Daniel Dubois knocks out American Trevor Bryan to win WBA 'regular' heavyweight title

Britain's Daniel Dubois won the WBA "regular" heavyweight title in Miami on Saturday with a stunning knockout victory against American Trevor Bryan.

Dubois, 24, claimed the 18th win of his career in impressive fashion, flooring his opponent in the fourth round.

Victory means Dubois edges closer to a shot at a major heavyweight title.

He is now the mandatory challenger to the winner of Anthony Joshua's rematch with Oleksandr Usyk, which is due to take place later this summer.

"Now I can make some massive fights in the future," Dubois said. "I am so grateful for this moment.

"Bring them all on, I am ready."

Dubois will look forward to some bigger fights in the future with this win coming in somewhat unusual surroundings.

Only around 500 spectators were in attendance at the Casino Miami, but nevertheless Dubois' focus was solely on getting the job done and he dominated from the outset.

Bryan, 32, offered nothing in the opening round as Dubois tested his range with a couple of jabs and the British fighter soon stepped up a gear, unloading a flurry of punches to the head and the body in the third round.

A powerful punch then had Bryan wobbling in the fourth round and Dubois took that as an invitation to finish the fight off, sending his opponent to the canvas with a fierce left-hook.

Seventeen of Dubois' 18 wins have now come by knockout.

"I was just trying to figure him out in the first round," Dubois added on BT Sport. "I wanted to see what he had, I tested the chin and then went for it.

"It was a perfect ending and I am so happy. I think this will make me instantly a better fighter already."

Dubiois has a good future if he can stay fit and smart in the ring. Joe gave him a beating but good comeback tonight. I think a fight with Hughie Fury makes sense next and then winner should get a title shot.

Artur Beterbiev v Joe Smith Jr this Saturday night will be a great fight.

Any boxing fans who have not heard of Artur Beterbiev, must check him out. Two title LH champion.

17-0 with 17 KO wins! This man is not human, a beast who can hit so hard he will break bones.

He would have beaten Canelo had Bivol not got there first. Fantastic fight, this is going to be a good old fashioned wild wild west shoot out.

Boxing has been on a massive role lately we’ve had so many excellent contests already among the very best in each division. We’ve had two undisputed champions crowned this year in the 4 belt era it’s a rare thing, I value who tends to hold the RING title and balance that with the TRBR ranking who keep a close eye on historic lineage

Dubois is still young, Joe caught him off guard by utilising his natural boxing ability, many felt it would be closer based on Joe going head hunting in his previous outings. Dubois is one fine talent and hopefully will get even better with experience

KingKhanWC did you watch the first Inoue / Donaire fight and the rematch, my god Inoue is special, he has been crowned P4P no.1 and while that can be argued to an extent, he’s easily the most exciting to watch among the top 3, text book style,l but with freakish power and a great IQ, he is very clinical and such a ruthless finisher

I agree! When Beterbiev fought Marcus Browne he sustained a horrendous cut from an accidental clash of heads. When the ref gave him one more round, he went beast mode and destroyed Browne to ensure victory.

The HW division could be better but others are doing great.

Last week it was also a masterclass in boxing when Devin Haney schooled George Kambosos.

No I need to catch up on this one bro! Inoue is a physical alien, his work rate and timing are second to none. Looking forward to catching the full fight this weekend!

Super-middleweight Edgar Berlanga has been suspended for six months and fined $10,000 for attempting to bite opponent Roamer Alexis Angulo during their bout earlier this month, according to reports.

The New York State Athletic Commission applied the punishments following the fight at Madison Square Garden on June 11 which Berlanga won via unanimous decision.

Light-heavyweight world champion Artur Beterbiev knocked out American rival Joe Smith Jr inside two rounds to add the WBO title to his WBC and IBF belts.

The unbeaten Canada-based Russian scored three knockdowns before the fight was stopped with just over 40 seconds of round two left.

The win sees Beterbiev, 37, improve his record to 18-0 - all by knockout.

"Joe is a little bit open, and it was more easy for me to get him," he said.

Beterbiev is now focusing his attention on the prospect of a unification fight with Russia's WBA champion Dmitry Bivol for the undisputed light-heavyweight crown, although Britain's Anthony Yarde is another possible opponent.

"I've had two unification fights and unification fights are more interesting," he added.

"I prefer to unify. I want to be undisputed."

