Athat reminds me Harsha when he started off his commentary career. His too apparent school boy crush on Tendulkar meant there was lots of anguish for him. This was an era when Pakistan was winning more regularly vs. India. Times have changed of course, now to add a veneer of sophistication.

Thank god for Aamer Sohail, he has made this series watchable for us
He is one honest commentator who calls a spade a spade... may not be politically correct all the time but does have an in depth knowledge of the game. Wish he wd hv taken up coaching after his retirement. He to me appears the only cricket from Pakistan who talks sense after great imran khan.

I am sure the combined height of these 2 batsmen won't be greater than Mohammad Irfan....

2 chhote beam playing.....

Completely agree.

Should get them bowled out below 200, these players were riding too high and Mushfiq especially was talking big, thanks for bringing him back to earth. :ahmed

Lol shamim choudhry on Aamer sohails comment on a good a position to win the series not the match lol.

Meanwhile Mominul goes past 50 or more for the 11th consecutive time in a test match!

This is some feat! Just to put things into perspective since his debut including this one he has played 14 tests and in 13 of them he has scored at least a fifty or more. The only test he hasn't made a fifty on he made 23 and 29.

Incredible consistency from the little man!!

This match should reduce confidence of these boys, now they wont be able to beat India

The best of this series has been the commentary oh god its amazing comedy Pakistan vs Bangladesh 1971 war going on in the comm box.

The funniest part is Amir Sohail is the lone man....and he's the only one who sees things through a neutral perspective

You know, despite all the annoying commentary, i have a lot of newfound respect for Bangladesh cricket. You get the feeling that they are all in it together: from commentator to groundsman. Some people might not like this jingoism, but I think Bangladesh is on the verge of something special in general. They have a newfound confidence; their batsmen are positive, their bowlers are efficient. They have the ingredients to ensure success in the shorter format. I love how the crowds have turned up for test cricket every day. It was a nation starved for success and yes when you get sometimes, it takes a little time to get used to wearing the crown. Generations ago, Imran Khan and Ranatunga had similar issues with the cricketing fraternity in general: lots of well meaning people who were often unwilling to give the respect that their teams deserved because of their achievements. It took time for that patronizing tone to disappear.
Did I mention the crowds? Once more, it takes a lot of courage to fill up stadiums if your team is historically a poor traveller and is just about finding the formula for home success especially in loi's (I believe they have beaten nz and windies at home as well). It means the BCB is doing a good job in whipping up enthusiasm for the game. Very good tour for Banglaedsh and another stepping stone for credibility.

Very nice to read bro. Yeah I really hope we get play more tests and a lot more tests overseas. Our ODI team is pretty decent now but we still have a long way to go in tests. Shakib for example hadn't played a longer version game in 15 months which is crazy. We need more tours to places like Australia, England to get exposure.

There is so much fun watching a leg spinner bowl , even if he is a rubbish one. (not saying that yasir is rubbish)

Soon. It's took a thrashing in a one-off test at headingly in 1998 for English cricket to understand and respect the talent of jayasuriya and muralidaran and Sri Lanka cricket in general. I believe Australia is coming for a short tour to Bangladesh this year or next.

No doubt bangladesh has improved leaps and bounds in last year or so but they still have a long way to go. It's heartening to see them become competitive at home which is the first step towards becoming a successful team but to become a respectable test team they have to deliver out side their comfort zone. The batting has a lot of potential and can only get better with time however their bowling has been the achiles heels for them and they have to improve on this aspect of the game. having said that, they have the necessary ingredients in Taskin and Co. so I think bangladesh can only improve from here if they are able to manage their resources well.

Imran taking 2 wickets is good news for him but bad for Pakistan. We need to get rid of him as soon as possible.

And why so ??? Who wd you replace him with under the circumstances? ??

I prefer Adil to him, although he isn't of much use in these conditions, he still has more upside.

Gul. Rather have original than made in China.
Common the guy has done just enough to stay in the team. I think on Lankan pitches which offer some movement early on to fast bowlers and reverse swing later on, he shd come good.

Lol I don't mind him, but he's even copied the way Gul walks back to the mark. Just eery thats all. :-P

Does that have any thing to do with his performance on the field ? The answer is obviously no. So why is every body here on pp criticising him for modelling his bowling on gul. And btw omar gul is well past his prime as far as test cricket is concerned...

I guess out if all the bowlers we've had, why would any one copy Gul?? It's like trying to be the next Hafeez.

Lol probably because out if all the bowlers we've had in the past, Gul would be the last bowler id expect to be a role model. If he'd modeled him self on Imran Khan Snr, then i dunoo, maybe id have more hope . But Guls action to begin with limited him in many ways.

Many ways like ??

In first innings junaid khan just bowled 6 overs and in this innings 9 overs :/

Many ways like ??
He had a high arm action, and kept the seam upright. He had too stiff a wrist, wasn't the greatest with the new ball. Was more a seam baller than swing baller.
Not saying Gul was a bad bowler, but it was easy to tell from the get go he would never have the pace of a side on action, like Waqar, Shoaib, nor did he have the Wasim's quick arm.
And again, Imran is all right, but i still see more potential in someone like Rahat ali, who reminds me more of the bowlers we've had in the past.

I am sorry to disappoint you but I think omar gul has one of the finest actions in world cricket as a result he was able to get more from himself when at the peak of his game with his action. Out of all the Pakistani bowlers(right arm) omar gul more often than used to hv the wrist behind the seam hence he was able to move the new balk too . It's just that he didn't have the control on the new ball like Aasif had hence he always struggled with the new ball and btw that's always been our problem. We haven't produced even a single new ball bowler post imran khan senior era expect for Aasif. So I think it hardly matters who IK would have modelled his action on, he by and large would have been the same bowler...

I think he probably knows where he stands in bowling line up. He is a replacement bowler.
He is filling in for Rahat. Although, had we won the first match, Ehsan Adil should have played with a view to the future. Not sure if he is part of the squad.

I've always felt rounder arm actions and more side on actions produce more swing than front on actions.
We had Wasim btw post Imran, but either way we may have to agree to disagree; I've always felt Gul was a step down from the Wasim's, Waqar's, Shoaib's, Amirs and Asifs. (Asif was next level, I have no idea how he did what he did, guy was a magician on his comeback) .
Apart from Asif, all the above had either side on, and/or flexible wrists. I saw Gul more as a hit the deck hard sort of bowler.

junaid is finished INMHO. yesterday, I was watching him bowl in a match against zim in2013 and he used to be a lot quicker. Either he is finished in th knees or needs a long bowl in the domestics to get back in rhythm

Imran Khan Snr actually remodeled his action to become more side on, during his Oxford days. Helped him with his pace and outswing. Rare instance of a player completely remodeling his/her bowling action.
