So Australia in ominous form, winning last 3 T20I games.

Pakistan the absolute opposite - lost last 3 T20I games.

New captain at the helm for Pakistan and a few new face but will the result be any different?

Easy win
The match will start at 3 in the morning in the UK. So frustrating

Starc,Cummins,Stanlake, Zampa is a very strong attack. Pakistani batsmen will have their work cut out.

When the 2023 WC starts, I'm sure you won't be happy with the timing lol

Can't be as bad as this year's WC. The day matches started at 10:30pm and day/night matches started 1:30am. I still watched every Pakistan match then went to school with basically no sleep.

The 2023 world cup day matches will probably start at like 4pm and day/night at like 7pm, so that's actually pretty good.

Anyone else in UK remember the good old days of being a Pakistan cricket fan in the 90s, and the excitement overnight and getting up in the early hours to tune into a live Pakistan match looking forward to any of Saeed Anwar / Amir Sohail / Shahid Afridi opening the batting if Pakistan won the toss and batted , or Wasim/Waqar/Shoaib opening the bowling if Pakistan bowled first — it was so exciting to watch that team live on TV even at 3am UK time.

And then somewhere down the line it all changed, not woke up in the early hours to watch a Pakistan match since the day Saeed Anwar went and another new opener came on the scene and from Anwar who made batting look easy and beautiful, this guy makes it look like the most complicated and horrifying thing in the world.

Weather forecast isnt the best, I hope we can get a full game.

New here. I feel like Babar needed an experienced player like Malik in the team and he asked for both Hafeez and Malik. Don't think Pakistan have much of a chance here

Btw can I post a link to a discord cricket server here?

Welcome to PakPassion! Time to look beyond the seniors, we need to fully invest in the future

I used to do it too when I was younger. Now I just can't be bothered lol

No links like that allowed. Feel free to post your views on cricket

Thanks

I feel even if Australia might have the upper hand, it won’t be like Lahore. Pakistan of late have had trouble with spin—whether it be Afghanistan, Sri Lanka or whoever. But against pace-heavy oppositions, the batting actually hasn’t done poorly. In both the earlier 2019 Australia and England bilateral series, they lost all of it but scored a ton of runs. So hopefully that works out in our favour. If Pakistan bats fearlessly like it did in the England series, this will be fun.

stop living in the past dude. Focus on the present. babar, haris sohail, imam, shan masood are all talented. Teams go through tough phases. Pakistan will bounce back strong.

Zampa will trouble Pakistan

Maybe. Zampa’s record against Pakistan suggests he’s economical but he hasn’t ever ripped through the batting order. Except for the one time in the UAE ODI where he had a four-fer against the tail. I think Lyon is under utilized in this format. Sure he’s an off-spinner but Pakistan have 5 proper left-handed batsmen in the squad. And he has done well against Pakistan in the past.

It's such a painful internal struggle for me these days when it comes to Pakistan cricket. On one hand, I can't help but get excited to see and support my team, being an ardent fan, but then watching Misbah associated with this team is such a downer that I don't want anything to do with it!!!

Australia start off as clear favorites but Pakistan can never be ruled out.

It should be an entertaining game.

Washout likely. Severe thunderstorms forecasted.

Gutted, as their has been very little rain in the past month.

Whatever playing time Pakistan get, they need to make a statement of intent.

Australia must be licking their lips :wahab hope to see them licking their wounds after tge match

Unleash Hasnain and Musa alongside Amir.
Likely will be battered anyway, might as well go down fighting fire with fire.

Pakistan will win easily, #1 T20 side don't have anything to fear from the likes of Australia

Adam Gilchrist quotes:

"The Pakistan team coming to Australia this summer is young and reasonably inexperienced, they have a new coach Misbah-ul-Haq and a new captain Babar Azam; They are the number-one ranked T20I side so I expect them to be strong and very very competitive; Whats crucial is that the experienced players dont let the fast-bowlers get too carried away in Australian conditions"

"Pakistan team have a number of exciting young fast-bowlers and Misbah who has experience of Australian conditions will need to make sure that they dont fall in the trap of bowling far too short; On fast bouncy bowling pitches in Australia, often see the pace and bounce and drop too short, too often and Australians will be ready for that"

"So they must use a fuller length and the short ball as a surprise weapon"

"Pakistan have always had that interesting aspect that you are never quite sure what you are gonna get; When they are on, they are brilliant, when they are not they can look pretty average"

"I think with experience of Misbah-ul-Haq will need to make sure that they are calm and not over-exuberant on the fast bouncy wickets (fast-bowlers), and the batting will need to take their time and make some adjustments to what they are used to in the sub-continent"

"In T20 cricket they are the number one team in the world so they will be very competitive but in Test series they will have to ease their way into it, starting from The Gabba which is fortress for the Australians so they will need to try and get themselves from day 1 of the Test"

100 percent right , pakistan bowlers have always bowled way too short in australia.

The forecast a couple of days ago said rain for today as well. No rain at all today. Being sunny all day.

Weather can be unpredictable in these parts of the world. Let's hope the meteorologists got it wrong again.
If the game goes ahead, I reckon it will be a really good, competitive game.