Reports said Smith, 32, who had started well but was quickly overwhelmed by his opponent, was taken to hospital immediately after the bout.

He had a standing count at the end of round one and after barely withstanding a flurry of vicious shots from Beterbiev at the start of the second round, there was no way back and referee Harvey Dock had no option but to end it.

Oh my god, that was beautiful and so brutal. I did not expect it to be so quick, but Beterbiev was incredible. Massive props to Joe Smith Jnr he’s a good bloke and have loved watching him fight, but his style and courage is just too much for the multi-skilled Beterbiev. Joe and team made know adjustments, he kept falling over his punches and was countered repeatedly. Beterbiev gets judged as a guy with freakish power only but you don’t get to enter the Olympics twice without sound fundamentals, his team worked a great deal on speed, from the feet and hands, he wasn’t even loading up on his punches which is the scariest thing but he was happy to give that up a little for more accuracy. I was full of praise for Inoue’s destruction of Donaire but this is clearly performance of the year so far, three belts on the line, Joe in his peak as champion with great wins under his belt and had never been done but gets stopped with ease.

The super fight to make now would be Beterbiev v Bivol, but am not sure Bivol and co will want it, Anthony Yarde is WBO mandatory and I fully expect him to take his shot, we could be in for a treat here in the UK! KingKhanWC

I thought Joe Smith started off round 1 well, keeping him at distance but once he felt the power of Beterbiev esp the bodyshots, he finally realised exactly what he was up against. Beterbiev seems to have lead in hands, no opponent has been able to withstand the shots! We all expected this to last longer but in the 2nd Beterbiev knew his opponent couldnt handle his counters, was hurt and there for the taking. Great performance confirming his P4P top spot now imo. I think he has overtaken Canelo and Crawford who hasnt fought as much recently. Also when a boxer is 18-0 all not going the distance this is a freak, not normal esp in a stacked division such as LH.

For me it has to be Bivol. Beterbiev deserves the chance to unify the division and become one of the GOAT LH in history. I think Yarde's team esp Frank Warren thought lets force some sort of step aside settlement but Beterbiev is in no hurry, so will happily travel to London to fight Yarde. I would love to watch this one live, to have the chance to see Beterbiev live but I think it could be another quick finish, not going beyond rounds 4-5.

Olympic Games: IOC yet to decide if boxing will be included at Los Angeles 2028

The International Olympic Committee says it is yet to decide if boxing will be at the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

Boxing was not in an initial programme for the 2028 Olympics, but could be added if it addresses ethical concerns.

Following a meeting of the IOC's executive board, the federation said the sport's inclusion would be "discussed at a later stage".

An independent investigation said the sport needed to take action on ethical issues to secure its Olympic future.

A report shared on Monday found a "historical culture of bout manipulation", including at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

After Friday's meeting, the IOC said: "Whether or not boxing will be included on the sports programme of the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 will be discussed at a later stage."

The IOC said that global governing body the International Boxing Association would not be allowed to run the boxing competition at Paris 2024 or qualifiers for those games - a repeat of a similar decision taken before the Tokyo Games.

"The decision is centred on the athletes and the need to provide certainty on the Olympic competitions and qualifications leading to Paris 2024," a statement said.

"It follows the continuing and very concerning issues of the IBA, such as its governance and its refereeing and judging system."

Deontay Wilder: American heavyweight 'considering' return to boxing

Former heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder is 'considering' a return to boxing.

Wilder, 36, has not fought since his knockout defeat by Briton Tyson Fury in October last year.

That was his second loss in a row, but the American says he is not yet officially retired.

"I'm definitely considering coming back," he told Premier Boxing Champions.

"This is something that we're trying to figure out and get things situated. I feel [it could be] a re-boost for my career."

Wilder was undefeated and held the WBC world title before his epic trilogy against Fury, but suffered two knockout defeats by the Gypsy King after a draw in their first fight.

The heavyweight rivalry captivated the boxing world and earned Wilder millions of pounds, and he insisted if he was to return to the ring money would not be the motivation.

"It's not about the financial things, I never have to return to boxing ever again in my life. I've set my life up," he said.

Fury, who retired after beating Dillian Whyte in April, is the only fighter to defeat Wilder.

The 'Bronze Bomber' has 42 wins in his career, with 41 of those coming via knockout.

tuned into see the azim fight, dylan cheema doesnt look particularly impressive, boxxer and ben shalom was pbly hoping for a pak v ind fight someway down the line, but doubt it'll happen. azim, up till last time i saw him at least seemed a higher league.

