Michael Clarke, Australia captain: Credit to the boys for the way they batted. Maxwell scoring his first ODI hundred for Australia was just brilliant. Watching a lot of players around the world score so freely and so quickly, then any score is chaseable. The curator deserves a lot of credit for producing such a wonderful wicket here at the SCG. Starc has been brilliant both with the new ball and at the death. (Twitter question - What do you find more enjoyable, chasing or defending 300?) I would take scoring 375 and then backing the bowlers every time.

We need players to make a statement against flat tracks and here Clarke gives praises to the curator.

You cant have out of form bowlers like Perera bowling at death, Mathews hasn't done well with the ball either, these were only 2 other pace bowlers for today. Herath was injured so Prasanna came in, he bowled ok early but then as expected got beating at the death because he can't turn the ball much.When you can't turn, chances are your mid-air flight change wouldn't be effective and your ball won't turn at all if you put dip on the ball and batsmen will come down with no fear and smash you. With new 4 fielder rules spinners who turn 4-6 inches have no value. Maxwell wouldn't have hammered if Lakmal was bowling there or even Kulesekara, SL bowlers gave him time to smack them around. I don't think they'll take this lose too badly.

Good game, looked as though the game was being played at the Premadasa. I really feel that SL were too batting heavy in this game, even if I realize I'm saying that with the benefit of hindsight. Upul Tharanga batting so low down was a waste of a spot. Might have been better utilized giving that to a seam bowler.

You really expected Clarke, who plays for NSW and whose home ground is the SCG, to make a statement saying Tom Parker produced a terrible wicket because both teams scored 300+? At least he didn't tip the curator like Dhoni did at Green Park.
