Babar Azam and Haris Sohail: Brothers in arms in ODIs!

Today Babar Azam proved that he can overcome the Akmal genes and actually win us a match. He's only 24 and it was at this same stage in his career that Kohli began to care more about fitness/off field issues and added the extra gears to his game. He is set to break all the records for Pakistani batsmen in ODIs, and possibly Tests. How much he goes on to achieve now depends on his mindset.

He needs to show that he is willing to go the extra mile off the field to improve his game to the next level and stay consistent at the top. I fear that he will be content with simply being a Pakistani great instead of pushing on to become an ATG. (Our management need to change this culture)

Insha'Allah I am proved wrong.

I have been a supporter of Haris for a while now but even he has suprised me with the level of brilliant preformances he has created, I feel Haris coming in for Malik may be similar to Shezhad getting injured for Fakhar in the CT.

The PCB cost this guy two years of his career, and he ended up gaining more weight after coming back. Hopefully he can maintain his fitness. That's the only thing missing from him. He has everything needed to be a great player. I think without injuries, he'd probably have a higher ceiling than Babar.

Babar becomes a man today. He took his team across the other side and got a win. This performance should turn him into what everyone wants from him.. To be the leader of the batting attack:salute

This middle order should be maintained after the world cup with probably Abid Ali coming in.

1. Abid Ali
2. Imam ul Haq
3. Babar Azam
4. Haris Sohail
5. Sarfaraz
6. Hussain Talat
7. Shadab Khan
8. Zafar Gohar
9. Amir
10. Shaheen Afridi
11. Hasnain

<3 : )

Btw lets hope Sarfraz promotes himself in the next game. :/

Yes, this is a big issue.

Sarfaraz should definitely not be batting lower than five.

Hafeez should put his ego to one side and bat at six. Makes the team more balanced too.

Haris or Sarfaraz should bat at four or five depending on if spin is on or not.

Totally agree. Exactly what i was thinking.

How Important was Harris Sohail for Babar Azam

SA game, Babar was struggling with Haffez.. not fluent, taking pressure, historically, malik would come in, play a edgy innings, build pressure and get out and make Babar play stupid shot and get out

NZ game, again, after solid start, Babar was under pressure becz of the stupid innings that Haffez played ..

In both games, enter Harris Sohail, very composed, very clear headed very confident, played innings of the tournament for Pak vs SA and helped Babr pull out of the pressure... SA game, Babar lost his mind a little bit, but NZ game, he finished it and took as all the way

How important it will be for Babar to have Harris and another like him in the team who can take some pressure off him..and who can it be

That's what happens when you have another proper batsman alongside you rather than 'experienced' bits and pieces players.

According to Babar, He asked Haris on numerous occassions during the middle stages of the chase against NZ whether he should sweep Santner for a boundary. And each time Haris told him not to do it because it was too early to play any risky shots. In the end when Babar felt that he should start hitting now, he just backed himself and hit back to back 4s on sweep shots.