BREAKING! Adam Azim beats Anthony Loffet in the first round after the Belgian's corner threw in the towel.

Impressive.

This boy's a lion. IsA he carries this trajectory. I'd avoid cheema for a while as it'll have Brook vibes and might be an unnecessary roadblock

Adam Azim looked really good tonight. Great hand speed with him having a lot of potential inshaallah will do well.

Looked in a different league to Cheema but would be a super fight if it ever happens.

Good win for Adam. He is very raw but so young with amazing speed.

Adam has a lot of work to do but certainly has the talent to one day become World Champion but imo this will take another 3 years at the least.

His brother Hassan also is very talented.

Best of luck to both, hope they do the Brits and British Pakistanis proud and reach the top.

adam looks so good but that fight was an anti climax.

gonna be tough to find opponents for him, will pbly be risky cos I'm pretty sure he'll have to fight some of the top domestic fighters sooner rather than later, rather than being able to slowly build up.

should fight soon, hes barely fought 10 competitive minutes this year.

Amir Khan has called for Adam Azim to fight Dylan Cheema after his stunning 66-second stoppage victory over Anthony Loffet on Saturday night.

Azim, one of the most impressive prospects in British boxing, is making rapid strides and scored another highlight-reel finish in Coventry this weekend.

He's looking to follow in Khan's footsteps and Khan himself has identified another rising boxer, Dylan Cheema, for Azim to fight. Cheema boxed on the same bill at the same weight as Azim at the Skydome Arena and Khan wants to see the two go head to head in an exciting domestic showdown.

"You need to find [Azim's] next opponent. Who are you going to find for him? That's the hard thing because he's knocking everyone out. He's blasting everyone that gets put in front of him," Khan told Sky Sports.

"Maybe the Cheema fight is a good one for him. I think that would be a massive one. He's sparring against the top guys like Conor Benn, Joe Cordina, he's done well against them I hear. He's very special. He will go far."

"I would love that fight," Azim responded. "I love that fight. If Cheema wants it, he can have it, it's up to him. I know that he wants to go his own road. Well done to him but I would love that fight obviously, I don't mind Cheema."

Khan has high expectations for Azim's future, saying, "I think in a couple of years' time he could be one of the youngest world champions coming out of Britain."

"I won a world title at 22, I think he can do it at maybe 20, 21. Let's see you never know," Khan continued.

"When I went to see him in the changing room, he was so relaxed and chilled out. Not many [young prospects] hit that hard, move that quick and have that speed. He's got so much confidence, he's got the speed, he's got the power, he's got everything that a fighter needs. He's only had five fights, back-to-back knockouts. He's very special."

Josh Taylor says he is sticking around at light welterweight for two reasons - to fight Jose Zepeda and to renew rivalry with Jack Catterall, the latter of whom he has vowed to "shut up" if he gets the rematch he wants.

Joe Joyce eased to a comfortable victory in his first fight in almost a year to maintain his unbeaten record.

The British heavyweight, 36, forced Christian Hammer to drop to a knee at the end of the third round in London.

Germany's Hammer had to take a count three more times before being stopped halfway through the fourth round.

Victory saw Joyce retain his WBC silver and WBO international belts and cement his status as the mandatory challenger for the WBO world title.

17-0 with 17 KO wins! This man is not human, a beast who can hit so hard he will break bones.

I would like to see artier fight David Benavidez. Both great fighters. But I think David is an all time great in the making, a better boxer than Artur and a better chin. Artur does have slightly suspect chin.

Jake Paul says his upcoming fight with Tommy Fury on 6 August has been cancelled.

Briton Fury, 23, was denied entry to the United States last month for a scheduled press conference to announce the fight.

YouTuber-turned-fighter Paul, 25, gave Fury until Wednesday to resolve his visa issues.

But he said on social media: "Fury's received a termination notice. Second time in a row he has pulled out."

Paul and Fury were originally scheduled to meet last December, but light-heavyweight Fury called off the fight due to a chest infection and broken rib.

Paul says he will now push ahead with plans to fight on 6 August at Madison Square Garden and will announce a new opponent.

"MVP [Most Valuable Promotions] did everything it could to help him and team. He wasn't interested and he literally went into hiding," added the American.

"Second time in a row I'm going to step up and take on a new opponent on short notice."

