looking at malik's stats..mind boggling stuff why he's been dropped...even 40+ average as an opener...but we rather go with those in 30s or 20s..

These two making a big comeback. Big accomplishment if they survive till tea.
Easy tiger, its not even lunch time yet.

butt just hit a shot to the hanging point fielder n they didnt run the single.>HAHAHAA

looks like moyo's comments have really hit home

yaar to be very honest i saw it in NZ Vettori was doing it too.. changing the field after a single boundary and now Ponting and Yousuf is doing it either way looks like Test cricket is changing a little

Test cricket has been like that for a few years now, you don't see attacking fields except for the start and the end of innings (and the 5th day of a test when the bowling side has a massive lead to play with).

It's mostly in-out fields with some men on the boundary to stop any boundaries and prey on the patience of batsmen who have become accustomed to scoring at 4 runs an over at all times.

72% of Butt's runs have come in boundaries
69% with Malik

The chapter in the coaching manual titled rotating the strike must have been skipped.

Saying what?

that he has a solid defense and can play long innings..like he did against Sri Lanka in 2006..that inning he played was 10 hours..we can use that here...

We need to rotate the strike atleast vs the spinner

The problem with Pakistan cricket is they are bullshitters all throoughout the early 90s since I been watching. We always had one or two world class batsmen and the rest would disappoint regularly! what got us out of jail was our bowling especially the 2 Ws. Its just that rest of the world has improved and we have remained static and we do not have the services of 2 Ws no more.

Butt with another 4

Highest score by any Pakistani on this tour..with Butt on 74*

I hope Yousuf is practising his stares, he needs to dish out another one of those bad boys to both these batters in the interval.

butt on 74..if he can get a 100, yousuf might forgive him a little.
He needs to get 150, 50 for himself, 50 each for the 2 men he ran out
4 more, Malik down the pitch

Well there's the charging down the track that you know Malik was eyeing up since Hauritz came into the attack.

If he doesn't score 150+ and gets dropped this summer then England won't forgive him

from the first ball malik faced vs hauritz, i was thinkin 'it looks like he really wants to smack him..', and then next ball is exactly what happens, haha

If these two survive this session, will it be the only session we haven't lost a wicket in the whole series?

All this talk of tactics, team selection, politics and positive intent but all we needed to succeed was The Stare™ :moyo

Might be the only one in this whole tour of NZ and Aus.

:))) :)))

Butt doing well, now imagine farhat and manzoor holding their wicket at the other end and both in their 70s. Butts got the temperment unlike farhat. Im happy if he performs like this in the england tour. If openers can get 100+ partnership thats excellent. Needs to rotate strike more and have a bit more feet movement.

Neh how about that session in the last test with our two openers..

Didn't Akmal and Yousuf bat out the final session at the MCG (4th day)? I may be wrong..

In this team all we need is yunis and afridi (c) for manzoor and farhat and I reckon we can do well in the future.

Isnt Younis in Woeful form?... we criticise Yousuf but didnt we lose terribly in Sri Lanks chasing low scores

looks like the kick in the Butt worked..fat-butt must have been reading pp and must have got a cold shoulder from many guys last night!! this is the sort of wake up call our soft players need!!

I don't know but I feel we need Kamran Akmal now. Maybe Sarfraz can do it too but don't need a 50 run at 70 SR from anyone of these players. Need runs and need to stay there as time/balls has to be played too

No No ... Akmal needs to work at his batting for 6 months and forget about keeping and make comeback as batsman only. We have had enough of his keeping in last 6 years!

Good session from Pakistan. This steel in the batting would have been handy, oh, about 2 Tests ago.....

Great session for us - we are still miles away from the Aussies BUT its vital these 2 keep going, the scoring rate is not that important as the runs will come slowly BUT surely - the priority is to not get out and both of those guys deserve credit for hanging in there

Even for a couple of hours on Day 4 at Sydney would have been nice

Salman Butt is gritting it out. He knows that he needs to score big if he ever wants to gain respect from Yousuf.... otherwise he'll get some more :moyo .

re; Kamran Akmal, I was actually referring to Umar Akmal

Australia didn't look a side 2-0 in the series in that session.
Don't worry, soon enough they'll look a lot like a side 3-0 up.

Just a little trivia for ppl while they wait...

If you type 'Christianity is' in google box you get a drop down of all the various search terms.

However, if you type 'Islam is' in google box, you do not get the drop down.

works with all other religions except Islam

we love dead rubbers..our players are ideal for it!!

Malik a lucky man. Every time he is out, he gets a flat track to come back. I hope he wasn't sitting around but working his technique for last 30 odd days.

I think this was a great chance for MoYo and Umer to score big. Too bad.

we are 360 runs behind in dead rubber...what's there to love beside Malik and Salman can score indead rubbers?

we will still be bundeled out for 280 plus.
