Gabba and Feroz Shah Kotla are world's greatest fortresses.

India has a huge task at hand in 4th test.

A draw would do actually

India definitely can breach the Gabba fortress. I can see them winning this series. Will be their greatest ever away series win.

Regardless I'm proud of my team. It's basically India D at the moment.

If Australia came to India with as many players missing it would be 4-0 every time. It would be 4-0 otherwise too.

Hopefully India can win the toss, grind down their bowlers who have bowled for 120+ overs and have had a short turn around.

Win or lose, the series will have asterisks attached to it. It is the latest invention in cricket stats which I recently came across.

Probably Agarwal & Shardul will replace the injured Vihari & Jadeja.

Game ON if one of the Indian top 5 score a century.

India have a great chance, barring labu and smith the Aussie batting has been poor all series and if india can find a way of getting both out cheaply in final match they can win the series.

Who will be 11 players for India?

I think we should bring in Saha as a keeper for Vihari and let Pant be the batsman..

For Jaddu we have no other go Lord Shradul :(

Rohit
Gill
Pujara
Rahane
Agarwal (vihari is injured so )
Pant
Ashwin
Sunder
Siraj
Saini
Bumrah

Does not make much sense for India to play a second spinner at Gabba in Jaddu’s absence. They’d rather strengthen their batting. Also makes no sense to play both Pant & Saha.

You are right.. considering Gabba our best bet is another pacer and another batsman , issue is Pant was injured second innings to keep.. hopefully recovers

India will need six batsman in Gabba. Four bowlers should be enough there.

Gill
Rohit
Pujara
Rahane
Pant
Mayank
Saha
Ashwin
Saini
Siraj
Bumrah

Gabba match is going to be over in 3 days...no hope

Take a leaf out of the team’s book and show a bit more spine. Teams lose in AUS because they expect to lose. Great to see IND reversing the trend.

No we need 5 bowler bcz if any one injured like previous match then what will happen?? So definitely 5 bowler.

India have been written off many times in the series - ODIs, T20s and Tests.

They keep bouncing back. Very credible performances despite the lowest of lows.

I do think Kohli's absence have freed them up - so they can't be called India B or C. They are expressing themselves and playing for each other.

Like everyone, I see India losing Gabba but really, who knows. They may fight back again.

The silver lining for India is that Gabba isn't the first test, which thoroughly unsettles teams.

Both Aussie openers are a fitness doubt, so if if both misd out i can see India exposing Aussies batting here and winning.

If you can get labu and smith in early you can knock them over.

Australia's imperious record at the Gabba and India's injury toll is why Ricky Ponting says Tim Paine's side has the edge heading into the series decider in Brisbane.

The fourth Vodafone Test is a winner-takes-all encounter after India defied Australia's world-class attack on day five at the SCG to secure a brave draw and keep the series level at 1-1.

But the stalemate came at a cost, with allrounder Ravindra Jadeja (thumb) and batter Hanuma Vihari (hamstring) both unlikely to play at the Gabba, Australia's Test match fortress where they have not lost since 1988.

The Aussies have their own injury concerns, with rookie Will Pucovski waiting on scan results on his right shoulder that he hurt in the field on day five and prevented him from returning to the field to finish the match.

It's been a hard-fought series between two heavyweights of world cricket but Ponting says home advantage and a more stable XI gives the hosts the advantage heading into the tour finale.

"Australia will have the edge going to Brisbane," Ponting told cricket.com.au.

"One, (Australia's Gabba) record and two, if Will's OK then they won't have to make any changes and if Will's not they'll only have to make one change and they have had a pretty dominant performance in this game.

"India again are going to have a couple of injury concerns out of this game so they've got to find another couple of guys to bring in."

Ponting says Rishabh Pant, who scored a breathtaking 97 on Monday that had India on track for a remarkable win, could play as a specialist batter and give the wicketkeeping gloves back to Wriddhiman Saha.