Great fight Chisora v Pulev 2.

Good observation, his technique faltered once he felt the power. Given how he’s pressure fighter I felt that would play into Beterbiev’s hands regardless but he was uncharacteristically falling over his punches and off balance, also need to commend Beterbiev’s footwork for that one. He is in most top 10 P4P lists now, it appears Yarde is indeed next, I don’t know if he should take his shot now but he and his team are brave, hopefully we get the bivol fight soon after

Great fight Chisora v Pulev 2.

Into the 2nd half of the fight. Chisora can win this one.

Was it good to watch, I heard it was a mess. Chisora got a W and should retire, dude doesn’t need to do this and has made loads for a guy with so many defeats

Looks like Benn v Eubank Jnr is set to occur in October at a catchweight of 156 lb, it’s a spectacle for sure and will be entertaining.

It will temporarily stunt Benn’s development but am hoping he can rebound

Suprised no one mentioned the Hamzah Sheeraz fight today(Saturday) - title fight against Torres - First fight starts at 7pm on bt sport 1:

https://www.bt.com/sport/boxing/fea...cisco-emanuel-torres-reasons-to-watch-preview

The fight is more of a rankings exercise for him, other then that it will do little for his development. The Argentinian poses no threat at all and can’t punch, his best performance was getting a draw with a one legged welterweight in Benavidez

They did take a calculated risk with the Skeete fight and he needs similar challenges to see how he is progressing, especially with one eye on a world title shot in 2023, he’s going the WBC rouge and Jermall Charlo is the champion…..

If him and his team are serious, I’d be looking to match him with the likes of Fowler and Williams, take it from there. No point in protecting a fighter, only to get found out on the world stage.

as much as i like eubank sr i cant stand jr, connor however seems to be a far more grounded and likeable lad. youtube videos of his banter with his dad are quite funny. hope benn wins.

also looking forward to the sheeraz fight, yeah he's 15 fights in, but he's still young, don't mind him taking his way to world level, he easily has a year or two to keep developing.

Jnr plays up the role of a villain, you could see how much fun he had with it in his last fight. Yeah Benn is more grounded.

This fight does nothing for his career. Your opponent needs to pose some sort of threat with 15 fights in. They had no issue throwing him in with Skeete, maybe that gave them a wake up call, but he isn’t going to develop fighting cans. They are talking about a world title shot next year, if that’s the plan he should be facing top 10 MW’s at home. Sheeraz has talent but I don’t agree with Frank using the Yarde template.

hamzah has talent but he's looked awkward at times when he's been tested, he has decent power, but he isn't naturally quick, his chin is untested, and the only time he needed to adapt, against skeete, it took nearly 9 rounds for the penny to drop.

I'm not sure how you go about exactly developing his career, but i don't think he's ready for a top ten fighter yet, and not for a title shot in summer 23.

i think he still looks raw and needs another 4 or 5 fights, with at least one proper testing fight before he can aim for the top.

Undefeated British boxer Sonny Liston Ali shares story behind his birthname

When a young prospect impresses at the start of his professional career, boxing commentators sometimes instruct you to 'remember the name'.

Well, there's little chance of forgetting 21-year-old British fighter Sonny Liston Ali.

The light-welterweight from Essex shares his birth name with two all-time heavyweight greats: Muhammad Ali and Sonny Liston.

"It's destiny. With my name, I had no choice but to box," Ali, who has won all three of his professional bouts, tells BBC Sport.

"My grandad wanted to name me Sonny, my mum is a big boxing fan and she gave me the name Liston and my dad - who is a quarter Bengali - just so happened to have Ali as his surname."

"For me it's just my name; I've had it my whole life. But for other people it's a unique name and it's definitely a talking point."

decent fight for sheeraz as a learning experience, he deffo has power, and good to see him not get flustered by getting knocked down, torres ain't the the biggest puncher but he handled his first knock down well.

managed to put torres down three times, which was good but then he left two or three glaring counter opportunities across the fight.

only major positive was that he stayed in control, of the fight rather than chase shadows and upped the ante sooner than against skeete.

he deffo needs 4 or 5 more fights.

Jake Paul's promotional team have accused Hasim Rahman Jr of a "lack of professionalism" after their fight on 6 August was called off.

Rahman had stepped in after a planned bout between Youtuber-turned-fighter Paul and British boxer Tommy Fury was called off.

