This is not a massive score and run rate should not be an issue here! Plain and simple its down to bangla to bat sensibly like Ireland/Holland did v england and they will win.
yeah.

This isn't Canada.

Bangladesh should chase this. England have only on real spin option in Swann, so if the pitch is good for spinners, they might suffer due to lack of spin options. Dunno why England didn't put in a proper back up spinner in case the pitch was good for spinners like Rashid or even Panesar. Both Tredwell and Yardy can't really make it into the team on spin alone.

Tamim's wicket is by far the most important one. Not only is he the best player, but the whole team's confidence seems to be negatively affected by his dismissal.

Can't believe England made Prior open yet again. Bell played a terrible innings today. There's always a chance of that happening with playing him at no.4. Collingwood is wasted at 7/8, no point of playing him as a slogger. Bopara's a better slogger than Collingwood.

The opener is very important. Like Tamim with Bangladesh. Having prior, a proven failure as an opener at ODI level isn't going to instill much confidence in this team.

Play Prior at 7. He's in there mainly for his keeping. We have to accept that now. There are better batsman in the team that aren't getting a chance because prior is up the order. Bell needs to open and Collingwood at 4.

Swann is turning into a valuable slogger down the order. Very reliable these days.

So it starts. Lights on, a bit cloudy and a difficult pitch to bat on.

The highest chase in this ground is 222/9. That says a lot.

Everything you said is fair. At the end of the day, the selectors made a mess of it, but some of the players haven't been good enough either.

I don't know anymore. Hopefully we can get as far as possible with this half-baked team, to avoid total humiliation, and then reassess back home. Might as well try and do well while we're here.

Bangladesh crashed to 58 all out against West Indies, and only managed 200 against Ireland. There's more than a chance for England if they want it enough.

Will England still qualify even if they lose against Bangladesh? West Indies are through i guess...

I have a feeling Bangladesh might collapse here. But they should really be able to chase this. England without broad, playing a longer batting attack, only one real spin option (even Yardy if he were playing isn't a spinner that can take full advantage of conditions). 225 is a low score in this world cup. Very hard to defend.

Still this batting order isn't right, and I think England will run into trouble at some stage if they don't change it. They could get away with it today though.

England's two real match winners (in terms of batsmen) for me are Morgan and Collingwood (even though Strauss has got the most runs). These batsmen have been the foundation for so many England wins. If either scores big, England usually win. They also usually hold the middle order together for some reason (especially Collingwood). England need to show faith in Collingwood, otherwise there was no point picking him. He is an innings builder. Not going to get that at 7. He's bound not to perform at 7.

My main problem isn't with Bell or Prior strangely enough. It's Collingwood. I think playing him at 7 is a total waste.

Shehzad bowling with weight of world on his shoulders, he knows if he messes up he won't get another 100 chances like Anderson.

Shahzad has been overrated so far, he hasn't actually done a heck of a lot in an England shirt. Chance for him to prove himself today.

Dunno why Shehzad's playing anyway. Would have played Tremlett instead.

Shehzad did well the last match he played so was given another opportunity, if he fails Tremlett will probably take over next game.

Bopara lets one through on the boundary...poor stuff, but Anderson has no right to look miffed, that was a pie.

Records are mean to be broken, given that England bowling attack looks one dimensional with only one spinner.

Bangladesh needs one good partnership.

Shahzad bowled just as harmlessly as everyone else against India. England's only good bowler in that game was Bresnan. Everyone has to be careful now, with the superb Tremlett in the squad.

Not a fan of this Imrul Kayes. Whenever see him play, he always looks like a back up for Tamim. Never really a match winner. If tamim is doing well, instead of supporting him, he seems to take a back seat. Just as he's doing now. You don't need an anchor when you're opening.

This is a myth, no such policy exists. Cronyism is however in force.

like I said, Shahzad is likeable but regularly struggles to do the bare minimum to justify his selection...if he had been a consistently decent bowler for us I'd totally be with you, because Anderson is rubbish as well

Bangladesh are playing brilliantly here.

erm, they're playing alright. meeting the required run rate in the opening powerplay due to rubbish bowling. nothing special there.

I think all Tamim has to do is strike at more than a 100 S/R and cricinfo will change the heading to "Tamim leads bright start/Blazes away" :p

Man, England are feeding Bengalis on the legside

mate they are still playing well though.

For a much lower ranked team with lots of pressure, it still takes a lot to go out there and score like they're doing (more so Tamim than Kayes). While the bowling hasn't been great, there's been a few good balls among the muck too.

looks like the first 15 overs of our batting could have cost us this game.

boom boom afridi, no one is bigger six hitter than Shahid Afridi, never say boom boom, its Afridi nick name... don't copy bangalis...

180 more to get. Just need to play sensible cricket - they've gotten off to a flier. Don't waste this chance

England have had a lot of luck in this tournament really. lucky to draw against India with Bell not being given out (and somehow the tailenders bailing them out). Would have lost to South Africa if South Africa didn't choke under pressure. Now look as if they might loose to bangladesh.

English fans have got to count they're lucky stars that they're still in it. England's ODI bowling is one of the best in the world. It certainly hasn't looked anywhere near the standard they're capable of.

One thing is sure, bengalis will play attacking cricket.

that's a disappointing comment from you. you make your own luck in sport. England played well with the bat v India and the ball v SA.

dew is going to do us in here.

they said that against SA, and he delivered. everything can still change.
I said if Swann doesn't perform well. There's a good chance I think he will :D

But it does seem a lot rests on his shoulders again.

A bangla win today and england Will have to beat W.I in their last game.
