You only won the 2006 world cup because we weren't there to face you in the finals. LOL! Otherwise we would've thrashed you like we did in the group stages.

Why weren’t you in the final in the first place?;-)
But you finished 5th place anyway:)

If you must know we lost to England U-19s in the second round a team we beat 5-0 before coming to the world cup.

bdchamp20,

In all seriousness, I understand that you're excited about your team and the potential it has. But the bare facts are that:

Bangladesh has won one Test match - against a Zimbabwe side that wouldn't make it in Australian club cricket

Bangladesh has won two ODIs against India and one each against us, Australia, South Africa and Sri Lanka.

That's FIVE ODI victories in 22 years of playing cricket. Bear in mind we have won 13 games out of 14 in 2008 alone.

Bangladesh are pathetic at cricket. They may or may not get better in the future, but given their current record, for you to gloat or criticize Nasir or Afridi or anyone is just not on.

haven't 11 of those 13 wins come against us and an even worser zimbabwe side???

OK, so we've beaten India and South Africa FIVE times since last OCTOBER. I.e. in eight months we've matched the total number of wins you lot have managed against major teams in 22 years.

Clear now?

You are just telling me records that I already know and its not me thats excited about our talent its the whole world. Even Waqar Younis today was singing praises about our players' potentials along with other international commentators. And I do realise that we were pretty pathetic before but thats because we never had any genuine talent in our previous teams, we did have hard-workers like Habibul Bashar, Mohammad Rafique, Javed Omar and Khaled Mashud but they were not talented. Any country would find it hard to unearth talent if it was at that time dominated by football and hockey and half the population didnt evn know how to play cricket. Infact two of our captains, Aminul Islam and Habibul Bashar were footballers in their early days injury forced them to take up cricket. But that is changing nowadays cricket is the most popular sport in cities and is at par with football in the villages. BCB is investing on school cricket and as a result we have unearthed genuine talent. The likes of Mushfiqur Rahim, Shahadat Hossain, Junaid Siddique, Raqibul Hasan, Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal are the real deal and I am sure they will turn into world-class cricketers as they develop and mature and match and even exceed players of other nations. And Bangladesh will turn into a top side, its only a matter of time.

^ sheesh calm down mate. From what i have seen Tamim is the only one with any potential.Masrafe is a decent all-rounder.But others wouldn't even be able to make it into 2nd XI of the top 5-6 teams atm.

Well it doesn't sound to me as if though you follow Bangladesh cricket closely. Anyone who's seen Mushfiq, Raqib and Junaid at their best can say that they are better than Tamim. What you say about the players not being able to break into the top 6 teams is probably true but it doesn't matter because all the players mentioned above are only 19-21 and have ample of time to pick up their game so I'm not worried. As for now I can only suggest you watch some clips to from YouTube

true, but our players have a long history of being the best 20 year olds in the world, or among the best. and then never developing beyond that.

but hopefully raqibul will buck the trend, and tamim has started bucking it along with sakib and hopefully a couple others.

why we are taking on each others, there is no shame to admit that we bd still sucks, needs more 10-15 years to cope at this stage. Pakistan, Ind and Srilanka are miles miles away from Bd at their cricket level currently. We may have talents but they are limited with our own cricket level, so there is no point to compare them with other nations talents which of them are more skilfull then ours thats what I see in reality.

Exactly! This is what i am trying to get in bdchamp20 mind...... that your current team is pathetic.... there is no need to compare it with pakistan... or with any other country.... maybe after 10-15yrs.... bd gets better and than we can talk abt them..... but for now.... just forget about it... no point in arguing.....

we fans are blind, sometime we don't see the reality, everyone wants to see their own team as the best in the world despite the real fact, lose or win we always tend see our players are the best in the world, thats what we fans are always :) No fan likes criticism of their own players or team and thats very much fact too.

BCB has to invest very big in regional cricket in Bangladesh and not just play in Dakha the capital, make sure there 4 day game is improving, other wise even in 10-15 years it will be same krap.
make sure the other region stadium are getting better.