However Paul's promotional team say Rahman has failed to make an agreed fight weight.

They said they were "left with no choice but to cancel the event".

Paul's Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) said fellow American Rahman had signed an agreement to fight at 200lb but a weight check on Friday showed he was 215lb.

They added he weighed 216lb when the agreement was signed in early July.

Rahman's team wanted to agree a 215lb limit but the New York State Athletic Commission said it would not sanction a bout unless it was held at 205lb.

"MVP and Jake Paul will not reward someone that has conducted themselves in such a deceiving and calculated manner," Paul's team added.

"The boxing community must hold Hasim Rahman Jr liable for his lack of professionalism."

Featherweight world champion Amanda Serrano was also down to fight on the card.

The Fury fight was called off following travel issues, with Tommy - brother of heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury and a former Love Island contestant - unable to enter the United States.

"First Tommy Fury fumbled and now Hasim Rahman crumbled," Paul wrote on Twitter.

"These boxers are the most difficult people to work with and continually lack professionalism and confidence to fight me."

American fighter Danny Garcia used his post-fight interview on Saturday to talk about struggling through "deep depression" and anxiety.

Fans and fighters have applauded his candour.

Meanwhile, Chris Eubank Jr has emerged as an unlikely potential contender to fight Jake Paul, after the Hasim Rahman Jr fight fell through.

Here are just a few talking points from the world of boxing this week.

Garcia came back from 20 months out to get his career back on track on this weekend, with a win over Jose Benavidez Jr.

The 34-year-old, from Philadelphia, is a former unified champion at 140lbs and has also won the WBC's version of the title at 147lbs.

Michael Conlan: Belfast fighter defeats Miguel Marriaga in comeback bout

Michael Conlan returned to winning ways at the SSE Arena with a comprehensive unanimous-decision victory over Colombia's Miguel Marriaga.

The Belfast featherweight scored three knockdowns on his way to a comfortable win in his home city.

Conlan controlled the fight and withstood a late onslaught from Marriaga in the final round.

The 30-year-old was making his comeback after the knockout defeat by Leigh Wood in a WBA title showdown in March.

After a timid opening couple of rounds where both Conlan and Marriaga were playing cat and mouse, trying to work each other out, the hometown hero began to get a foothold in the fight.

Conlan utilised his lead right hook well from the southpaw stance, luring Marriaga in before landing the backhand left cross on numerous occasions.

He continued to move his head well, landing scoring shots before getting out of range of the three- time world title challenger's combinations.

Into the sixth round and Conlan's superior jab was beginning to tell. Holding his hands low, continuing to move his head brilliantly, the Olympic medallist peppered the face of Marriaga, snapping his head back on numerous occasions and bamboozling him continuously.

With the rounds ticking by and Marriaga becoming more desperate, Conlan scored a superb knockdown in the seventh round.

The lead right hook was the shot that sent the Colombian tumbling to the canvas, and the Belfast crowd into raptures. Conlan's lightning jab was setting up opportunities for his clubbing shots to land.

The second knockdown came in the eighth, where Marriaga went down after a flurry of explosive shots landed. The following round, the Irishman produced his third knockdown of the contest, landing a ferocious back hand right on the button.

Marriaga, who has scored more knockouts than Conlan has had fights, was beginning to tire. Despite the late barrage he came up short.

There was also stellar undercard action including Padraig McCrory's knockout win over Marco Periban. McCrory is only the second person to stop the Mexican, alongside former IBF world super-middleweight champion James Degale.

Tyrone McKenna and Chris Jenkins put on a real show for the fans, trading leather for 10 gruelling rounds, with McKenna getting the nod on the three judges scorecards.

Elsewhere on the card, Sean McComb won a comfortable decision over Ramiro Blanco, with former Irish amateur star Kurt Walker also winning a one-sided contest over Marcos Martinez to progress to 3-0.

Their fathers two fights have gone down in British boxing history as classics. The fights were great but the rivalry and build up was epic too.

Most feel Eubank Jnr will win as he's bigger but imo Benn hits harder and will stop Eubank Jnr. Looking forward to this match up.

Chris Eubank Jr says he is 'finished with boxing' if he loses to Conor Benn

Chris Eubank Jr says he will be "finished" in boxing if he loses to Conor Benn in their catchweight fight on 8 October.

Benn is coming up two weight classes to fight Eubank Jr and the pair argued throughout a lengthy media conference in London.

