I am considering purchasing this bat but wanted to get your opinion if your think there is too much heartwood in it.

Also are the too many grains?

Other option i am considering is laver and wood reserve bat.

I see the auction has ended but generally I wouldn't worry about a bit of heartwood. If it's good enough for this guy then I think it's good enough for any of us

I wouldn't buy a bat online, go to a shop and grab a few bats to see which ones feel nice and comfortable to pick up. Then ask the salesperson/shopkeeper if you can bounce a cricket ball off the bats to see which ones have a nice ping.

No need to make it more complicated than that, forget about heartwood, butterfly stains and knots in the wood. If it has a nice pickup and the ball goes off the middle like a rocket then it's a good bat. Everything else is cosmetic, you're playing cricket not modelling on a runway.
