There goes the only hope.. hopeless pujara in.. expecting 10 off 30 balls out from him

Pujara needs to score or should be shown the door. Unacceptable for number 3 to make string of poor scores

Pujara has been underwhelming but let's not be harsh.

We don't have replacements (for Pujara) and its possible he can make a come back to his old self.

He looked hopeless in England and is showing improvement even though its not satisfactory.

Let's wait and watch him.

He did score 150 odd in Joberg and a good 70 odd I think the next game in SA. So he has the skills. Even scored 70 odd last game and was given wrongly out for 18 in the second innings. So its not like he is being a burden.

The day he becomes a big burden we will drop him.

Match could be over tomorrow. India will not win if they continue to struggle to take 10 wkts.

He and India need lots of it considering how shabby our bowling is
Agree the discipline is not there everyone is brash. But in honesty i was seeing the UP vs MP match in Indore and it was a very good green pitch even for Parveen kumar the keeper was way behind we need to encourage such pitches and batsmen.Only MP and UP seems to have Green pitches. But the discipline is something that can only come without distractions (IPL).

71/1 Stumps.Australia's day for sure, important first session tomorrow.

We could have got owned big time but we have gained some lost ground.

Its like 1 wicket loss for us.

Battle of 1 innings but we get to bowl in the 4th innings.

I know that no target is safe for us but still we will be fighting.

Things could have been ugly if it were 50/4 today.

It could be 85/4 tomorrow morning which most of us are fearing and we know has 80% chance of happening. So yeah 71/1 is actually good.

Great day for us.

Not so great. Good but not great. I would have expected a 40 run lead or so unlike all the talking heads up there. Everyone knows Australia bats deep and the Indian bowling isn't great unless there's some pressure on the batters. We've recovered a bit and this is a one-innings two day match with India having a 26 run handicap and 1 wicket down. Arguably, many teams would prefer that to batting 4th in a match, judging by the stats that always come out and how teams tend to lose their collective rationality when they start looking at a score as a '4th innings target'.

omg indian bowling again received some whipping , I was hoping that they could wrap australia up for 350

Lots of green pitches in India. But these are not of much use without bounce. Indian green mambas do not specially reward really good bowlers who can hit the deck hard. India's green pitches (used in domestic matches but India go for spin pitches for test matches) swing like crazy and gives the trundlers cheap wickets and they will never become good bowlers bowling on these bowler friendly pitches.

India will probably get 300 and set up a target of 200. That won't be a stiff target but hoping for an Agarkar like burst from some bowler in the 4th innings. No Indian bowler looks like he can run through this Aussie side, this is the biggest worry at the moment.

Pretty flat wicket.
Will not change much tomorrow.
India should score atleast 300 runs tomorrow.

Too many flat wickets in world cricket.

Our quicks are still a real worry, outside of that hazlewood spell the quicks have really been mostly ineffective for the last 4 test matches.

Aussies in command now. But given the surface, there is a good chance that India bat whole of tomorrow giving Aussies around 320 to chase. If AUssies lose quick wickets, then with a bit of luck, India can still hope for a positive result.

India aint winning this.... not by a country mile

Our best bet is to somehow survive a day and hope for a draw...

4-0 coming up, be it a fighting 4-0 or a keeled over 4-0 bottom line still gonna be the same

We been owned dude and owned hard

things are ugly- we are losing a game we were poised to win

stop clutching at the straws

India need to look to play out 50 overs tomorrow and try to go after the tired Aussie bowlers.

Draw is not possible. If India bat all day and set up 320, the Aussies are going to get there or go down fighting. Draw will result only if India bat till lunch on day five, giving the Aussies two sessions to crack 400.

Bat out entire day scoring freely- the pitch doesnt really hold any demons to be honest....

This.
Wicket is very good for batting.
India will score at least 300 runs tomorrow.
All 3 results very much on the cards.

Seems a very good track to bat on.
Flat wicket.

Even if India get 4rpo all day they will only lead by 330 by the end of day four. If India get bowled out at this point, draw is impossible. Draw is possible only if India bats till lunch on day five. Otherwise, it is an Aussie win, or less likely an Indian win. Draw is the least likely result as of now.

Ok- we losing then.

2-0 coming up.

Overall India are still ahead in the game, today was a big comeback from us. But anything more than 250 will be very hard to chase.

Had our tail not gone crazy we could have been 200 runs behind by now and out of the game.

A few started to misbehave while we were bowling, variable bounce.

Only variable bounce was the one from Watson to Vijay in his first over..

Rest you can still play comfortably- offcourse dont know how Lyon will bowl and could be different scenario once he comes in- but I didnt see any real demons for a second innings pitch. No deviations or really hooping up or staying low.

MS Dhoni coming back and tail wagging is NOT a coincidence. It was an absolute retarded strategy to bowl short when tailenders were at the crease

Sloppy stuff from India today, they should have been looking at a lead in this match and forcing a match winning position, instead they are looking at batting into a safe position, the bowling once again has majorly let the team down.

I am commenting from experience watching games on this ground. It was Day 3, its great to bat on on Day 3.

Ahh fair enough. Pitch seems to hold so far. Be interesting to see Lyon tomorrow, for he can get a few to jump up then Ashwin might be in the game.

Surprsingly the most dangerous bowler in the 2nd innings been Watson.

Vijay wicket really hurts. He is the one player who can play in disciplined manner and can play long innings. Pujara looked scratchy. Dhawan and Rohit are walking wickets. Kohli can play some good innings but not really consistent. Only Rahane is the last hope, but he is poor against spin. On a good day, Dhoni and Ashwin can score 20-30 runs. our tail can't even survive 5 overs. So expect india to score 180-200 runs at max. Australia winning this comfortably.

Dhoni always does this. 19 players (at least 2 tests) who bat at positions 7-11 average 20+ at home against India since 2010. This is the worst tail stats since 2010. For all major test teams other than India, this figure is closer to 10 than to 20.

Well ok you know better being a local but then it will have to change quickly.

So far seems very flat and easy to bat on.
India should at least score 300 more.

a target around 250 will be testing on day 5.

If we manage to not collapse in the first session tomorrow, we could still make a game out of this. Deficit is on 25 runs.
I am leaning towards a draw 60%, Loss 40%
The problem with having a guy like Warner in the opposition is, not total is safe enough.

They didn't even reach till the tail in the 1st test. Consider this an improvement. :jf

I hope India can get a lead of 230-50 as i think it would make for a good run chase for Aussies on day 5.

Australia vs India | 2nd Test | Day 4 | Brisbane | December 17th-21st

Great fightback by Australia has put India under pressure.

Can they recover?

Why isn't Dhawan out there? Retired hurt apparently.

Just want to boys to get a lead of anything above 245, even if something unexpected happens at least we score another moral victory #BleedBlue

Moral victories so far India 1 Aussies 0.

Dude you are just embarrassing yourself and other Indian posters by your delusional post.

extra pace and bounce did for kohli this match. he will be fine when he goes back on flatter tracks.

hmmm ... that's slightly disappointing. I was hoping Kohli to score big and breathe life into this game.

Most wickets that have fallen in thos match for both teams are due to Batsman's errors.

Unless natsman gifts his wicket, bowlers arw unable to take them.

She called him Shikhtar Dhawan :))

Apparently Kohli also got hit on the wrist :O

Someone needs to tell the 2 W's you're supposed to injure the opposition, not your own batsman.