Eubank Jr suggested the weight cut to 157lbs would leave him at "60%" for the fight.

"If I lose to Conor Benn I am finished," he said.

Addressing his rival, he added: "I'll be 60% on the night and that'll be enough to do whatever I want with you."

Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr were not present at the media event, but the memory of their own rivalry was ever present.

Eubank Jr gave a passionate speech about his decision to accept the fight and undergo what will be a big weight cut given he usually operates at middleweight.

"I don't hate anybody I would ever give anyone that type of power over me. I don't even dislike Conor," he said. "But at the same time this fight is personal. The things his father put my father through, I can't forget and I can't forgive.

"I watched the mental toll and the injuries. Him going to hospital and losing half his tongue. I watched Nigel tell my father on national TV that he hated him.

"These are things I can't forgive. This is a fight where our family names are on the line and we have to uphold them. That's where it makes it personal."

Benn responded: "It's not that deep."

That is a big call! But now that you mention it, perhaps the 3lb which Eubank Jnr has to lose will hurt him to, however I am more interested to see if there is a rehydration clause, if there isn’t, then I lean towards Eubank Jnr.

Jnr has wasted his career, I hope Conor doesn’t chase these showcase fights overly because he has a higher ceiling

hope benn wins, loved his dads fighting style, and whilst his son aint as wild he still is entertaining. eubank jr was always gonna struggle living up to not only his dads fighting pedigree but his personality too. coner on the other hand seem far more grounded.

I also see Benn as a younger hungry lion who will be packing on the punch power in training.

Eubank also seems a little lost, he did have a big family tragedy which sadly is still effecting him. He seems lost , not really interested in boxing as he once was. His last fight wasnt the best performance.

No doubt this fight will turn into a war, therefore I feel Benn will hurt him.

Conner Been to win by stoppage in the 8th. Great bet for any betting men out there.

Eubank like his father has a granite chin, cant see Connor stopping him. Points win is Connors best bet, but im leaning towards a Eubank win.

Eubank Snr had a good chin sure but not granite, he was knocked down in 15 seconds against Joe Calzaghe.

I just have a feeling this will be a war, Benn will take the punishment but keep coming, eventually stopping Eubank but will be interesting to see what happens.

Deontay Wilder to face Robert Helenius in first fight since loss to Tyson Fury

Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder will return to the ring later this year for the first time since his third fight with Tyson Fury.

The American will face Finland's Robert Helenius at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on 15 October.

"It's been a long journey for me and as of today it continues," said the 36-year-old Wilder.

Wilder was stopped in the 11th round by Fury last October as the Briton retained the WBC title.

He was honoured with a statue in his hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama earlier this year and said that played a part in his decision to accept the bout with Helenius, who has won 31 of his 34 fights.

"I thought so many times about whether I should stay out of the business or come back," added Wilder.

"Once I got my statue in my hometown and saw so many people arrive and celebrate with me [it] made me feel like my job is not done."

Canelo Alvarez v Gennady Golovkin III: Mexican world champion aims to send rival into retirement

Undisputed super-middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez says he wants to send Gennady Golovkin into retirement after their trilogy fight in Las Vegas.

The bitter rivals fight on 17 September four years after Alvarez narrowly beat Golovkin on points in their rematch.

Golovkin turned 40 earlier this year and speaking to BBC Sport, Alvarez was asked whether he wanted to retire the Kazakh after their fight.

"I don't like that guy," he says "Yes, that's my goal."

Golovkin and Alvarez, 32, have developed a bitter rivalry since their first fight, which produced a controversial split draw decision.

As well as accusing Alvarez of running from their third fight, Golovkin has repeatedly referenced a six-month doping ban the Mexican served in 2018.

"It's personal because he talked a lot of things about me all these years, so that's why it's personal for me," Alvarez says.

George Foreman: Two women file lawsuits after accusing boxing champion of sexual abuse in 1970s

Two women have filed lawsuits in the United States after accusing ex-heavyweight world champion George Foreman of sexual abuse in the 1970s.

The women say they both met Foreman as children as their fathers were boxing associates of the now 73-year-old.

One accused Foreman of grooming her when she was eight and having sex with her when she was 15, her lawsuit says.

The other accused him of sexually abusing and raping her when she was 15 and 16-years-old.

Foreman has denied the allegations.

