What do you mean by this Oxy?

Rightly or wrongly, I have this image of Aus NOT being particulary receptive to Asian/Muslim visitors.

Sky have really improved their "proper" HD coverage and probably have 30 HD channels right now. In the old days 80% of the stuff on their HD channels was simply upscaled SD - you could see it a mile off. Things have got better but this is a setback.

SD rules in my house!

Morkel needs to bowl a little fuller here

Aus 50/1

Same as my impression. Never been but some of the abuse asian teams have suffered in Aus creates a bad impression.

RA - dont get your nose out of joint, just pointing out that its simply an impression. I know teams have suffered abuse in India as well.

Fair enough and probably right. Something do with Australians being murdered overseas by Muslims. Rightly or wrongly that is how is it viewed here.

Asian visitors I would disagree these days. There is a sizable Asian population in Australia.

Morkel hits 150 kph. Much better. :akhtar

Shocking spell from Dale Steyn he did not even make an attempt to make the batsman play. Neither did he swing the ball either. The guy is nothing without swing. Ntini was like a robot operating outside the offstump. Overall i wasnt too impressed with the South African bowling so far, no attempt to make the batsman play. Atleast pitch the ball on the stumps to get some lbw's into play.

Too bad for Hayden, people are losing patience. If Lee couldnt do anything in Perth, what is he going to do here? He is lucky to be in squad and the Aussies have again literally played a bowler short. I would have picked someone like Hilfenhaus who atleast can swing the new ball.

It goes back a lot longer than that - from the early 80s in fact.

Kallis decides to roll the pitch to make it flatter :)

I agree Oxy. It's a widespread view amongst Pakistanis here in the UK.

Some good singles being taken here, this is more like Australia of old, looking for any opportunity to score runs.

The wicket does look good for batting but S.A bowling has been on whole very poor!

Neither Morkel or Steyn have been able to hit a consistent line and length

please don't mention line and length to fast bowlers. They just have to bowl 145+

Morkel bowling like Harimson did in Australia on last ashes tour!

**** poor bowling here Katich gets 3 off his pads

66/1

Disappointing bowling so far, either this is a very easy pitch to bat on or S Africa are still celebrating the win in the previous test.

Morkel rates somewhere near Harmison and Tait for mental strength from what I have seen of him. Big, fast, soft.

I hope Morkel's not another Sami!!

I was quite impressed by him in England and Boycott thinks highly of him too :-)

Ive always enjoyed watching Test cricket in Aus on TV. Its on at a good time and also its good quality cricket!

He just doesnt seem to know which way balls swinging or be able to control it.

Who no doubt have never been to Australia either

One Pakistani bloke I know went out there to work for 6 months. I think in some places they were generally okay but others they were pretty bad.

Outsidr cricket, Australia doesn't excite me either.

Intresting to see if Harris gets any purchase on this wicket. Bounce will be less then at perth!

Not looking good for SA at the mo...Steyn needs to be brought back and must bowl better.

Morkel doesnt even do anything with the ball. All he does is bang the ball on the pitch and uses his height. He has been extremely ordinary everytime i have seen him. I thought he would be the next big thing because of his pace and height but he hasnt produced any devestation as yet.

If he could bowl 2 balls in a row on a decent line and length he could cause problems.

That's fine you stay living in England then :)) :))

again??? Please do not mention this ugly phrase to bowlers. They can be dumb enough to forget about their pace and just concentrate on line and length to get some wickets

Indeed, and i believe he still has enough time to learn. He does have the pace and height. Also has team-mates who do know how to be a good pace-bowler :)

Look man. I don't believe in stereotypes. I just spent 2 whole months in India in June and July. If that's possible, then world peace certainly is without me expanding on it too much!

I'm sure I will go to Aus one day!

It has a lot more to with the attitude of the person who comes to Australia, some people come here with the attitude they are better than everyone else and so they have problems getting on with others. Some people only look for negative things and that is all they will find regardless of what is there, they dont call Australia the lucky country for nothing.

Pak will have long been outcast by the internation cricket community by then.

Even a Pak tour to another country will be seen a dangerous.

Quote me on this in 12 months time

Fair do's man. I heard more positives than negatives. I retract my statement...inshallah I will go one day. Just at this mo it doesn't excite me.

Anyhoo, SA need to get a grip.

A lot of the PPers like Genghis Khan(who lives in Brisbane) speak positively about AUS

Does depend on your initial experiences, if you have the misfortune to run into a xenophobic or racist Aussie (and there are a few of these) then you will have a different view than if your initial experience is with friendly and welcoming Aussies.

Then again, some visitors and residents do not make an effort to help themselves. But that is another discussion.

To the cricket, this looks like a long day in the field for the Saffers.

thats not good for PAK because Melbourne is the SLOWEST AUS pitch these days

...and Hobart :po:

In current form of Australia, Pakistan will not have much trouble against Australia regardless of the surface. If last 5 tests they played is any evidence then you can bat against that bowling all 5 days. Infact i will tip Pakistan as favorites against Australia.

Whao! almost a run for Ponting
Aus 75-1 after 23 overs
Steyn jumps up and will bowl now

Yaar you get the 2 fastest pitches instead. :D

Bowlers will enjoy it, the batsmen will struggle.

As for Hobart, at least it is 3 Test series not 2. Was a good game there last time. :D

If CA could reschedule next summer they would because WI do not deserve Melb, Sydney, Adelaide.

:))) :))) Pakistan favourites against Australia in Australia?

Have you taken on Muhammad's posting role?

I find it ridiculous that WI get 4 tests in England 2007- then 4 tests in WI 2008 then 2 more (albrit SL pullout) 2009 and then the Boxing Day test 2009. And Pakistan....

Gul and M Talha will have a very good time at Brisbane.

I have mentioned if "this bowling is any indication". I remember Australia struggling to take wickets of Kumble, Harbhajan, RP singh, Muralitharan.
This was when Lee was in prime form. Now Lee is nowhere close to how he was exactly one year back. Clark has been in and out. What i say is not far from realistic. Sure you can outbat Pakistan but if Pakistan has a good session with bowling they can put Australia under serious pressure.

Katich 50 pff 84 balls. He has 2262 test runs now. averaging 44 if Aus declares right now
Aus 84-1 after 25 overs @ 3.36

How many batsmen scored 1000 runs this year?

Very disappointing year.

Looking at the pitch i reckon there is more than an outside chance that Smith will break M Yousuf's record.

Dropped! Dubya dropped
