Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi return as Pakistan announce 16-man squad for Australia series

Dropping Wasim jnr for Naseem shah is not a fair selection.

Hasan Ali who made a great comeback was unfairly dropped and now nowhere to be seen... It is as such the PCB system..

Haris rauf dropped eventually from T20 which is a great achievement and that too under Aaqib Javed and Shaheen as ODI captain... Well done PCB.. He is the reason PAK lost to USA in last WT20..

Babar Azam smashed 6,4,6,1,4 against Shaheen Shah Afridi in a scenario based practice match.

Babar's run a ball runs costed Pakistan in WT20 2024.

By selecting him again and Hesson reiterating that he is selected for his run a ball skill set. Is the team being set up for a another disastrous batting campaign?

Mitchell Marsh's Presser:
Question: Mitch, everyone knows Babar Azam is a superstar of Pakistan, but his Big Bash season wasn’t good. Do you think Babar will be a challenge for Australia here in Pakistan, given it’s his home conditions? And also, who do you think will be the semifinalist teams other than Australia?

Mitchell Marsh: I’ve always got in trouble for answering that question, so I’ll just say hopefully Australia and leave it at that. As you said, Babar has been a world-class player for a long time. We have great respect for him, and we know that in these conditions he’s still one of the best players in the world. We look forward to that challenge.

Question: Which Pakistani player do you think is dangerous for Australia?

Mitchell Marsh: I don’t think I should name just one or two players. We know they’ve got some amazing cricketers—obviously Babar and Shaheen—but in these conditions it’s going to be a really good challenge, and that’s one we’re looking forward to.

Marsh defended that one with a straight bat.

Shadab and Shaheen done ...just waiting for Babar, more than likley he cant win you this game either . Pathetic selection ..

Mirza - Naseem and Nafay/FZ should have played in place of Shaheen - Babar

Shaheen is not the bowler he once was. While Pakistan finds a replacement, Naseem might be better as his bowling is way more disciplined.
Fakhar is a better bat than Babar. His T20 record is awful, but at least he has that intent, and in a T20 game, one-off innings take the game away from the opposition.
Drop Shadab and bring in Nafay as an extra batsman. If Abrar, Nawaz, and Tariq can't win you the game, trust me, Shadab will not, even in his dreams