Saha was the designated gloveman in the first Test and filled in behind the stumps in Sydney after Pant was struck on the elbow batting.

India's selectors also must decide whether they replace Jadeja with a bowler or a batter, with Ponting suggesting the latter would provide better balance.

"If they were to play another batter, they could play that batter at five and Rishabh stays at six and Saha can come in at seven," he said. "That looks pretty good to me."

As for Australia, Pucovski's injury has Ponting worried.

The 22-year-old had shown discomfort throwing during the match and was was spotted icing his shoulder before he left for scans on the final day.

If the youngster is forced out after just one Test, Australia's selectors could rejig the batting order by promoting Matthew Wade back to the top (where he batted in the first two Tests) and return Travis Head into the middle order.

Recalling specialist opener Marcus Harris is also an option for Justin Langer and fellow selectors Trevor Hohns and George Bailey.

"The thing I'm worried about with (Pucovski), a guy playing his first Test match, not to be back out in the field at the end of the day - to me that's a real worry," he said.

"If you're a young bloke and the Test match is on the line I know I would have done absolutely everything I could to get back out there.

"That says to me he probably couldn't function properly and if he couldn't function today then I would assume that he's in serious doubt for Brisbane.

"It probably makes more sense to go back to having Wade go back to the top and bring Travis Head into the middle order."

India's gutsy effort to outlast Australia across 131 overs in the fourth innings in Sydney has set up an intriguing decider for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, currently held by India.

Along with Pant's pyrotechnics, Cheteshwar Pujara made 77 while Vihari and Ravichandran Ashwin batted for 259 balls to save the Test.

Ponting says Australia bowled "reasonably well" and were not helped by dropping four catches, but believes the accolades should be directed to the resolute visitors.

"I think you've got to give a lot of credit to India and the steely determination they showed through the course of yesterday afternoon and today," Ponting said.

"The resolve that they showed today, Rishabh Pant was outstanding, Vihari and Ashwin were impenetrable.

"Full credit to them but it's one the Australians … that will hurt them I think."

India would happily take another draw.If this happens they almost assured of final berth in Test championship.

Regardless of India A, B or C, we should accept that India has performed brilliantly than any other Asian team touring Australia.

Had they taken catches during the first test, it would have been a nightmare series for Aussies.

Probably Agarwal & Shardul will replace the injured Vihari & Jadeja.

Game ON if one of the Indian top 5 score a century.

Bhogle says india will go with 4 bowlers.
I highly doubt that as bumrah is tired and bowling slower.

Ashwin also has a bad back, so kuldeep could replace him.

Nattu is not of test quality, so shardul will definitely replace him

Do you think england has any chance of winning a test in india

We will probably not have jaddu in English series. In India he is 2 whole world class test players rolled into 1. We can only replce one.

I'm still hoping for a Brisbane miracle. 3 rookie bowlers and bumrah. May the gods be with us.

India XI for next test:-

Rohit
Gill
Pujara
Rahane(v/c)
Mayank
Pant(wkt)
Shastri(c)
Kuldeep
Saini
Bumrah
Siraj

Will be a loss as we carely put up a XI

But I don't care, this has already been an effort to be most proud of

Would be interesting what XI India go for

My XI :

Rohit
Gill
Pujara
Rahane
Mayank
Pant
Ashwin
Kuldeep
Bumrah
Saini
Siraj

No Kohli, Jadeja, Shami, Umesh, Vihari, Ishant, Rahul, Rohit (first two tests) and maybe Pant now - can’t remember another time when India lost so many players through injury (or paternity leave).

Sharma
Shaw
Gill
Pujara
Rahane
Agarwal
Saha
Yadav
Bumrah
Siraj
Saini

That's assuming Pant, Vihari, and Ashwin all won't be fit.

Nattu is not of test quality, so shardul will definitely replace him

I thhink people undersell Natarajan. His domestic stats is better than Siani

Brisbane has true bounce which will be great for stroke makers in our team. Pray we win the toss and put up a big score against tired legs and shoulders. Don't care about the 11, everyone including newbies are capable of competing , solid bench strength.

