Skillwise they have the ability but if we look at experience, we are lacking a bit there in bowling as well as batting.
Other than Junaid Khan none of our bowlers have played even 50 ODIs while our top 3 batsmen have combined experience of 104 matches with two of them yet to play 50 ODIs. Same is the case with our all rounders.
With experience players learn a lot of things but skillwise Pak can definitely do what it did in CT 17.
No, skill wise they don’t have the ability.
This is PAK forum & I don’t want to brag, but it’s a massive overstatement if you think this PAK line up as a whole has the necessary skills to make a confirmed SF spot, let alone winning WC. Teams out perform their level sometimes, because the team game is about instincts, combination & synergy - that can happen for PAK as well, but in terms of fundamental skills, this unit is
Inferior in batting to at least 5 teams - England, Australia, India, Newzeeland, South Africa, arguably BD as well, but I keep that for neutrals to judge.
Inferior in pace attack to at lest 4 teams -
Australia, India, Newzeland, South Africa; may be WIN as well or at per. Add skills of new ball bowling in a separate section - Poms will join in the better bracket.
Inferior in spin attack to at lest 5 teams - India, England, South Africa, Australia & Afghanistan. Most will say Bangladesh as well and if Narine is picked, you can add WIN in that mix of better or per.
Inferior in Fielding to at least 5 teams - NZ, SAF, AUS, ENG, IND; probably WIN as well and SRL, BD not far behind.
No, this is not that “skilful” squad to be honest. But, 11 players raising their game at a time & complement each other - far greater things can be achieved. We can hope that most of the PAK players hit form during WC and achieve something, but “skill” route doesn’t give much confidence. And, talking about experience- I think the lesser, the better for PAK players .... experience makes them selfish.
