What's new

Australia vs Pakistan | 1st Test | Brisbane | Nov 21-25, 2019 l Day 4 l Match Thread

Shaan
Azhar
Imam
Babar
Asad
Haris(after a bit of coaching and yelling at)
Rizwan
Yasir
Shaheen
Naseem
Abbass

This team will win at adelaide!
Mark my words!

At Pink Test, I am not sure what Yasir can do. Depending on the colour of the track (I expect to be much greener), I’ll play 4 pacers and drop Yasir. Or may be even three pacers and 7 batsmen, including Abid, and bowl lots of overs from Haris - he can keep it tighter.

What good signs, lol? Babar is world class. I've yet to see a bowler trouble him for long periods.

Lol! Agreed but this was Babar’s first tour of Aus, there is no question about his class but question was how easily and quickly will he adjust to these alien conditions which many top and experienced batsmen even struggle to do.

Babar has now looked comfortable in whole of SENA countries which is a rarity for a batsman so young and that too on his first tour. Hopefully big innings will start to come soon from his bat.

So we have survived the first session. Didnt expect that.
The pitch is a pancake, the problem is we have only 2 international standard test bats in asad and babar and 2 half batsman in shaan and rizwan.
The rest are trash. So effectively, we are playing with 3 batsman! Imam has to play next game, but hes awful against bouncers.
If we had 6 decent batsman, we can beat this team.
Babar should get a century if the rest of the team stick with him, he may even get a daddy hundred.

Also, when is this team going to leave bouncers alone, shaan's shot is one of the worst shots i have ever seen in a test match under the circumstances we are in, gives mindless wonder haris's shots a run for its money.

This is babars second tour of australia.

Did you mean draw? Beating will needs taking 20 wickets. Bowling needs to step up a lot to take 20 wickets without giving too many runs.

PCB should try exporting the soil from Gabba and Perth and use it as pitches in some of the grounds in Pakistan and see what result they get.

Even ifti could have let the ball go, instead of playing at it and getting out.
Do these guys not understand on these hard bouncey australian tracks, the bouncers will miss the stumps!

Shaan
Asad
Haris
Ifti
All could have left the ball that got them out.
Only azhar got a wicket taking delivery

No need, first of all these are drop in pitches and secondly, all you have to do is increase the clay content to make pitches more bouncey.

Haris and Imran Khan sr are out of the Adelaide test anyway. Imam and Abbas will play for sure.

But will Misbah also drop Iftikhar and Yasir (tactical change)?

SCG and Gabba do not use drop-ins yet. But yes need to get similar pitches back home. Also age-group and A team tours so they can get used to the Australian bowlers as well. Rahat Ali on a bouncy pitch at home is still no Jhye Richardson.

Actually haris and imran are very well suited for the adelaide pink ball night test.

Imam and abbass should also be selected and shaheen rested and ifti dropped.

Commies said on day 1 that this is a drop in pitch.
Rahat has no control thats why, didnt he say some balls just swing, he is clueless.

Yup.

For 25-30 years it's been Pakistan's bowlers that have let us down in Australia. Even last tour we did better than usual with the bat but the bowlers just couldn't take wickets or slow the run rate.

Junaids

People make fun of junaids but he is a smart cookie and knows his stuff about cricket. He was bang on, when he said you need 6ft 4 inch fast bowlers on these bouncey aussie wickets.
Eshan adil and maybe sameen gul would have been very useful in this test.

But if bouncey wickets are our kryptonite then swing is the aussie kryptonite and the next test they will be swing at adelaide in the pink ball night test.

Listening to Wasim is like banging your head against the wall. Just keeps repeating the same things stint after stint.

Umpire clearly wants to carry on watching Babar bat. He’s one of us :yk

How? We gifted them 4 of the 5 wickets and babar is showing the others what a pancake this pitch is. Just get out of the way of the bouncers and dont play at them.

I'm not worried about the Babar end (well not until that last appeal) but if Rizwan goes, Starc and co can wrap up the tail fast.

See!
From babars review, most of these deliveries are missing the stumps due to the bounce.
No bouncer is going to hit the stumps, just leave them alone and get out of the way!

Waiting for one of the co commentators to get annoyed and slap Wasim next time he interrupts them :moyo

babar is the most aesthetic batting maestro I have ever seen in my entire life.
So elegant. oozes class. I can watch this boy coverdrives all day.

Rizwan has been our most impressive player this game. Such a shame to get out the way he did in the first innings. And Babar plays an exquisite shot for four

OK, I'm going to get a drink and something to eat. You boys better make sure a wicket doesn't fall while I'm downstairs :mv

Rizwan has been the best find for us in this tour

Got to get rid of ugly batting of Sarfraz

Everyone already knew Rizwan was a good bat and a very improved Wicketkeeper. Anyone that watches first class. Only issue is that we should use someone more explosive for T20s

Rizwan has played well, but hes a keeper/batsman not a pure batsman.

He has looked a better batsman than everyone else this game except Babar. His first class batting performances have also been better than the vast majority of pure batsmen. He's good enough to play as a batsman alone, it helps that he's also the best gloveman in the country

Rizwan has looked more solid than most our batsmen. Good off the backfoot, can play the short ball, plays with the full face of the bat, plays late, and is staying reasonably tall. Definitely an upgrade over Sarfaraz where batting is concerned.