My Line up for Tomorrow's game:

1. Babar Azam (c)
2. Fakhar Zaman
3. Haris Sohail
4. M Rizwan (wk)
5. Iftikhar Ahmed
6. Khushdil Shah
7. Imad Wasim
8. Shadab Khan
9. Mohammad Amir
10. Mohammad Irfan
11. Mohammad Hasnain

I hope Asif Ali gets a game.

We kind of need him to flop so that he isn't hovering around come the WC.

His stats show he struggles enough at national level, let alone vs Australia in Australia.

Gutted, as their has been very little rain in the past month.

According to google the chance of rain goes down by a lot after 12PM, game is at 2:30 so it should be fine.

My XI:

Fakhar
Babar
Haris Sohail
Rizwan
Iftikhar
Khushdil
Imad
Shadab
Wahab
Amir
Hasnain

1. Rizwan
2. Asif Ali
3. Khushdil
4. Iftikhar
5. Fakhar
6. Babar
7. Imad
8. Shadab
9. Amir
10. Hasnain
11. Musa

I'd like to give opportunity to that top 4. It's T20 so they should do fine playing up the order and need to give them as much time in the middle. Fakhar and Babar hardly need to play, let them come in if we're in trouble and need rescuing. Babar will also have a chance to focus mostly on captaincy instead. We desperately need to give Rizwan time especially as need to see if he holds up to international level.

Lets be practical. This line up would never be done. Even misbah wouldnt do such a mistake

everyone talking about pak batting and bowling being concern about both aspect ..
but you people are forgetting pak fielding which has been in terrible terrible form since departure of Steve Rixon .

What are the chances of the match? shall I wake up before the game or no need?

as per google 11 am till 11 pm there is no signs of rain but the weather will be gloomy

Where are you checking that, every website I am checking mentions a heavy chance of rain starting from around 12pm. Sadly, the game will most likely be rained out :(

Aamir is not an auto selection

Fakhar
Babar
Haris
Iftikhar
Kushdil
Imad
Rizwan
Wahab
Shadab
Musa
Irfan

It won't happen but I really hope Khushdil plays over Asif.

And hopefully Irfan doesn't play either. Which probably won't happen either.

The chance of rain isn't that high, we probably will get some cricket in, not sure why everyone is assuming there's definitely no game.

Our team should be

1) Babar Azam
2) Fakhar Zaman
3) Haris Sohail
4) Khushdil Shah - he should play instead of Asif Ali
5) Mohammad Rizwan (WK)
6) Iftikhar Ahmed
7) Imad Wasim
8) Shadab Khan - seems he is back in form, besides Usman Qadir seems mediocre
9) Wahab Riaz - decent in the warm up and had a good NT20 cup
10) Mohammad Hasnain - in decent form in the NT20 Cup
11) Mohammad Irfan - was good in the warm up

In his first assignment as Pakistan's full-time Twenty20 International captain, Babar Azam has been tasked with stopping the juggernaut that is Australia at the moment, when they clash in the first of three T20Is in Sydney on Sunday, 3 November.

Azam, who was named Sarfaraz Ahmed's successor as the new T20I captain after Pakistan's 3-0 defeat at home against Sri Lanka, will want to make a strong impression in his first game as the side's skipper. However, he will also be aware that winning against Australia, especially in their current form, will be no easy task.

Australia come into this series on the back of thumping 3-0 win against Sri Lanka. They won each of those games convincingly, and the hallmark of their win was that there were contributions from all corners.

David Warner was especially brutal against Sri Lanka, scoring over 200 runs in the series without being dismissed once. Aaron Finch, their captain, and Steve Smith were among the runs as well, while the bowling attack fired collectively.

Pakistan will hope that the youngsters, including the uncapped fast bowler Muhammad Musa, play to their potential and breathe fresh life into their ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2020 ambitions.

Remember the last time

When the teams last squared off in T20Is in October 2018, things were vastly different. Australia, still finding their feet in the absence of the suspended Smith and Warner, were humbled 3-0 in the United Arab Emirates. Pakistan were in brilliant form then, and boasted of a team worthy of the No.1 spot on the MRF Tyres ICC Men's T20I Team Rankings. In fact, Pakistan are still top of the rankings charts, and will quickly want to return to winning ways in the shortest format.

What they said

Aaron Finch, Australia captain: "They've got such a well-rounded attack. You've obviously got the height, bounce and pace of (Mohammad) Irfan. Then you've got (Mohammad) Amir, who is fast and can swing it. Very skillful. Then you have (Wahab) Riaz with all out pace, who can spray them around at times, but when he gets his line and length right, he's lethal. Then you have Shadab (Khan), who is a world-class leg-spinner who can mix it up a lot. Mohammad Hasnain is genuine pace with his right-armers, we saw him in the UAE earlier this year. He's got some real pace."

Babar Azam, Pakistan captain: "We've got a plan ready for David Warner. He's one of Australia's really good batsmen. We have our front line bowlers, we have a strategy ready for David. Obviously, once he gets going, he gets going, but we have a strategy in place for all facets."

Conditions

A thunderstorm is forecast in the afternoon, and the temperature isn't expected to cross 30 degrees. The pitch at Sydney has traditionally been good for batting, but it can also offer something for the spinners.

I have just checked the weather forecast and the chance of rain has dropped. We are hoping that we get a full game and Pakistan come victorious. In Sha Allah

One more day awaiting one more beating from a tougher full strength opposition. :uakmal
