Does Siddle have any long term future? Looks like his loss of pace is massive.

Not in home tests, I don't think. Doesn't have the pace or the height required to find success in these conditions.

Away from home he would be very valuable to Australia because of his experience and because often in non-Australian conditions all you need to do is put it on a line and length and keep it there all day long and you will find success as a seam bowler. Siddle has the discipline to do just that, so I think if Australia are touring the subcontinent or England anytime soon he's got to be given a go in the XI.

He is what he is, a reserve bowler for the national team. Doesn't play when everyone is fit but is a useful option for some days.

Pretty much.

He's there because Patto isn't fit enough yet.

And as a reserve quick he's pretty good. We can trust him to come in to the team and perform credibly which is more than we can say for the batting options

Another draw in the reckoning, don't see lights are going to cause any result

Starc continue to feast on McCullum who is a very generous player with his wicket. This wicket taking is setting us up to have to face a new pink ball under lights hmmm. Need moar wickets fast.

Ducked out to get a late lunch and I get back in to see that NZ have lost 3/20-odd. What did I miss?

Briliant bowling by Starc here . Did not expect him to be that effective in Test matches

Almost time for history to be created. Let's hope it lives up to the hype.

Interesting comments from Michael Slater.

"KW's footwork the closest to Sachin's"

"KW the best batsmen in the world at the moment, better than AB"
Apparently AB is better then tendu

The test match should have started atleast 1 hour late..so the first session would have been in complete daylight.. Second in twilight and third in complete night

Good to see such a big crowd in adelaide! 44,000 fans!

Also nice to see a sporting wicket for this test match as well.

Test cricket is dying, not many here to watch this match, poor attendances.

NZ needs to ideally bat ten to twelve more overs, but then declare (or be bowled out) no later than over 72.

They need at least 15 overs in the dark bowling with a new Pink Ball.

They would have hoped to have 50-80 more runs than 215-220, but otherwise they are on track.

Siddle 200 Test wks congrats. Not a bad time to get there. And Voges spills one ....

NZ are prolly better off having a crack wth the ball at this point.

Oz bowling was top notch. Starc might not be fit to bowl in the second innings tho. Let's see how Boult and Southee go.

SO what was all the fuss about this is bladdy awesome :))

Boult bowling well.I am actually liking Day Night Tests. Now there would be no hurry to finish the game

Smithers back at no3. If they get him tonight watch out.

Pinky might even end up replacing the white ball me thinks. Not bad at all. At least in T20s for the time being.

Pretty sure they have tried orange before coming up with pinky. Looks good to me. Lasted quite well as well despite all the talk.

Decent grass cover on the wicket and a lush outfield and the pink ball seems to hold up very well. Win win.

Is it just me or these bright colors and pink ball hurt my eyes...dont like this experiment one bit yet.

What are you watching it on. Looks awesome on telly (FHD).

Some of the clips they showed few weeks back it was pretty much impossible to keep track of the pink ball but no such issues that I can see.

So may be it is due to bad streaming quality.

Yeah got to be. This is one of the clips I was talking about. The ball just disappears into thin air a lot of the time :)) Even the seam not as difficult to see as I thought.

Barry Richards holds the bat with which he made 325 in a day at the WACA in 1970 in his right hand, and David Warner's modern-day weapon in his left, Australia v New Zealand, 3rd Test, Adelaide, November 27, 2015.

:yk

McCullum is an ignorant fool who doesn't respect cricket.

He had twenty two overs to take wickets under lights with a pink ball.

And he keeps wasting it on a spinner.

He needed Boult and Southee and Bracewell to bowl all 22 overs tonight and take at least 4 wickets.

Spin early is not such a bad ploy me thinks. Apparently not easy to see the seam for spinners.

You're at the game right? You should tell him your views.

Can you imagine Asif with a new pink ball at night? He'd be much more lethal than Amir, Wahab et al!

BMac is losing the plot now tho. Only around 5 or so overs to go and still bowling Santner and Bracewell. Fail whale.

Very interesting I hadn't heard this before. Is this just under lights or generally?

I wonder if the Suits will try to control what the players say about the ball?

That's what the players have said apparently. Even during the daytime (Smith bowled Lyon early as well). All in all tho pinky is a big win imo. I reckon it may well replace the white ball in the near future.

Yeah that's from some warm-up game few weeks back. Must have had a few vortexes or something around the ground :))

Boult has been well below par this series. All over the place.

Looks like this game will be a more competative one then the last two, why dont we get wickets like this in adelaide more often instead of the roads they usually serve up!

Only BMac knows what BMac is doin. It's the way of the BMac. That's three BMacs in a row. Four if you include the last one.

Is it ironic the pink ball has held up much better than the red ball this series so far?

History has been made peoples. D/N pinky has won. Yay! :36:

Can anybody post the highlights of last session

Sounds like starc won't bowl again in the match and likely will be out for the summer so one quick down are going to need a decent 1st innings lead in this one.
