After test matches its time for 20-20.
20-20 world champion playing against the aussies on friday at Melbourne.Australia have never won against india in 20-20.They have played 2 matches against each other.Whats your prediction? :D

yes why is the yuvinator not playing? Destroyed aus in that 20-20 game.

also will help his confidence and a good comeback/revenge for his stinker in tests.

did he not twist his ankle or something like that and yet to recover from it.

He is injured guys.He may also miss the first odi.Manoj Tewari is coming as a replacement.Yuvi will stay there.

Yuvraj has knee problem. has been playing with a brace for last 1-2 matches but probably got worse. They showed it at WACA I think where he was not playing and they were working on his knee training/injury aqnd they did say injury concern for India for ODI series

india is no.1 team in this format of game :P

Well I'm an Indian myself, and I absolutely can't stand the 20-20 format. It's a disgrace to the game of cricket.

India will continue upsetting Aus in this format.

hehe India are the champs yet Aussies are the team to beat in 20-20.

I think a new Aussie streak is about to begin.
More than Yuvraj India does not have the services of RP Singh. That will hurt more in 20-20

Sachin to make T20 DEBUT(indian media source)

Sachin Tendulkar is all set to make his Twenty20 debut when world champions India take on Australia in a one-off match here on Friday with the visitors keen to maintain their supremacy in the shortest format of the game.

With the Harbhajan Singh racial issue having been sorted out , the focus will be back on cricket but the Indians can expect a fierce backlash from the Australians who have been quite livid with the developments in the last two days.

But the Indians are quite prepared to counter the home team with a number of younger players joining the team for the tri-series, leaving Tendulkar to be the only veteran player in the squad.

Tendulkar, who had opted out of the last year's Twenty20 World Cup to give chance to youngsters, has been in great from since setting foot on Australian soil and will be keen to carry the momentum into Twenty20 game and the subsequent tri-series.

The other senior players like captain Anil Kumble, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman have returned home to give way to the youngsters. The presence of the youngsters will no doubt raise the fielding standard of the team but they have to quickly acclimatise to the conditions here.

While Twenty20 star Yuvraj Singh is out of action for a couple of matches owing to his knee injury, Gautam Gambhir, Robin Uthappa, Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik and Suresh Raina will get the opportunity to prove their worth, depending who gets the chance to be in the playing eleven.

New Aussie faces picked for India Twenty20

Australia have named a new-look squad for Friday’s Twenty20 international against India in Melbourne.

Ricky Ponting returns as captain after missing the last Twenty20 against New Zealand but just five other members of the Test side that beat India made the 13-man squad announced on Wednesday.

Matthew Hayden was left out to give him more time to recover from his hamstring injury while his fellow Test opener Phil Jaques also missed out.

Fast bowlers Mitchell Johnson and Stuart Clarke and spinner Brad Hogg were also overlooked, while Shaun Tait was not considered after announcing his retirement on Tuesday.

Ben Hilfenhaus, James Hopes, Nathan Bracken and Ashley Noffke were all added to the bowling roster while Brad Hodge and David Hussey, the brother of established international Mike Hussey, was selected for his international debut.

“He’s a good friend of mine, not only my brother, but he’s such a fantastic player to watch so I am excited about playing with him,” David Hussey told reporters.

“I’m also excited about playing with Ricky Ponting, the world’s best batsman, and Adam Gilchrist who has probably revolutionised the game.”

Australia’s chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch said the squad had been selected with an eye on next year’s World Twenty20 in England and as part of a strategy to keep their regular players from burning out.

The squad for the triangular one-day series against India and Sri Lanka will be announced on Thursday.

Australia squad: Ricky Ponting (captain), Michael Clarke, Adam Gilchrist, Nathan Bracken, Ben Hilfenhaus, Brad Hodge, James Hopes, David Hussey, Mike Hussey, Brett Lee, Ashley Noffke, Andrew Symonds, Adam Voges.

with out Hayden, they r psychologically weak.

Mitchell Johnson was their stand out bowler againt india, in the shorter version of the game, he will be missed even if Bracken replaces him. Johnson has shown in the test series that he can also throw the bat quite effectively.

let us hope the match is as exciting as their 20-20 WC clash was.

i did not try to blame you at all.
i remembered listening to an interview by Dinesh Karthik, some time back. he was telling how important his knock in that match was, in getting him back for indian test team.he said the seniors were out and he felt very comfortable in handling the pressure.

breaking news:Ponting doubtful for Twenty20 match

Australia captain Ricky Ponting on Thursday said that he is a doubtful starter for the one-off Twenty20 game against India to be played here on Friday as he still recuperating from a back injury.