In a statement in July, when the allegations first became public, he said: "Over the past six months, two women have been trying to extort millions of dollars each from me and my family. They are falsely claiming that I sexually abused them over 45 years ago in the 1970s.

"I adamantly and categorically deny these allegations. The pride I take in my reputation means as much to me as my sports accomplishments, and I will not be intimidated by baseless threats and lies."

He added: "I don't pick fights, but I don't run away from them either."

Now in their early 60s, the women filed separate lawsuits in a Los Angeles court on Wednesday seeking damages.

One said Foreman told her that her father would lose his job as a boxing adviser if she did not comply.

In 2020, a California law came into effect that temporarily waived the statute of limitations that had prevented victims of childhood sexual abuse from filing civil lawsuits.

Foreman won Olympic gold in 1968 and the world heavyweight title for the first time in 1973, beating the then-undefeated Joe Frazier.

He twice defended the belt before being beaten by Muhammad Ali in the iconic Rumble in the Jungle fight in 1974. He won a second world title two decades later, age 45.

Former world heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr knocked Luis Ortiz down three times en route to a unanimous decision win in their WBC title eliminator.

Chris Eubank Sr claims he has pulled his son out of his fight with Conor Benn next month.

The sons of legends are due to clash in London on October 8 at a catchweight of 157lb in a fight which has rekindled memories of their fathers' bitter rivalry. But Eubank Sr has expressed concern over his son's weight cut with Eubank Jr normally competing at 160lb

Very poor from Eubanks. They agreed to the 157lbs, pulling out now imo is fear of losing to Conner. At 157 Eubank likely have been knocked out imo. The cut isnt easy for his age. But dont sign the fight if you know this.

The disagreement I understand is around the rehydration clause, allegedly Hearns and Benns wont allow Eubanks to put on more then 5 lb after making weight which would be unsafe if true. I’ve never heard of a 5 lb rehydration clause before, I don’t think even Mayweather had many of those lol but this what they are starting with it seems at the negotiation table, Eubanks has mostly fought at 168. If this fight is agreed at 157, I don’t know how necessary the clause would be and if there is one, 5 lb is ridiculous

Thanks. It makes sense now but agree to this?

Sad, as both miss out on a huge payday. Connor looked in great shape, even 10lbs difference he still had a great chance imo. Younger , hungry, less damage and highly motivated.

would like to see ruiz v wilder after wilder fight againt Robert Helenius.

sept 23 - Shakur Stevenson vs. Robson Conceicao - shakur is really underrated

sept 24 - Joe Joyce v joseph parker - joyce will win that easily

sept 24 - Leigh Wood v Mauricio Lara

Sept 24 - Maxi Hughes v Kid Galahad

oct 15 - Devin Haney vs. George Kambosos Jr - great to see haney fight him again in australia - should win this as easily as first fight

Nov 5 - Dmitry Bivol vs. Gilberto Ramirez

Nov 12 - Ricky Hatton vs Marco Antonio Barrera (Exhibition)

I feel something should get worked out, this may just be a ploy to hype the fight because it’s around the corner.

It’s a spectacle/money fight, I would have preferred Conor to have faced a name at 147 because am a fan of his style and prospects. I wouldn’t have minded even Conor v Brook. Hopefully he wins this one so he can move on to Broner or if more ambitious, Thurman

Eubanks has wasted his career and has been waiting around for one of the alphabet titles to become vacant.

It seems to be back on. Too much money at stake. Agree Conor v Brook would be a good better fight but Brook has retired for now. I just dont feel Eubank was at the races at all in the last fight. He seems a little lost but the Eubanks arent easy to read!

GGG vs Canelo

Who does you guys have for the third fight. 1st was a draw I thought GGG won, 2nd cannel won I thought GGG won or a draw at best. Third time I think Canelo will win. GGG is very old.

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez is wary of the threat posed by "intelligent" Gennady Golovkin but plans to win their trilogy bout this weekend inside 12 rounds.

The Mexican, 32, puts his undisputed super-middleweight crown on the line against the Kazakh, 40, in Las Vegas.

Their first encounter in 2017 was a controversial draw, with Alvarez winning the rematch a year later.

"I'll be looking to get the stoppage," said Alvarez. "This is as edgy as I've been before a fight for a while."

He added: "I work better under pressure. The pressure I put on myself is to finish this inside the distance. I have a tough rival in front of me but that will be my aim on Saturday night."

