Death of Test Cricket in BD.

Bowlers have no chance here

It's quite the opposite buddy.

'Birth of Test cricket'

'A draw is far better than a lose' We have been losing ever since we got our status, so a draw seems like a victory :farhat

Just look at our win/ loss ratio, one step at a time

Before we used to lose, now draw then win. :dav

Tamim: "Mominul now has 538 runs in 5 matches with an average of 76. Just a fun note, at this stage of the career, even Sir Don Bradman had 476 runs! We Bangladeshi feel proud now"

:P

I don't think the pitch is flat. there is turn, bounce and also a bit for pace bowlers. NZ have bowled poorly

If Bangladesh would have lost these matches, would test cricket then be alive? To keep test cricket alive we need crowds coming in....look at the crowds... even some ODI matches in other countries don't have the crowds that come to watch Bangladesh play in Bangladesh.

Also, to expect Bangladesh to go from losing matches with innings to winning test matches -- is stupid honestly. Lets take it one step at a time. The pitches were always good to bat on, we just never had players who would take their time and take advantage of the pitch. We are getting there. We are still not a force to reckon with, but neither are we push overs.

We could still lose this match, but we shave shown we can fight and challenge too. Of course to improve regularly, we need to play test matches regularly and that isn't happening.

Let the ICC keep giving Bangladesh number of test matches in a year < number of fingers in one of your hand and expect us to improve leaps and bounds.

A gem of a comment from cricinfo below

Jon: "Can someone who knows Bangladesh cricket better thqan me, please explain what the Bangladesh selectors see in Rubel Hossain? Purely from his figures (First class average of 64 and going at 4 an over), i struggle to see the logic."

He has already played 17 Test matches.

17 overs left , it will be interesting what is the situation by stumps. Kiwis would look couple more wickets . lead of BD is only 57 now.

They replaced Shahadat with Rubel.

All in the name of "pace". Not like we have reserves of pacers either....its filled with SLAs.

Runs would be significant here , BD must remain positive. A lead of 110 by stumps would make it tough for Kiwis to push for a win.

I would pick Nazmul hossain, he doesn't have pace but he has swing but selectors being bais won't select him, look at his averages compare it to other pacers we have. He has been treated unfairly. I would pick Nazmul, Shahadat - he's better than Rubel.

Not much point in Boult and Bracewell bowling here. There is nothing in the pitch for seam bowlers.

Its slow and low. Some turn though.

Lead of 114 with 7 wickets and a day remaining.

Draw it looks, but well who knows.

Nz bowling had been ordinary. Lack of a quality spinner us hurting them.

the pitch has a lot of turn and bounce for the spinners.

We should bat out day 5 and not let the Kiwis bat, our batsmen need practice before the ODI series. Mominul should look to break Lara's record :inti

Bracewell and Boult are as good as Rubel Hossain on our pitch. Only the protea troubled us Wagner :kallis

Whats the weather forecast for tomorrow?

If no rain, would 270/280 be a fair target for NZ ?

apart from Shakib your spinners looked pretty ordinary too or did you forget that?

BD fans are hilarious. One good session and they are the number one team in the world.

Lets try another 150+ score instead of laras record for now..... for him to join Mushfiqur and reach 200 will be a big milestone.

Rubel and Shafiul were under you but i haven't seen any improvement whatsoever in them. Rubel averages 74.88, and I can't recall any match winning spell produced by him while under you. Shafiul on the other hand has been expensive all the time and his match winning performances were always against minnows in ODI's.

None of our pacers showed any maturity nor skills at Test level. The words which came from you were indeed encouraging and motivating but unfortunately during your regime the result was Nil. I am not deluded like the rest of the fans in other forum, just calling a spade a spade.

If we look at Al Amin, Abul Hasan the newcomers, they haven't bowled a single over that troubled even a tailender. Yes we don't have a academy for pacers but did we have an academy for batsmen? We are producing consistent performers in Monimul, Nasir etc but no pacers whatsoever.

Mashrafee we all know about his case, he gets injured after playing a match or two, he wasn't anything special in Test. Even Jason Gilespie scored a double ton against him. Not disrespecting you Coach just sharing my opinion.

It's clear you don't understand then what happened in BD during my time there. Let me leave it to the independent CricInfo report on my time with the team to explain http://www.espncricinfo.com/bangladesh/content/story/508726.html

"Under Pont's tutelage, Bangladesh's bowling improved as they won seven out of eight ODIs at the end of 2010. The team had a chance to qualify for the quarter-finals of the World Cup after beating England, but the batting crumbled in crucial games against West Indies and South Africa.

The bowlers had a better tournament, with Shafiul Islam in particular impressing in the games against Associate sides Ireland and Netherlands. "We have been successful in parts but in the past six months we simply haven't been able to do many of the basics right to be consistent," Pont said. "That said we have still won 10 of our last 14 ODIs. I think most countries and most coaches around the world would be happy with that record."
- CricInfo

I appreciate everyone has an opinion, but you really have to know cricket to realise what improvement involves. When you take charge of a bowling department (not just the pacers, bhai) that has lost 27 out of 29 matches, my tenure was a dramatic improvement. The bowlers performed at key times to win those matches. You don't see that in an average.

Finally, I wasn't there for any Test series so I can't comment on how they perform at Test level. My role was to deliver wins in ODI's, nothing else. Based on THAT, 10 wins from 14 is a success after 27 losses from 29.

Gotta love a troll though ;)

Looks like a draw which is a fair result anyway. New Zealand obviously underestimated Bangladesh again and clearly disappointed considering they were playing the worst test team ever and they most of the time loses within 3 days and by an innings according to the stats anyway.

Bangladesh are clearly the happy ones and clearly their best year in tests - 6 matches - 1 win - 2 draws and 2 losses (none by an innings).

The ODI series will be a mouth-watering belter. I think Bangladesh will win 3-0 and New Zealand will win the sole T20 game.