Ponting suffered a lower back injury during the fourth Test against India at Adelaide and was forced to use a runner during the hosts' second innings.

"I've basically been laid on my back the last couple of days trying to give myself the best chance to recover," Ponting told reporters after arriving here on Thursday.

"We have just arrived in Melbourne and once the physio lands here he will be assessing my situation and take a decision on my availability tomorrow (Friday)."

He further said that though he is feeling better now, he is yet to test his match fitness. "Whether or not I train today or tomorrow morning will be the big question

Not the greatest squad Australia have ever mustered.

Hopes? Noffke? Have been around forever in domestic cricket.

Dave Hussey is a good inclusion though - has been outstanding in all forms of the game this season.

Voges? Maybe

Hodge? Tried and failed

Hilfenhaus has barely taken a wicket all season. There is a left armer from NSW who has an average of 14.05 for the season who can't get a run?

We should be using 20/20 to have a look at new talent, not the same thereabouts players.

Guys, do anyone of you even consider T20 to be any sort of competitive cricket ? I absolutely DESPISE the T20 format. It's a joke, an insult to the beautiful game of cricket. I fear it might someday get popular among the future generation. I dread that day. The only thing which I can't stand in cricket is T20. ICC I beg you, please scrap that format before it makes cricket a big joke !!

IMHO test cricket benefited by the advent of limited overs, the fielding improved, the scoring rate improved.

similarly 50 overs cricket will improve because of 20-20. already teams are looking at the last 20 overs of the innings , if they have more wickets in hand as a 20-20 match and score a lot of runs. they can confidently chase high scores too, making it more exciting.

Nothing to worry. in fact most of the matches i watched were thrill a minute.

With tempers flaring and media doing its part to fuel the fire, Victoria Police is taking additional precautions to control crowds. Rumours of inflammatory text messages urging retribution' are doing rounds. Similar text message campaigns in Sydney preceded the Cronulla race riots in 2005.

Victoria Police Acting Superintendent Bob Hill said he was unaware of rumours that text messages were circulating that urged retribution over the ICC decision,

"It does come as a surprise, I hadn't been made aware of that, but our planning doesn't stop until tomorrow afternoon," he said.

Mr Sutherland also denied any knowledge of inflammatory messages.

With upwards of 85,000 people expected to attend the Twenty20 match, Acting Superintendent Hill said Victoria police would adopt a firm stance on anti-social or unruly behaviour.

Additional police resources, including police at licensed premises in the Richmond area and mounted police in the MCG car park would act as a deterrent, he said.

"The concerns I had were not in relation to what occurred in Adelaide...or in Sydney between those two players. These additional resources have been deployed for the Twenty20 element - we've never had a game of this kind in Victoria."

St John ambulance spokesman Jonathan Cooper said volunteer numbers had been boosted for the match

Twenty20 cricket makes cricket sound more like a sports :19: .

More rumours doing the rounds in Melbourne. A funny one is that Australian supporters will turn their backs when Indians are batting. Looks like some of them have been watching Lage Raho ....

I think thats a great idea. The worst of Aussies team behavior is on show when they are in the field. What a great way for the audience to show their disapproval. :D

Why pay to go to a cricket match and then turn around and not watch it?

There's a stupid idea.

However it is obviously perfectly fine for the crowd to call Indian team monkeys and make monkey noises when they are on the field yes? :D

They do this warning thing before every game at the MCG - the crowd is always a little unruly.

INDIA GETTING ROCKED!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 4 for 20! We might as well have 2 Ten10 Games!

this is clearly the ICC's and the cheating umpires fault ..

good thing BCCI has a chartered flight ready in case india scores less than 100 runs..

Now it is. But before the game there was alot of talk about this streak and stuff. Typical troll behaviour.

rubbish stuff. Indian batsmen walking out with their brains left behind in the pavilion

They should be aiming for 150 now, thats the best they can hope for.

Credit to Aussie bowler's and fielders. Especially Lee and Pup for their efforts. I think Lee is just amazing. Especially that 155 km/hr ball. Good stuff.

this guy should be kicked all the way back to India. Relies on his aggression more than batting skills to get the better of the aussies

You didnt get the point? My point was its a 20-20 game it will take 3 overs to change the situation of the game.Got the point?

Everyone tries to be hero from over one. Whereas the team plan to conserve wickets until 10 overs which worked well during 20/20 championship

5.3 Noffke to RG Sharma, FOUR, short ball, hooked off the nose through a very fine, fine leg
"India are playing this as if the chartered flight is still waiting," says Sid :D