Mayank will replace vihari if he is unfit and kuldeep will replace jadeja..no other changes..

If India can win this , this would be their best Test series win home or away , I do not think in future any win can replace this , and Rahane will be remembered as the captain forever , he will stamp his authority foreever

Rahane should get the Test captaincy if that happens. The only question is Rahane's inconsistent form but then it is not that bad enough to put him out of the 11 specially when we do not have clear cut prospects for MO.

It will also allow Kohli to focus on batting rather than everything else. Hope we can get him to score at 60+ avg again.

Noooooooooo

Bad news from Australia:

According to PTI - Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of the 4th Test against Australia due to Abdominal strain.

Rohit
Gill
Pujara
Rahane
Mayank
Pant
Ashwin
Washington Sundar
Natrajan
Saini
Siraj

Ashwin talked about how draining this series after the covid break has been (and hence the injuries). Tbh this has been unfair on the Indian players. Have the Ozzie players been playing local games or were they also on a break all this while?

Lol looks like another debutant coming up.. thankfully, we have performed well in this series otherwise we would have received a lot of humiliation.

Apparently Vihari and Mayank are injured too (unconfirmed reports). Can Sunny G and Ravi Shastri please pad up?

Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of Brisbane Test due to abdominal strain

The injury-hit Indian cricket team received another blow on Tuesday as fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the upcoming fourth Test against Australia due to an abdominal strain, news agency PTI reported. Bumrah reportedly sustained the injury during the third Test in Sydney which ended in a draw.

The report cited BCCI sources who claimed that Bumrah's scans showed a strain and the Indian team management do not wish to aggravate the injury keeping the upcoming home series against England in mind.

"Jasprit Bumrah suffered an abdominal strain while fielding in Sydney. He is going to sit out of the Brisbane Test but is expected to be available against England," a BCCI source told PTI.

In the absence of Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma, who both are out of the ongoing Test series due to injuries, Bumrah is the key to the Indian attack.

It is now expected that two-Test old Mohammed Siraj will be leading the Indian attack and will be joined by Navdeep Saini, Shardul Thakur and T Natarajan in the Brisbane Test, starting January 15.

With Bumrah ruled out (as reported), available fast bowlers for India in the 4th Test:

Siraj - 2 Test experience
Saini - 1 Test experience
Natarajan - Yet to make his debut
Thakur - 1 Test experience

Fast bowlers ruled out so far - Bumrah, Ishant, Shami, Umesh and Bhuvi.

This series is cursed for us.

Players injured/missed test in this series so far

Ishant
Bhuvi
Rohit
Virat
Rahul
Shami
Umesh
Jadeja
Bumrah

Can India get an XI next test??

This is getting funny now...

Imgaine Siraj( 2 test), Saini (1 test), Shardul ( 1 test) and NatrjAan ( 0 test) playing at GABBA??

By the end of the tour all players will get injured 😂😂, Seriously I have never seen so many players getting injured on one tour.

sensible-indian-fan there goes any hope we had :))

Shocking. But this is the real test of team bench strength, resilience and passion for the test match.

India injured ( or paternity leave) team X1 on the sideline is much stronger than the playing X1. But Rahane and team have proven to be real men and not spoilt T-20 superstar sissies.

Ganna will be fun.

Indians will claim some virtue of it that they are fighting in spite of these injuries, not questioning why their players are so injury prone and jeopardise the team.

With Bumrah ruled out (as reported), available fast bowlers for India in the 4th Test:

Siraj - 2 Test experience
Saini - 1 Test experience
Natarajan - Yet to make his debut
Thakur - 1 Test experience

Thakur only 1.5 overs experience he got injured right after that so basically it is his debut match.

If Indians can win this series or if the Aussies fail to get a win in Brisbane then a huge lannat to the over rated Australian team
