Best players of spin in LOIs at present

In Tests, everyone knows that Younis Khan, Misbah, Kohli, Pujara, Mathews, Smith, Williamson, Root, Darren Bravo, De Villiers are the best players of spin in the world at the moment. Amla and Cook have been in lean patch for quite a while now. Mushfiqur and Shakib are pretty good as well.

When it comes to LOI's, playing spin is a different art altogether as you have to keep rotating the strike consistently and whack a few unlike in Tests where you only need good defense to survive.

In 3rd Odi against WI, Shoaib Malik appeared to be at his best playing spin, perfectly reading the turn and kept placing the ball in the gaps consistently while even hitting good balls to the boundary as well.

I have seen Kohli do it for India consistently, Smith and Williamson play it very well. Even Ross Taylor and Guptill play it beautifully when it comes to LOI's.


Who do you think are the best players of spin in LOI's these days?

I think Malik is slightly better than Sarfraz as he can hit sixes a lot more but Sarfraz is ridiculously good at pushing the ball and running hard for 2s and 3s which is why his SR is always up there too.

These two should be playing in the middle overs which is why I get so infuriated when someone like Hafeez is busy playing a slew of dots at, for example, 130/2 in 25 overs.

yes exactly. these 2 should play the maximum overs against spin.

I personally feel our odi batting wont be that bad once Haris and Sharjeel (if he is innocent and coming back soon) are back as Haris and Babar are our best players against fast bowling and Sharjeel is the hitter you need at the top.

Then remains the finisher / lower order hitter and for that Hussain/Umar Siddiq , Shadab and Imad are the ones I see. They wont be hitter like Dhoni but can be our finisher who can absorb pressure and score valuable runs in the later part of the innings.

Kohli is very good against spin in ODIs. Doesn't have to worry about sharp turn, unlike in a test series, and can keep milking them for days. Haven't seen any spinner get on top of him in LOIs, although he wasn't really tested against the best LOI spinner since Saqi and Murali, Saeed Ajmal.

ABD is right up there too and on his day, no one destroys spin like he does. Has all the shots in the book and the patience as well to see out a difficult phase in the match. Not seen many dismissals against spin for him either.

England: the ridiculously underrated Mo Ali, maybe Root but I always feel more confident with Ali
India: Kohli
Australia: ....
SA: Amla, Faf has improved a lot, AB when he gets going

Can't comment too much on the other teams as I think they lack real world class players of spin.
