Australia v Pakistan | 2nd Test | Melbourne | Dec 26-30, 2016 | Day 3

It seems like it's pak who is leading series, 1_0 amd trying their best to draw this match and waste time and overs, but oh wait,,
 
Interesting just looking at the top 10 scores in Australia by Pakistanis, 3 have come at Adelaide. They have in fact scored a total of 7 centuries in 4 Tests at that venue, which is probably the best batting surface in Australia, but Pakistan have not played there since 1990.
 
Would be an incredible achievement if Azhar gets a double here. He deserves it.
 
In his 170 Azhar has only hit 15 boundaries (60 Runs from boundaries) and has ran the other 110.
 
I think Sohail is insuring his place in Sydney by showing his batting expertise compared to Rahat.
 
Declaration should be out of the question.

Rather get out slogging. You will need more than 350 runs to beat Australia in this test, so better to get as many of them in the 1st rather than the 2nd inns.

He's conserving energy. He has to bowl, and we know what happens to him after his first spell.

In all honesty, they should've sent Wahab and Yasir in ahead of him, hope they help Azhar to get to the desired score, and then declare without having Sohail bat. Now that he's in, they'll probably want to send Wahab and Yasir in just to give him a rest.

As usual tail is outperforming the real batsmen. If it wasn't for Azhar Ali's score we would have scored 200 or something.
 
With all this running Sohail will be tired after his first spell.

50 partnership, all of a sudden Pakistani tail has been transformed.

I guess this game is increasingly going towards a draw.
 
Was there something fishy (apparently) about Mark Waugh dropping Saleem Malik at 0 at Rawalpindi in 1994 ?
 
Why are we dying to declare. We won't win the game with 350. Keep batting as long as possible and run their bowlers into the ground

And if we don't win then at least psychologically we have kept them out there toiling for days

Pakistan are basically in a position from where they can't lose. Unless they're bowled out for around 50 in the second innings

I dunno if Pakistan can get 20 Australian wickets in probably under 250 overs

Draw is the most likely result, especially if Pakistan keeps batting

Each game he commentates on provides more evidence that he had absolutely nothing to do with the strategy of the test team and Pakistan fans should be forever grateful for that :salute
 
Pakistan is playing for draw, what else you expect from Misbah. Time to declare or to go for quick runs, what Pakistan is to worry at this moment.

Pitch is flat. One of warner smith or usman score a 100 they'll cruise to 300.

We need to bat once or bat once with a second innings being a slog- Swann just said that on the uk coverage too.

Get 450 by lunch. Bowl then out by tomorrow lunch or after for around 300. Quick slog and set a target of 300 on day 5.
 
We need to keep batting until 450 and secure a draw first...... Too many times we've seen what happens when we bat a second time after a goodish first innings.

Secure the draw and then have a go at the Australian batting to take 20 wickets....

I would take the series a draw here and the series being alive going into the last Sydney test !!

You won't win with 350 on board. Right now their bowlers are under the cosh keep them there and score what u can. This also deteriorates the pitch...if we are capable of winning 200 overs is more than enough for 20 wickets
 
Pakistan can't lose from here so no point in simply keep batting. Put Aus out and if they lose quick wickets then game will open. It's Pakistan down by 0-1 and not Aus. Onus is on Pakistan here specially after batting first.

Declaring now doesn't increase our chances of victory a great deal.

Australia's best chance of winning the test is if we declare now.

I don't understand why this beyond the comprehension of so many people. We need to bat 1.5 times max if we're to win.

Even a poor Aussie performance they can score 280 then your lead of 80 is nothing.

Do Pakistan want to bat a second time? Nah, play for another 10-15 overs, get as many runs as possible, then declare. That we, if we do bat again, it won't be for long periods.