Cáñelo lost first two fights in my book. He will no ggg this time. Father Time caught up with ggg. He is 41 and has been in many wars

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez beats Gennady Golovkin: Mexican retains undisputed super-middleweight championship

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez dominated Gennady Golovkin over 12 rounds to retain his undisputed super-middleweight crown.

It was the third encounter in Las Vegas between the modern day greats with Alvarez claiming a second win following a controversial draw in the first bout.

After sidestepping a fightback from Golovkin in the later rounds, all three judges were in agreement, scoring it 116-112, 115-113, 115-113 for Alvarez.

"Thank you my friend, we gave the fans three great fights," said the Mexican.

They had a warm embrace after the fight, despite their rivalry turning sour in the four-year wait for the trilogy encounter, which saw Alvarez retain the IBF, WBA (Super), WBO and WBC titles.

Golovkin said: "I want to shake hands with Canelo. Congrats to all his team. He's a real warrior, if you don't understand that, you don't understand nothing."

Thrilling trilogy ends with a whimper
Despite a bitter build-up, the final chapter did not have the same bite as the previous two contests in 2017 and 2018.

Alvarez, 32, took control from the first round, dominating an unusually passive Golovkin.

Golovkin was happy to "see the rounds slip away", as Steve Bunce on BBC Radio 5 Live commentary put it, and at the halfway point the unified middleweight champion was experiencing a shutout.

What next for Golovkin?

Many had felt Golovkin could walk away from the sport should he lose.

But he confirmed he had no intention of hanging up his gloves after Alvarez's promise to send Golovkin into retirement with a knockout victory proved overzealous.

Golovkin, who stepped up to the 168lb super-middleweight division for the first time for this fight, is still the IBF, IBO and WBA (Super) champion at middleweight.

"Absolutely" Golovkin said when asked he would continue fighting. "I have a great plan. Congrats to Canelo and all boxing fans. I have three belts in 160lbs, I come back, I'm still champion."

'I need rest' - Alvarez
Alvarez returned to winning ways after his move up to light heavyweight ended in defeat against WBA (Super) champion Dmitry Bivol last time out.

It was just the second loss of his career but the Mexican confirmed his next target is to avenge that defeat.

Bivol, unbeaten in 20 fights, will first defend his title against Gilberto Ramirez on 5 November.

Alvarez, who revealed he had been suffering from a hand injury before his win over Golovkin, will look to fight Bivol on his return next year.

"I left everything in there. I need surgery on my hand, I'm not good in my left hand," he said.

"Everybody knows [Bivol is the fight I want]. We'll see what happens in that fight. But I need rest.

"It's very important for my legacy, for my pride, for my family and my country. I will beat him."

One sided fight which should never have been sold as anything else .

GGG is still good enough to be a world class fighter at 160 and may even reign for another 12-18 months at 160 which is staggering for his age. But he wont compete with anyone north of 160 lb. I would like to see him retire but if he continues, the blood thirsty fan in me would like to see the unification with Charlo.

Full credit to Canelo, total and utter domination, GGG took ages to warm up and his reflex’s were not quick enough to respond against a highly active / elusive fighter. The overhand right hand and looping left hook gave GGG problems all night and later, he was getting caught with shots that were coming straight at him. It’s easy to say oh, he had the wrong game plan, but it’s not easy to teach an old dog new tricks and in his mind/heart he won the last two fights with his technical ability, so at this point it would have been harsh to expect a 40+ year old to bull rush an elite fighter north of his base weight division. Canelo though showed me, he is just invincible between 160-168, he should stay at LHW after this because we will see him against the odds a bit more.

What about the chin on these two? and especially GGG, your punch resistance is meant to go by now, but he takes shots so well, a testament to his old school training regime which plays a part. Was nice to see them have a moment at the end.

One of the worst fights I have seen in a while. Pains to a see a champion fight like that. He is down.
In my book ggg won 2 fights. Cáñelo won 1.

One sided fights are more for the purists but I didn't enjoy watching that either. But it wasn't like a big beat down, GGG was simply getting beaten by the superior boxer at this point, it was a tale of two seasons with one fighter in autumn and the other in his winter. But let it not cloud how outstanding the last 2 fights were in the trilogy and the 2nd find for me is arguably the fight of the century.

Yes the first two fights were legendary. Ggg is 40. Gad money in the bank. Should retire. He just did not have a desire . Fire in the belly gone
