Isn’t it 5 innings? I mean he’s played 35 innings. 5 more innings will take him to 40 innings. Hashim did it in 41 matches!

Not going to be easy unless he hits another century in the next match.

Has scored most of them playing on flat roads, no way deserves such a record as Amla Zaheer and Kevin were far superior after this many games than babar is right now

I think, he'll get there. For the first time in many, many years, probably since Z, PAK has put their best middle order at 3, so he'll get maximum time to bat. Looking at the NZ (& SAF) tracks, he should reach there comfortably. His Run/innings is better than 48.

Do you consider Abu Dhabi a flat road? If anything Amla has scored most of his runs on pancakes with 50 metres boundaries in SA.

youtube it his 80 odd in NZ in 2016 in one of odi if it did not convince you wait till nz series he will prove you

wrong.he is sort of player who loves to time the ball which uae is worse place for such a player he will further

improve INSHALLAH

What an exceptional run.

Another big score vs SL could make things quite interesting.

Hope he does. Hopefully Pakistan bat first in the final game and he gets a big score.

I would like to see him bat faster though.

Next odi series is in new zealand. Anzac tours have been tough for Pakistani batsmen post-Miandad. All these batsmen would be exposed on those pitches. New Zealand is'nt a great bowling side but they work on opposition teams with superb field placings. Looks difficult for Azam, he sucks outside Middle East. Not of the calibre of Amla, check his strike rate against 7th and 8th no. teams like Windies and Sri Lanka, even today he scored at mid 60s, selfish player does'nt deserve at all.

he has scored to good fifties in nz..dont worry he will score there.

Well we need to win the toss and bat first against Sri Lanka, they won't give you match of a chance to score a big ton if they bat first

average of 60 to get in the 4 matches, very doubtful - he will fall short by 1-2 games by 35-47 runs

babar scored fifty in NZ and also centuries in AUS and Windies, he just need to improve his strike rate and must finished the game till end.

:facepalm::facepalm:

Averages 61 in AUS/NZL at a strike rate of 86. Worth mentioning that at 21, he was literally in the embryonic stages of his career when he toured NZL for the first time.

Also, he was the difference between a loss and an easy chase in the last ODI, on a difficult batting pitch. Of course, someone who is just logging onto cricinfo and checking SRs wouldn't understand that.

Instead of posting uninformed vitriol, make an effort to actually watch matches so there is actual substance behind your conclusions. Cricket isn't played on laptops.

Should have taken a look at his record in NZ/AUS before you saying all this.

Hell, he arguably played his best innings vs NZ (83 in Auckland).

How many matches has Amla won for SAS when the game is on the line? I would prefer Babar to break some meaningful records.

so what? what will this record actually mean? next one will be fastest to 3000 then 4000 then 5000.

These records are so useless. Highest 5th wicket partnership against certain opposition at certain ground in certain weather conditions in the month of October in 2017.

It means that Babar is scoring more runs per innings than almost anyone else in history. More than Viv, Sachin, AB, etc.

So yes, it is quite a significant achievement especially if he keeps up his run-scoring rate and challenges Amla's record for the next several 1000 runs milestones.

Mushkil lag raha hai ab boss... Lanka was scoring minuscule scores. I hope in the next series Bobby gets more opportunity to score these runs.

Babar played well when we last toured NewZealand for LOIs. He will easily get there in his 38th innings .

I am not sure but it's quite possible that the management made an out of the box decision for once. Instead of persisting with the batting oder they sent faheem as no 3 so that Babar doesn't get to play an innings and still has a chance to crack the record.

It is a tough ask but if babar does want to be an extraordinary batsman he has to play extraordinary innings.

Probably has to do with the fact that Babar's carrying an injury.

Hopefully he can score big in these upcoming series against the big teams. That will elevate his status further.

He will be third fastest to 3000 K Runs in OD , and with every 1000 runs then on will keep falling, unless he makes big runs against quality oppositions.
