What's new

Australia defeat India by 25 runs in 4th ODI

26 off the last over. Ishant on strike. Hope he lives up to his legacy.

India only needed run a ball in last 8 overs. Jadeja aldosterone maintained that rated but nobody gave him company.

If found guilty anyone surely will be banned. We have zero tolerance towards fixing as you aware unlike other boards :asif :amir

For the millionth time it was the ICC that set the terms.

Now concentrate on the maths, India can still win.....mathematically

Keep your tiny moral victories to yourself. India lost thats what matters in the end.

Never even saw it as a moral victory or anything. Just having some fun banter over Convicts pathetic explanation of Faulkners act that is until you came into the picture and got it all serious.

Indian cricket is finished.

We need to wake up from our delusions.

We're not among the big boys anymore.

Travis Head should be selected, someone from Australia told me that he is an average keeper but can't be worse than Wade. He sure can hit big, will be useful as lower order batsman.

He's legit worse than Wade. Head doesn't actually keep at any level.

Pathetic explanation?

It's true though.

These sort of media statements are all said for the public

Safe to say that the only thing left for Australia to have the perfect ODI team is an amazing keeper? (no one needs great spinners in ODIs with a pace attack like that)

Ah well. Who has won an ODI series here in recent times though? Not the Saffers or the English and not us. OZ better not be complacent though. Greenstorm 2016 is coming spearheaded by Umar,Shehzad, Wahab Johnson and Malcolm Amir. :holding

And they are playing 6 ODIs. Thats gonna be a long series !

How in God's name did this happen?

I went outside for some groceries with India coasting at 270/1, just came back and checked the scoreboard which is unbelievable, shocking to be honest, how can any team let alone India mess this up when they were well within range of chasing this down. This has got to be the height of incompetency from middle and lower order who failed to score 70 odd runs with 9 wickets in hand.

Anyone able to tell me what Dhoni said in the post match proceedings?

cricbuzz:

Dhoni: "Not angry but disappointed. We'd have done much better. Virat and Shikhar batted really well. I'll take responsibility because that's my job - to finish off the games from that kind of position but unfortunately I got out. There was some pressure on the youngsters. The youngsters had a tough job. International cricket is all about pressure and at times you think that's the shot to play at that point of time. You learn with time to take the game to the end. Rohit started very well with Shikhar and the Shikhar-Kohli partnership was amazing. It's not about who is learning. We have a few new players in the squad. You have to see that in the last 5 years, we didn't have a fixed bowling line-up apart from the spinners. We still have to look at the fast bowlers. We always have to score 15 extra runs. This game, we had a chance and we didn't close off the game well. Sydney is an important game."

Sorry but this is the epitome of mediocrity, yes collapses happen in cricket but this one defies logic and reason. How can any batting line up lose 9 wickets in 46 runs and that too an Indian batting lineup known for handling pressure situations and closing out games. I bet 99.99% any team including the associates would've chase this down provided the solid foundation established by Kohli-Dhawan partnership. Its mind-boggling to see India threw it away from a position of certain win, really embarrassing.

I bet even Hong Kong or UAE would expect to win after being in such a position.

Now you're going to see all the living Indian gods of cricket going down the drain! Why us the subcontinent fans become so furious on a series like this anyway! Very Impatient! Well its a fact that India kept on playing on home worst pitches; they were and are bound to fail miserably on foreign tracks! One way or the other that shouldn't make a difference! But this was no doubt the worst batting collapse somehow this Indian line up even left all Pakistani collapse behind!

You think he will quit that easily?

He was a great player for India.. deserves all the respect he gets. Just that he's not up for it anymore.. The sponsorship pressure must be the only thing that is keeping him going

He will quit whenever he knows he is not needed. Remember test series vs AUS?

There lies your answer. He 'was' a great odi player years and not anymore. We should prepare our team for the future and get some young power hitters in the team.

That really was SA chasing the total for India, wasnt it?

Maybe not, even SA would not have managed a bigger choke than this.

:)

Went to bed when India was 130 for 1 for like 10 overs or something. Woke up, continued the match from where I left of without checking the final score. LOL. Haven't enjoyed an epic collapse like this since Pakistan stopped collapsing. On the other hand, Dhoni is one step closer to retiring. Don't know wth Yadav was doing. Jadjea was doing Yadav's work and vise versa. Didn't know you can go from 277/1 to this garbage. Oh well. I feel sorry for those indian fans that stayed up watched the match.

Not sure wth happened there. Wouldn't be at all surprised if this series ends up being the last as cap'n for Dhoni.
