Test matches these days played on such poor surfaces that kills discussions. By the way many people do ask for updates , I think the live streams also not working properly these days :(

yes but people can search score on cricinfo and google..

Before the game BD captain was talking about sporting pitches , but still this pitch is tailor made for draw.

Both these batsmen look settled , they will look to bat long here, lots of time left in the game.

56 overs left in the day , Lanka can easily bat at least another 40 , and then have a crack at BD batters , they would be tired by that time.

BD themselves are to blame here. Such a batting pitch and they threw away wickets just like :afridi

36 overs to go , I have a feeling Lanka would like to have a crack tonight with new cherry , they will like to get at least one down here

Mahela has successfully passed Allan Border's Test tally of 11174 runs. Congratulations to the Sri Lankan middle-order bat

:hamster:

This is not test cricket. It is called Test cricket but its not.

These guys have no business even being here in this format. Big Three should kick them out and get Ireland in.

If I were SL I would go for 1,000, there's still enough time to force result as well.

Doubt it, you'll probably poach the good players. And cricket just isn't big in Ireland, at least Bangladesh gets big fan support.

If Eng stop poaching Irish players than there is a chance of competitive Irish team but it looks like things will get worse for Ireland as English Phassst bowlers seems to be inspired by Indians these days.

Big 3?

The 5-0 hammering and yet such arrogance.

SL were pumped up after the defeat against Pakistan and they took out their anger on Bangladesh :91:

I hope rain saves Bangladesh

srilanka destroyed bangladesh. 730 runs and already a wicket.

Like I said, this team isn't even close. To compare them to Pakistan is ludicrous.

They have always been a young team which when came of age never became anything.

Tamim Iqbal has been playing cricket for what 7-8 years? I have been following him since highschool and he is still as immature and lacking in all facets

One way traffic in this Test. I predicted beforehand that SL would score 1000. They probably could've but batted too slow.

I've been following BD cricket for years. I signed up to the BD cricket forum in 2005 to try to better understand BD fans and how passionate they follow their cricket. Their cricket board has failed them. Inability to further develop players like Tamim, Shakib, Ashraful (faded without a trace) in the longer form of the game. Once players get to the national team they stop developing. Lack of a competitive first class setup at home.

This is a perfect example of a board and a country and a team that should be doing better. Now if BD were at threat of being relegated and losing their Test status, do you think that would be an incentive to perform better?

I see your perspective but at the same time, one cannot lump all the teams minus the big 3 in one category. England atm don't even look like a top 5 team and India has been getting hazed of late. It really just shows you there is parity in the sport. Afghanistan and NZ seem to really be taking those next steps. You're lumping the ineptitude of BD to all other teams who are actually growing.

BD is one side of the coin, but there are others who are starting to grow.

I say let's just wait and see what happens with this proposal before making any final judgement. For all we know the principles we are all against won't even make the final product and the only real difference will be the distribution of revenue sharing.

And those teams that are growing should be given the opportunity to push for Test status in my opinion. That's what promotion and relegation is all about. It makes every team (including those in the Big 3) accountable for their performances.

Let's hope that's the case. If performance=test status, I am all for it. Teams know they cannot sit on their hands and make money any more, so a new domestic structure to actually hone their talent would be good. There are obviously some positives to the proposal which have been approved by the lesser boards, it is the skewing of money and power in one direction that is my issue.

The huge disparity in the quality of the teams involved in this test provides further support for having two tiers in test cricket. Teams like Ireland and Afghanistan aren't too far away in terms of talent from Bangladesh. They are as deserving as Bangladesh of test status and should be playing each other more often.

BD is in great hurry to score 700 runs and set a 200+ target for SL, lol.

Bangladesh trail by 348 runs with 4 wickets remaining

That is lunch .......

It looks as if we will have result before Tea :P

Bangladesh doing their best to convince everyone that they deserve to maintain their Test status...not. Seized the moment and all that. Then again everyone can have a bad 5 days I suppose (or 4 in this case).
