get harder and harder to bat as the match goes on. Australia are well placed here. Australia will exploit reverse swing much better than our bowlers have.

It has a fifth day Pakistan collapse written all over it.
 
Looks like Aussies realised they need to score runs now, no point hanging on getting bowled out for 400, wasting vital time.
 
Lets be honest, ball is not turning square.
There are no scary demons in the pitch.

Pakistan will have to atleast match Australia’s score to stay in the game. Secondly depends at what pace pakistan score the runs.

If We do somehow match Australia’s total, then Aussies will have to score 200+ again in 3rd innings.
 
Those 2 balls from Sajid to Khawaja, the ball before and the wicket, were outstanding, with those variations in speed and spin. He looks a different beast this morning, wouldn't be surprised if he cleans up the rest of the Aussie lineup.

Not watching live but can anyone fill here what's going on with poor run rate?

Is the pitch flat like Pindi and Australia playing defensive like Pak did in first match to make sure defeat out of equation?
Or Pak bowling negative line and hoping batsman to make mistakes like Aus did in last match but not taking the bait this time?

Australia were scoring well the first 2 sessions yesterday, they were 157/2 from 42 overs at drinks in the 2nd session. Then Pakistan began the negative line bowling in the final session to slow them down. This morning however they've been bowling a lot better, with more spin and reverse.
 
Aussies trying to grind Pakistan into the ground once again.

I thought they might have tried to score quicker today.
 
Such hype. Such buildup. Such promotion but in the end naam bade oar darshan chote. Worst test series in recent times,
 
Cummins Starc Wont hang around there should some runs scored they have about 30 overs to make as many as possible.
 
Bounce seems already dead, ball barely carrying to Rizwan.
 
The spinners and reverse swing will play a big part on the 5th unfortunately it could be Pakistan chasing on the last day...

Yes but it depends how many runs pakistan score in 1st innings and how many overs our batters have to defend on last day.
 
Pakistan need last 4 wickets here quick. batting 4th inns later in match will be tough here. we need a good 1st inns with bat.
 
Is there a chance of Pakistan victory now ? Like bat till Day 4 , score 600 and try to bowl out Australia on the final day. It also means Pakistan will not have to bat on the tougher Day 5 Pitch.

600? We’d need 3 full days to get that with our tuk tuk batters no chance of 600 in 2 days.

Two very good batting teams(Pakistanis atleast in home conditions) and average bowling teams(Australians in sub contintent).
 
All depends on Pakistan batting now will play like a resilient side and shut out Australia or will they collapse to hand initiative to Australia
 
Aussies have got their runs Pakistan have to hopefully last performance of our batters was not a bubble

Hmm. Seems like both team not showing intent.
Pakistan yesterday with negative line and Australia not scoring fast today.

However this series has been a poor show of test cricket so far. I had no interest in Ind-SL since no team stands a chance against us on our rank turners let alone Srilanka.
I was eagerly looking for Pak vs Aus hoping two good team will produce top quality test cricket.
But such a let down so far.
 
Big 1st inns runs in UAE or pakistan are always important to get a foothold in the game.

Lol, starting from Tea Day 2 and even if they bat till Day 4 say they play 160 or 170 overs they would touch 480 same like in the Pindi test, is that enough to win this.. No...

Aus has a very high chance to win this test.. Wait and watch out for Pak batsmen play the debutant Swepson as if Warne is bowling and give them a 5fer..
 
The batsmen are scoring freely looks like close to 500 a formidable first innings score.

For a home series , he has selected these type of oldie spinners who has no clue.. Sajid khan age is 26 that is surely another Ifthikar type age..
 
Aussies will have luxury of men around the bat, so they wont care if pakistan tuk tuk and dont take the inns anywhere later on.

Im expecting Pakistan to fold as well, never been easy for Pakistan when they always bat 2nd chasing 400+..

It is hot in karachi and cracks are opening up in pitch, bit of rough patches but still no real demons. Pakistan should apply concentration and bat as long as possible to ensure that on day 5 we do not have to bat more than 60 overs to save the test.

Not on this pitch, even they have far better bowlers and lot experienced.
 
Expect some leg side slogs from the tailenders they will add frustrating runs another 60-70 runs are ideal for Australia.
 
A lot of fans ignore afridi no ball problem.

He has got a massive issue which the bowling coach has not addressed
 
Sheheen failed miserably in this series as well. He has long way to go to be considered as a decent bowler.
 
Most likely we have to wait until tomorrow for Australia declare their innings. Our bowlers are really that bad to get 10 wickets of Australia.

Just hope with afridi, the hype doesn't get to his head as it did with Hasan Ali a few years ago.

Afridi is a good white ball bowler but zero stats and credentials in tests
 
Negative and slow batting from Aus. If you are 250/3 on day u should target 450+ and declare before tea.
If you cant, its negative batting and you are playing for draw. Lack of positive intent from aus.
 
If Australia score 550+ the game will be over for us. No way we can score that much in 2 innings.

Australia is targeting to bat once to score around 600 which is a good strategy. Our batsmen as usual crumble under scoreboard pressure.
 
Aussies will declare and give our openers 10-12 overs to bat i reckon tonight.
 
Australia won a vital toss. This pitch is going to assist spin from Day 3 onwards putting Pakistan on the back foot

The longer Aus can keep Pak in the field the better, no need to declare as this is a flat pitch and the game is going to be a draw anyway. Just keep batting until all out.
 
Australia batting time Starc blocking don’t think Ponting or Waugh would settle for a draw here.

Nah mate, at this rate they will use half the test to get 600 and already lost the initiative and draw becomes a real possiblity. declare now and if pak match this score or get near enough, on the last day and half anything can happen. Makes for exciting viewing.
On the other end of the scale is the banglore test which is going on fast forward on a pathetic wicket...
Both wickets are exactly what we dont want for good gripping test cricket.
 
I've never seen Pakistan winning a test match when they are batting second and the opposition has scored 400+. Atleast I don't seem to recollect. This test is either Australia's or a draw.

Not on these flat pitches

Don't forget that India lost to Eng at home on a flat deck last year and then had to go back to turners to win the series
 
Pakistan have to bat out of their skins to have any chance of saving this game.
 
Don't see Pakistan getting more than 300 in their first innings. The pitch will remain the same but the mental block is a bigger threat when Australia bowl tomorrow. Expect a 5 wicket session.
 
Is Saqlain in the stadium or home? Didn't see his face in last 2 days.
