Remember Warner took time to flourish at test level ... Sharjeel should be invested in for a good 15-20 test matches on the trot to see if he can show signs of being an impact opener. In just his brief 40 we saw him put pressure on Aussies ... we have lacked this sorely since the game has advanced in the last 6-7 years in terms of scoring rate. He is a player that should be backed and given confidence because he's got natural ability to put the ball balls away. He can be our Warner if persisted with.

Sharjeel has no ability against spinners. He will be exposed badly in subcontinent against a decent spinner.

It's kind of funny, it's like Pakpassion had the responsibility of selecting Asif and Butt lol. Like posters here were to blame.

Asif and Butt didn't play because they fixed for 5 years and weren't there when we needed them. Their fault. They would most likely be playing this tour if they didn't fix. But they did. And selectors didn't feel it was worth bringing back two fixers. It's hassle bringing in fixers back into the team (who already hurt the integrity of Pakistan cricket). Five years out is a lot, there's a good chance they won't be the same as when they left (Amir isn't even the same as what he was before and he's a lot younger than the other two).

Furthermore Asif is now getting old for a fast bowler, so dunno how many years he'd have left anyway. And Butt was so mediocre as a batsman (apart from Australia), that is seems hardly worth bringing him back (bringing him back for just three tests seems dumb, not building for the future at all).

They'll - 7-8 overs, so that PAK openers basically play 2 innings - half an hour on day 4 & then a restart again next morning. Bonus is, Smith 'll unleash his 2 pacers for the key 20 overs of Kookaburra at full throttle - 4 each tonight; 6 each next morning.

PAK has to come out of UAE, or UAE tracks have to change - otherwise, future is India of 60s & 70s; or may be even Bangladesh of 2000 .......

Fast bowlers or otherwise, your example of India in the 70s is a poor one. India was ranked #1 in mid-70s, so whatever strategy they were following was a successful one.
