Both India and NZ should have been able to draw the Tests had they batted a bit better.

Well I didn't see much there. Been disappointing since the SA Test apart from the one against Eng.
 
This is a sequel to the indian tour last year. Except Smith and kohli have been replaced by Warner and Williamson.

If we hadn't collapsed like a bunch of morons, we could have been 0-0 right now.

He was down on pace and looked harmless. What else was he supposed to say? The pitch wasn't flat by no means especially compared to the one served up against England.

You can say the same about the bowling. Had they bowled better, both matches would've been over even faster.

No way the Gabba match against India could've ended in a draw. The result on the pitch was inevitable. If India had scored 50-60 more runs in the 2nd innings, Australia would've really struggled since they were already 6 wickets down chasing just around 150 when they won.

Neither side has bowled well all series really, really just been that crazy 20 minutes at the gabba where starc and johnson got it right and the nz middle order collapsed.

This is like the Sharjah track from last year's NZ series but with a lot more bounce.

Did you watch the very early stuff from southee?

If the kiwis had kept the ball in the right areas long enough there was help early on but warner resisted well and they lost control pretty quickly.

Gabba isn't some greentop anyway so it's odd the view people seem to have of it, it's a new ball pitch that is mostly batsmen friendly for at least the first 3 days.

When you chase low totals sometimes that tends to happen. At one stage India were what 320 odd for just 4 down in the first innings. Then fell away and ended up being all out for 400 odd. Then again fell away in the 2nd innings after Dhawan retired hurt (one down for 70 odd at that stage). Pitch was very good for batting throughout.

The pitch was good for batting and it was a bit flatter than the usual Gabba, but no way it was a flat and lifeless track. The Aussie bowlers struggled to cope up with the heat and humidity during the first innings and Starc bowled poorly. I vividly remember commies saying 220 was a winning score in the 4th innings. The track had a bit of bounce which Mitch exploited in the 2nd innings. Among the 4 tracks used during the India series, only Adelaide and Gabba were pitches offering results, the MCG and SCG were some of the flattest highways.
 
Can I invite derision by asking any of you who are finding this match a boring bat-fest to go to my other thread about how Cricket Australia could fix this?

I remember Kerry Packer's Night SuperTests were 3 Night affairs on lively tracks.

I'm proposing that Cricket Australia replace series of 3 x 5 Day Tests with 5 x 3 Night Tests, with a new Pink ball in use at each end and with the option of Second New Balls at each end after 80 (i.e. 40) overs. If a team has a great spinner, at 80 overs they could keep one of the old balls.

Until a few years ago it was rare to get more than 1 century per Test. I think my model could speed up Test cricket and ensure that it is played when people aren't at work or at school.

And by reducing batting averages by 10 and bowling averages by around 5, it would make them genuinely comparable with past records.

Of course wasn't expecting some green top but the wicket could have been better. Should have left a bit of grass cover on the actual playing areas rather than around it.
 
Aus pitch curators should give the bowlers a chance.

Both teams might as well replace their bowlers and employ bowling guns.

It's only in Australia. Pitches everywhere else (except maybe the WI) have become way better.

Adelaide only became decent after it started to break up late in the game. But then again it's Adelaide so it's expected to be flat. Apart from that nothing much to talk about as far as I'm concerned. Below par tracks.

I guess we just have to agree to disagree from what i saw better bowlers would have found more than enough help on that gabba deck.

Put a harris or mcgrath out there and it's an even contest but both these teams sprayed the new ball through basically the whole gabba tets.

Boult and starc in particular barely made anybody play with the new ball across multiple innings.

What's even worse is that Windies is next up. Yay! The one series most ppl were looking forward to this summer and it has been a complete borefest. Oh well at least there's the D/N Test to look forward to I guess :)

India on top there , rain will not save SA , today only day 2 .

I do not see SA lasting 120 overs second innings , that will be required to save the game.
 
BMac has a mental block against Starc.

Starc blistering pace. Bowling in excess of 150k is unbelievable.

This is some serious pace. Most batsmen would struggle whether they are well set or new to the crease.
