Mohammad Irfan's failure in 1st T20I could lead to a Musa debut - but you never know with this management.

What team should Pakistan play in this crucial game?

There are two types of people in the aftermath of the race that stops a nation.

"There will either be people looking to drown their sorrows or celebrate their victories on the Cup and come across," Cricket ACT chief executive James Allsopp said.

He is hoping plenty from both fields will make their way into Manuka Oval for Australia's Twenty20 clash with Pakistan on Tuesday night.

The first men's Twenty20 international played in the ACT comes hours after the Melbourne Cup is run and won with scores of racing fans set to spend their day at Canberra's Thoroughbred Park.

It makes for a bumper day of sport but Allsopp concedes the early forecast has Manuka Oval being well short of a sell-out.

"We set a budget target, we'd like to get about 7500 there given the Melbourne Cup is on the same day," Allsopp said.

"It's the first ever Twenty20 international [in Canberra], featuring the No. 1 side in the world against an Australian side which is playing really well, it will be a great spectacle.

"Hopefully we can get close to a capacity crowd."

An average of 18,999 fans have walked through the turnstiles for the Australian men's side's first four Twenty20 games this summer in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane.

That number is set to take a small hit at a boutique venue which holds close to 12,000 for cricket, and Allsopp says those who get there best brace for fireworks.

"It's amazing. David Warner still hasn't been dismissed in Twenty20 cricket [this season]," Allsopp said.

"They're going to be batting on what data shows is the best white-ball batting wicket in the world with the highest average totals scored at Manuka Oval than any other venue in world cricket.

"If you're in the crowd, be ready to catch some big bombs from someone like David Warner who is in really good form.

"We get to see Steve Smith in the flesh and just see his mannerisms, what he does, what makes him so successful.

"People are going to be talking about Steve Smith the same way they talk about Don Bradman."

Irfan will get another game
Don’t see any change

Misbah will want to prove his own selection was a good selection, so he will stick with Irfan hoping he performs.

I'm just hoping against hope Misbah has some sense knocked into him and selects either Musa or Hasnain. Even better would be to drop Wahab as well and play both teens. Drop Asif and play Khushdil.

Kane Richardson feels like he is fighting for a Twenty20 spot with Australia every day but would be "foolish" to seek advice from one of his fellow pace aces.

Because, he says, "I don't think I could do what [Mitchell Starc] does".

Richardson thinks Pat Cummins might be more his style as they prepare to link up for Australia against world No.1 Pakistan at Manuka Oval on Tuesday night.

Experimentation has been shelved in favour of continuity as selectors eye next year's T20 World Cup. It means Richardson is in the box seat for a place in the XI alongside Cummins, Starc and a pair of spinners.

But he said looking too far ahead would be a major disservice to the likes of Billy Stanlake, Sean Abbott and injured quick AJ Tye.

"We always talk to each other during the game about what's working. I'd be foolish to ask Starcy what he does well because I don't think I could do what Starcy does," Richardson said.

"I think Cummo is the one. We're similar kinds of bowlers in terms of the length we bowl and what we're trying to execute. Again, he's a class above. It's nice to see what they're thinking and try to emulate that where I can.

"I know a lot can change in a year. I learnt that in the 50-over World Cup just gone, getting called up two days before the team left.

"For me, it's just about trying to perform every single time I get an opportunity. I feel like I'm almost playing for a job going forward because there are so many good bowlers around.

"I would never look too far ahead. It's knowing your role. In Twenty20 cricket as a bowler, that's so important. There are roles allocated in Twenty20 cricket, and everyone in the bowling group knows their role.

"It just makes it easier and [captain Aaron Finch] has been really good on the field to keep communicating throughout the game. At the moment, we're taking wickets early, and that's taking the pressure off us."

That, and the sparkling form shown by the men at the top of the order. David Warner is yet to be dismissed in a T20 international this summer having posted scores of 100, 60 and 57 in three matches against Sri Lanka.

Only rain stopped him against Pakistan - and even that didn't dislodge him.

"He's a super player. He had a quiet night [on Sunday] because he only faced four balls," Richardson said. "The confidence [Warner and Finch] have at the start of the innings gets us off to a good start, then we have Mr Fix It at three if something goes wrong in [Steve Smith].

"The bowling group has confidence, the batting group does as well. Some of the guys in the middle order are just desperate for a hit."

Whether they can get one in Canberra remains to be seen - it is a deck long regarded as a batsman's paradise.

Having faith in their familiar roles could prove crucial for the bowlers as Richardson expects the attack to come under pressure.

"Runs, lots of runs," he said when asked what he was bracing for. "From past experience, it's always going to be flat and it doesn't really do a whole lot. I'll back us in to get the win."

Fakhar has to go. Bring in Imam.
Irfan also needs to go and be replaced with a young speed demon.

Ideally I would like to see Musa - Qadir- and Khushdil Shah given a go how ever that won't happen

Seems like Bubble has burst early, not much buzz about the 2nd game, Hopefully Irfan will not play

Ground is small, Khushdil over Haris can be a good call as having 2-3 players players who can hit big on a gorund with small boundaries can be good.

Also the question would be if two spinners should play on gorund with small boundaries or not, Unless there is some spin, maybe only one of Imad or Shadab should play. Dont know the exact measurements of the ground but its smaller than usual Aussie grounds.

Fakhar (last chance)
Babar
Haris
Rizwan
Khushdil shah (throw asif out somewhere)
Iftikhar
Imad
Shadab
Wahab
Amir
Hasnain

Predicting a massacre tomorrow. Pak batting looks a joke. If babar fires then we might get to 150.

Complete mismatch of a game

Pak biggest problem is their keeper especially in T20s...

They just dont seem to have the sort of game to hit out.

Just like, Sarfaraz before him, Rizwan simply doesnt have the hitting game/power.

Only way to get the best out of him is to ask him to open...with Fakhar out of form, it may not be such a bad idea.

He can try to pierce the field or hit over the infield..thats about it.

Or to a lesser extent, no 4 may be, if and only if, Pak lose a few quick wkts so that he can do a consolidating job...after that just get out.

If everything goes to plan, he doesnt have the ability to bat anywhere above no 9, given the batters who can hit out more cleanly than him.

So, my question is simple...isnt there a wicketkeeper out there in the fold of a Buttler, Bairstow, Carey etc out there?

Surely, in a populatiin of 22 million...there has to be one!

Why can't Pakistan play Abid Ali as keeper in T20s. He is such a classy batsman.

Not in the current domestic lot. Rizwan is the best WK/Batsman we have followed by maybe Umer Siddiq but he isnt that good a keeper. Stats of 2019 domestic season which is going on will also manifest the same.

Buttler, Bairstow, QDK are rare talents and even other countries dont have such WK batsmen.

Why can't Pakistan play Abid Ali as keeper in T20s. He is such a classy batsman.

He cant hit big shots the problem which many are saying Rizwan has. His T20 numbers and recent domestic T20 performances will reflect the same.

Pak need to bat first and go hard or go home. No point stumbling to 155 here, just tee off and see how u go.
I worry if Aus bat first

Any wagers on when they plan to fly in hafeez and malik?
